Beautiful salad, fresh rolls, honeyed carrots and garlic green beans, yay! Veggies! Delicious cheese smothered pasta, creamy chicken, roasted redskin potatoes and roast beef au jus. Although I was concerned that much of their work, though seemingly well done, was all very similar and somewhat generic (all gray and white), I know that's trendy now, and I figured I'd seek some reassurance that individual (and more creative) tastes could be accommodated. I spoke to the project manager who was responsive enough ... at first. He asked what I was looking for in a contractor and explained the process from design to installation. Everything sounded exactly like what we were looking for. And then ... I asked what the average cost for an en suite bath was. I had already done my research, which revealed that the average cost ranges from $18,000 to $25,000 (according to HomeAdvisor). Because of supply issues, I expected Slabaugh's answer to be a bit higher, but I certainly did not expect the project manager to quote a cost double that! He told me that I could expect to pay just under $60,000! I should also note that this estimate was provided without actually seeing the space. When I expressed surprise by this number, I was NOT provided with any explanation. I wasn't told that supply chain issues had increased the cost by 100% or that they used only top tier materials. There was no explanation about paying subcontractors or difficulty in finding qualified workers. Instead, I could almost hear the shrug over the phone as the project manager said, "Maybe we're not the right fit for you," a comment I found dismissive and condescending." Even so, I suggested that maybe my husband and I could stop by the showroom. I was thinking that perhaps I could get a more satisfactory explanation in person. That's when I found out that's it's only open four days a week until 5 and not at all on weekends. As someone who has a job, I explained that those times didn't work with my schedule. "People work," I said. "What do they do?" He silently shrugged again. "They take the time off." So, if you're looking to spend $20,000 more than you have to, if you want want to be dismissed and condescended to, if you want to adjust your schedule to the company you're hiring, then this might be the company for you. I, on the other hand, found a much more pleasant company with which to work, whose quote (after seeing the space) has come in at between $30,000 and $40,000. The company is still very local and has an amazing showroom. So far, they've been easy to work with and they treat me like I actually matter.

I lived in Meadowood apartments from the summer of 2009 until the summer of 2012. Overall, it was a…read morepretty good experience. The apartments are all ranch style and have a small patio. It's nice not having anyone above or below you. NOISE 4/5 The apartment isn't fancy, but it's not a dump. It was very 'meh.' As for noise, it was pretty good overall. I had three neighbors and I only ever heard one of them. It was like the soundproof was great in some of my walls, and just ok in another wall. The neighbor I could hear was barely audible when my apartment was silent, so it was never a bother to me. MAINTENANCE 5/5 Admittedly, I only ever had reason to call maintenance once. It was when my toilet stopped working and they were pretty quick to come to my apartment when I let them know it was ok, then they replaced the toilet. Pretty smooth operation. Other than that, maintenance was involved in snow removal, which was done pretty quickly. AREA & SAFETY 4/5 The complex consists of adults from their 20s up to much older. I was fortunate enough to have pretty good neighbors when I lived there. There wasn't much problem with pet waste either. The complex is within walking distance to Giant Eagle (which is open 24hrs, and that was super convenient). Also, the complex is pretty close to the bus line as well. I never felt unsafe as I'd walk around or ride my bicycle late at night. There was a couple months where about 2 or 3 cars were broken into, but it was a "crime spree" that hit a lot of apartment complexes in that part of the city. Not sure if they were ever caught. PRICE 3/5 My single bedroom cost me 549/mo and they never raised the rent on me in the three years I was there. On top of that, my deposit was $99 and my monthly pet fee was $19. Compared to similar places in the area, it was pretty decently priced. Keep in mind though that trash and water is an additional $26 or so a month. Also, heating is EXPENSIVE. I had a single bedroom and I kept my thermostat in the mid/upper 60s and my winter electric bill was about $130. On the flip side, I cranked my A/C all summer and I think that topped out at about $80 for a month. MANAGEMENT 3/5 Never really had to deal with management for much of the time I lived there. I just dropped my rent off in the pay box and I was never late, so I really didn't have a reason. However, I would have to stop by sometimes and there were a few instances where the landlady wasn't there when she was supposed to be there. That was a minor inconvenience a few times. Also, if you live there, you MUST USE A CARPET CLEANER WHEN YOU MOVE OUT. Which I didn't own, so that sucked. A lot of landlords egregiously charge former tenants for anything under the sun after they move out. Though I didn't feel that the mgt at Meadowood did that with me, I still thought they were unfair and had overcharged me. OVERALL 4/5 My experience at Meadowood was pretty good. The price for the apt was pretty good, but utilities were a bit high. It's in a safe area and the 24 hr Giant Eagle that's so close is a huge bonus. I also had a pretty good experience with maintenance and I never had a noise problem to speak of. I'd recommend.

I asked some questions regarding how walls were sealed and the materials used. Dali answered all of the questions and agreed to my requests. He prepared each day with floor coverings and counter protectors. His install included rerouting some water and electric lines. He completed it with care. Plywood walls were hung, taped and sealed. He installed a new shower pan, shower walls, faucet, then shower doors. He never seemed rushed, but continued working. He demonstrated phenomenal workmanship and superior work ethics. He did everything promised and sought our approval throughout the entire project. He was respectful, pleasant and knowledgeable. He ended each day with cleaning up. He was always prompt, flexible and accommodating. We highly recommend and thank him for doing a great job.

She has a beautiful eye for detail and is wonderful with breaking everything you are trying to do in small, manageable, priority-based, organized steps. She takes the chaos and whirlwind from remodeling, trying to figure out the hundreds of details and being so scatter brained, and gives you an easy roadmap through to a new gorgeous home. I walked around upstairs looking at so many unique options for countertops and bathroom vanity options for a good thirty minutes, and wasn't overwhelmed...the opposite, I was delighted by the difference they had versus big box stores. After spending time here I'd never consider going back to a big store full of people that have to know very little about a lot of things that don't care about you as soon as you walk away that doesn't have the helping hand and talent of Christine there for everything...before, during and after for years.
