The Amazing Milwaukee Race is a great way of meeting people and to learn about Milwaukee. It also brings more awareness to community activities, various restaurants, non profits and places you probably would never have visited otherwise and make a difference in the Milwaukee area (such as donating to the Historical Society to upkeep a memorial, building a prop for a local acting company, or spruce up a wall of a school by painting it). Per The Amazing Milwaukee Race's facebook: "Teams of two experience Milwaukee landmarks and businesses on an amazing urban adventure with clues: activities, puzzles, & checkpoints that challenge participants to get from start to finish. This is a nice race...even if you wimp out and only sign up for the 5k like me. :) All the races…read morehave good attendance but there's more hype around the quarter (its essentially a little less than doing a 10k) and the half marathon. I think it used to start later in the summer but they made the wise move of starting earlier in the June. Its a lot more pleasant to run when its 60 than when its 80 degrees out. With the quarter and half marathon: -you get to go on the Hoan bridge. -you get a "tech" material shirt. -you start right at 7 am vs 7:20. Why I didnt do the quarter marathon (other than I'm flabby and tired sometimes :): It's about $35 more for the quarter marathon and it starts at 7 am on a Saturday in summer. I dont know about you but it's really a gamble whether I'm getting my butt out of bed and showing up for these things on a weekend morning in summer. $30 is one thing - $65 is another. I registered late so it was $30 but you get goodies that make up for the cost including: -tshirt -medal -summerfest ticket -polish fest ticket -nice earbuds (you know you can always use more of these.) -free drink ticket -water, chocolate milk, banana, & snacks at finish. Couple things: - they ran out of large t-shirts by the time I got to pick up my stuff but medium is still pretty decent sized. -chocolate milk at the finish line=nothing I want in my GI tract after running hard in the summer. -I would suggest walking or biking down here if you live nearby at all. I heart Milwaukee and I heart this race!…read more It was my second time running this half marathon and I finished 20 minutes faster than last year! I signed up at the Shamrock Shuffle 8K Expo in Chicago and got a discount as well as the dirfit shirt from last year's marathon...score! The course was pretty much the same as last year with a challenging start up and down the Hoan bridge twice!...and that wicked incline up to the residential area after mile 6. What makes this race special are the great scenic views of Milwaukee's Hoan bridge, lovely quiet mansions, downhill stretch down towards the lakefront, past Discovery World and the Milwaukee Art Museum. Energetic pacers will keep you in check in case the fun sights begin to distract you from a PR goal. Water/gatorade stations litter the course about every couple miles or so...the most I've seen in my history of running half marathons...all three of them! Entertainment along the way also took the form of a band rocking out the 80's music, a Chinese dragon, Mexican folk dancers, a saxophonist, a spectator dressed as Scooby Doo. Even the runners were part of the entertainment too. I saw one dressed as Elvis! Crossing that finish line with the Hoan bridge in view was an amazing feeling. The volunteers were so sincere in congratulating runners. I love love the chocolate milk you get at the end of the race. They actually have so much re-fueling snacks at the finish that I was running out of hands to carry it all! This race is definitely challenging but worth every minute of the blood, sweat, and tears. The free beer doesn't hurt either=)

This was my first Glo Run. I was able to go as a Yelp! Elite and didn't know what quite to expect…read more This was my first ever 5K. I had been practicing walking for weeks. The pick up area was a mess. There were 10 different lines for bib pick up. And huge lines at each station. Then you had to go to a different place to pick up your shirt, glow sticks, and there were 5 other stations to get latex glow paint. They had a DJ playing music and beverages you could purchase. When it was dark we all crowded into the small start area. The race began around 7:30PM ish. I didn't know it was going to be an all terrain race. First we were on gravel, then grass, and then on very dark paths. Some had no lights at all. Runners were wiping out in the bushes as they tried to pass we walkers. It had also rained that day so there were puddles and mud. I think they could have done a better job at lighting the paths and some of the glow in the dark inflatables weren't inflated. There was only one water station along the way. All in all I had a fun time. I wish my fellow Yelpers and I would have arranged a meeting spot ahead of time. It didn't seem like a good course for runners though.

A fun race to mix up winter running routine. (Throughout the weekend there is a full, half…read moremarathon, and 5K.) The race takes place around the Pettit skating rink in Milwaukee. The number of participants is capped so the course doesn't feel overly cramped. It is also fun to be able to see the fastest (and the slowest) folks during the race as they pass you or you pass them. Volunteers / race directors are really enthusiastic about the event. Music is played through the rink sound system, which helps to keep the energy up throughout the race. Nice medal to finisher and entry fee includes a long sleeve tech t-shirt. Race is a bit on the pricier side (~$100), but I suspect that is because it is somewhat pricey to operate an event like this (i.e., facility rental, insurance, etc.) vs. the race organizers making a lot of money off of the entry fees. (I don't have any inside information on that point, just a gut feel.)

I live in Kansas City and I've only been to Arrowhead and Kauffman stadiums so I was excited to see…read morea different stadium in a different city. We headed to see the Brewers take on the Twins. You can purchase parking when you arrive by scanning a QR code. It was really easy and made parking a breeze. There were some people tailgating which made me happy but not to the extent that we do it at home. It was a short walk to the stadium from there. Entry was painless and the staff were super friendly and ready to help with directions. The interior was well kept with multiple levels and so many different things to see. Everyone we encountered from staff to fans were friendly and super chill. The stadium is nice and was my first covered experience. They do open it weather permitting. We went on a rainy day so it was nice that it was covered. They had nice big screens, the seats were relatively comfortable, and they have fun engaging the fans. I wanted to go down the slide but that's only for the mascot. It would be fun though. They also have a little playground type areas for the kiddos. Food and beverages were reasonable priced. Cocktails and premium beer running around $17. In KC it's about $20. I tried the Bobbler Cocktail that came in a cute little baseball glass. And holy brandy was it strong! No complaints from me. I also located the craft beer bar and had to sample a local brew. They had a lot of options and was definitely a good value for the money. They had lots of vendors but I liked that they also have a cafeteria style kiosk where you can grab your items and go to self check. The hot dogs and nachos are pretty standard for ballpark food. But I had to get a brat. I believe they serve johnsonville ones and it was delicious. Brats at ballparks should be a thing everywhere. And again, prices were at or below what I would have expected. They also have lots of merchandise and even an X-Golf inside. Pretty sure the golf place is what this review will appear under but the stadium itself doesn't pop up. Apologies. Overall, I really enjoyed this stadium. I thought it was cool and everyone was friendly. I'd definitely return to watch another game. 5 stars from Kansas City.

The race was also moved from fall to spring so it was an excellent goal to get in extra training during the frigid winter months. This was my first time doing the Milwaukee Marathon but I thought from start to finish it was very well organized, a great course, nice swag and after party.

This is a my second year at the Color Vibe 5K. Why the downgrade? The event needs to be better…read moreorganized. You have to pick up your race stuff the day before or you have to pay a fee. Very inconvenient if you work as they close by 6PM. Every walk I do there lets you park in the interior of Veteran's park. They must not have gotten a lot of parkers last time so they blocked off that parking. I didn't bring my purse with me because it's a race. Luckily I had my hubby with me. We had to park about a 15 minute walk each way for street parking (and we were there by 9). That on top of the 5 K means I walked over 4 miles. I was in the first heat but the pink color station was running out of pink color. That means all the peeps behind me didn't get any. It's an ok course. They need to announce beforehand where the runners should go as walkers were getting trampled. Walking on the uneven grass doesn't feel good on the ankles.

I had been looking forward to taking my nephew to Slick City for a year or more. Timing finally…read moreworked out and we went on a Friday afternoon in summer. I was shocked when I pulled in the parking lot and there were only a handful of cars. When we went in, the place is pretty large, but felt a little empty. There were about 10 slides, a basketball court, and mini go karts. I thought I read online that the go karts were included with admission, but then there were signs saying you needed to buy a wristband. There was no worker in that area and nobody used them during our time there. The slides were fun until you reached the bottom. When the slide ended, you slid onto a rubber mat on most slides. My neck was starting to hurt after a few slides due to the jolt from hitting the rubber mat. I don't recommend for adults. I stopped after about 5 slides. My nephew who is 12 also complained that it hurt. It was really exhausting climbing up all the stairs to get up to the slides. Also, some of the slides and ceiling fans were dusty. Sad to say it was disappointing and I don't plan on coming back.

Wowza, this place is wild! My family and I recently came for our first visit to attend a birthday…read moreparty. My boys were in utter shock upon entering, and honestly so were we haha! It's massive inside, so much bigger than I had expected. Your eyes can't decide where to look- the dozen massive slides, climbing gym area, big swings, zip-line... there's plenty to do! All of the kids we were with, including mine, ranged from ages 2-6. To no surprise, they all had a blast. There's something for everyone, including a dedicated section for kids under 5. From a parent's perspective however, there were definitely a few things we didn't favor. To start, there seemed like a lack of staff, almost allowing for too much of a free-for-all. And the staff that were working, were completely unfriendly and looked like they didn't want to be there at alllllll. This is a kids place... even a smile or a little interaction with the kids would go a long way. The one gentleman -working the area where you swing off the bar onto the blow up section- truly looked mad to be there and it was sad to watch the kids ask him for help and receive bothered looks in return like it was a chore. The go-cart section was completely closed/broken down as well. You pay a good chunk of money to come here, so to have a whole area not available to play was a bummer. Having a bday party here can be the whole package though - our group got a big dedicated table on the party side, pizzas, veggies and fruit, and drinks. Unsure of the cost, as we weren't the hosts, but if you're looking for an all-in-one option this would work. All in all, an enjoyable place for kids but absolutely be prepared for chaos and to support your kids in being safe because there's opportunity for injury.
