My girlfriend had never had a massage or a facial before and this was a surprise gift for her birthday... she is one who likes to be well informed on everything and given that she was a little trepidatious when I brought her in but expressed total comfort after tells me the experience was fantastic for her. She also told me the therapists explained things for her succinctly and she could feel based on their movements their experience, knowledge, and confidence. Spectacular place and massage!!!! It's not just any other massage place, they truly try to give you a spa experience. What I loved: - on your initial form, you are specifically asked about your preferences- music, aroma AND how much conversation you are okay with, which is quite insightful - the place is sparkling clean with a well stocked shower room - they have a little retreat area with hot tea ( lovely spread), hot neck towels, some comfy chairs, a few books and relaxing music playing in the background - the massage itself!! It's by far the best massage I've gotten ever. I had Amanda and she worked on exactly what I needed, perfect pressure and she even went back to my problem areas for a few extra minutes after she covered everything else. I honestly can't think of anything I didn't like right now. I highly encourage people to get there a good 20-25 mins early so you could relax in the retreat area for a bit before your service. I bought 1 hour dual massage as a birthday gift for my wife so that when her aunt came to town they could spend some quiet quality time together. They said that the massage was deeply relaxing and that from the time you enter and are escorted to a retreat room and change into the plush robes, to the time you walk out the experience is posh and luxurious. I was slightly jealous :) I know we will be visiting Spavia again in the future. Just had an amazing spa treatment at Spavia. I'm only in town for two days, but after a stressful travel schedule, I wanted to treat myself. I found a deal they were doing online and treated myself to a hot stone massage and a hot oil scalp massage. Ah-maz-ing. Diane is great. I feel refreshed. The spa is super clean and much nicer than I anticipated, especially being around a shopping mall area. They brought me into a private waiting room and had me get into a robe; the room was an extremely relaxing and elegant waiting room. After being served hot tea and a warm neck pillow, Diane brought me into the massage room. Music was great. Smelled fantastic. Super clean. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll stop by and visit. In the past, I've had good experiences at Spavia, but I booked deep tissue massage because I was hurting and about to go on vacation. If I'd stayed with my usual massage place and NOT gone to Spavia, I would have felt great. At Spavia, the massage person assigned to me actually hurt my arms and right wrist (for several days) and the hip and leg trouble I went in for was not helped at all. I tried to give supportive feedback while I was at Spavia, but I felt like a fool for paying $139.00 for the worst massage of my last 30 years of receiving massage. I don't believe the last-minute fill-in given to me at Spavia was even trained. (The person I'd booked was sick.) Conversation with her made it evident she didn't know much, if anything, about deep tissue massage. Overall, it seems like the experience has changed. I used to receive a drink and the changing room had a few extra luxuries that are now gone. I like to support local businesses, especially women and/or black owned, but I can't see returning. As I said, I feel like a fool for handing over $139 for what I received; it was that bad. read more

just moved to springfiekd and found this oasis of relaxation . from thr minutr I arrived it was a suprise . the lobby had great candles and personal items I felt like I was in the Bloomingdale's of meditation supplies . then I was brought back to the changing areas . five star hotels have nothing on their robes . if they had been for sale I'd have taken mine home . my masseuse was sweet snd we had a great visit and she knew when to not talk which was great . but she also talked when I wanted to ask questions inspire if my best efforts I can't completely relax but she got the kinks out of me and I'll be back read more

I went in to be waxed by Kayla. She broke the hair off at the skin on much of my legs because she didn't hold the skin taught when she pulled the wax. She left huge patches and strips of hair. She said she did Brazilian waxing but clearly doesn't understand that includes ALL the hair, not just the bikini line and pubic bone (which was also left patchy). When I nicely asked her if she would mind touching up the patch on my pubic bone because I was flying out for vacation the next morning, she tried to argue the hair wasn't long enough (it was), until I pointed out that the hair was all the same length. She removed that patch only and refused to do my labia, again saying the hair was too short. It was clear she just didn't like doing Brazilian waxes because she only waxed the hair that was on my pelvic/pubic bone. From that point, she Was incredibly rude. I was nearly in tears. I again said I was going on vacation the next day and begged her to go over my legs and Brazilian again, offering to pay for the service twice and said I would tip really well. She said she couldn't because it would burn my skin. I said I'd rather have red skin than leave hairy after paying for a service I didn't receive. She refused. I had about 50% of my legs and Brazilian waxed. Kayla claimed the other hair would not come out. When she waxed my legs, she did strips and she didn't pull the skin taught, breaking the hair at the skin, leaving them with stubble. The owner, Laura, offered 30% off after I asked the receptionist to call the manager or owner because it wasn't right to charge me for services Kayla refused to perform. So I received a 30% discount on services I didn't receive, had to go to another spa where a competent esthetician removed the remaining hair, for $180, and had to shave my legs during my vacation because the other esthetician couldn't do anything about the stubble where Kayla broke off the hair at the skin. Kayla did one pass on each area, NEVER once going back to look for hairs she may have missed. I have never been so humiliated and treated so badly in my life, and had to pay for it, not to mention waste my time. The owner Laura does not care about customer satisfaction or return business. Kayla is so incredibly rude and incompetent and should be reported to IDPH licensing board. I reported to the corporate office and plan to report to the BBB as well, since I had to pay for a service that was not completed. read more

Though when I tried to make a second appointment I sat on hold for 45 minutes waiting and then the front desk girl had an attitude when I had questions. I am a stylist and have been raised in a spa. I'm in from Chicago visiting family for the holidays. While I was here Springfield, I called Spavia Day Spa to make an appointment to get my brows waxed (requested a same day appt on Friday, December 27, 2019). They couldn't take me at the time I requested, but were more than accommodating to book an appointment with me about 40 minutes later. I mentioned that they were the highest rated on Yelp, which was why I selected them. (I'm going to be here frequently in the future and am looking for a good salon). I mentioned that I was really excited to try their services, but didn't like plucking. At that point the receptionist got kind of quiet and said that she'd checked the esthetician's schedule and she was running late so they wouldn't be able to fit me in after all! I've told many esthetician's this in the past and it hasn't been an issue. I felt completely dismissed and unwelcome. I told her that I would just take my business elsewhere.
