I 've been living in Springfield for 7 years now and up until last year I couldn't find a place that does a descent job on my hair for both cut and color. I saw some reviews of Keith online and decided to take a chance. I was surprised and very happy with the results and have been doing my hair with him ever since. What I like about this place is they are professional and efficient and they work around your schedule. Their prices are very affordable for the quality of the work that they do. I 'm not a big fan of any hair product but I like the products that he uses on my hair. My hair looks much healthier since I started to go there. I just moved to Springfield a couple of months ago and was looking for a new place to go. I was told about the ColorBar from a friend who has been going there awhile now. I took a chance and walked in, I was surprised I was able to get to get in for a color. The stylist I had was knowledgeable and worked really well my curly difficult hair and the color is AMAZING! I came in with high expectations and left crying. The woman was obviously not very experienced, screwed up my hair, and when I told her it wasn't right... Told me I was wrong. I'll never come back and I'll never recommend this place to anyone. I'm sure the other stylists are great but I spent over $100 and 3 1/2 hours of my time there only to leave shattered. UPDATE: Keith, the owner, saw my review and reached out to me to see if there was anything he could do to make it right so that I might come back to the salon. I thought this was a nice gesture and it is definitely something a good owner should do. He put a complimentary deep conditioning treatment on my account. As I said before, if I do go back, I will choose a different stylist. ORIGINAL: I hate to leave a bad review especially since the girl who did my hair seemed like she just graduated and had only been at the salon 2 months. I am assuming it is her first job in the industry. As soon as she started "washing" my hair, I knew I had made a mistake as hair washing should be the easiest part of your job. She barely used any product. She didn't wash my whole head, only a few spots, and didn't even get a lather going. After that, she barely used any conditioner which may be okay for certain hair types but I have fine hair that tangles easily. When she was "done," I knew it was going to be torture to untangle my hair. She struggled to get the tangles out and when she went to add layers, the sections wouldn't stay untangled which led to the haircut taking forever. I couldn't take it any longer so I gave her some advice for people with hair like mine which she was not responsive to at all. I told her who she should lather the hair with shampoo to get it all clean and then saturate with conditioner. She then went to angle my hair and started cutting at nose length and I said "whoa! not that short" (I am wondering if she did this on purpose because she didn't like what I had to say) I have long hair so I don't know why she would think an angle should start wayyyyy higher than my layers. Damage was done, lesson was learned. I called on Saturday at 2:30 and they got me in a 3 to what I thought was going to be a simple task for any hairdresser-boy was I wrong. Anyway, she finally finished and said "unfortunately, I am not going to have time to blow-dry your hair."...........................what?? Well, Hallie, had you not taken so long to untangle my hair, there would have been time to do so. It is November so obviously going outside with wet hair wasn't in my plans. I won't be back. It was definitely the most awkward hair experience I have had. The haircut itself is not horrible to the untrained eye and I am sure there are other staff there who have more experience and do a decent job. I hope my advice helps her with future clients but I have a feeling it was in one ear, out the other since she didn't seem to care. read more
