i am so happy i found a late night friday show here. first off, the show was cheap as hell. i think i paid about $15 USD. the drinks are under $10 USD. they have some light snacks - popcorn! and no matter where you sit, youll have a good seat in the house. i love that they dont have a 2 drink min like the clubs in the US do. the show was a little over an hour and i truly enjoyed it. also, the host gave away some tickets and gift cards for future shows, which was awesome. where it gets tricky is how to get here. i took the subway line down, and since im not a native, i walked outside to the street. my GPS didnt let me know it was in the mall. My family and I spontaneously came here for Moody McCarthey on a Friday night. As it so happens, Moody is from NYC, so we really loved his humor and jokes. I honestly couldn't tell if his overly-American jokes were funny to the locals. Do your research, I suppose. Comedy Nest is deep inside a large, old hockey arena, so make sure to give yourself enough time to get there and get your seats. Also, the bathrooms are nowhere near the comedy club itself, so be prepared to exit the comedy club if you need to use the bathroom. It is an adventure. It took through the 3 openers for someone to ask if we wanted something to drink. Small but fair beer options priced how you'd expect at a club (though perhaps not as atrocious as an American comedy club price). Fun venue and a good time. We got a very fair price for the level of humor and amount of laughs we got that night. read more

So I am definitely not the best person to be reviewing a comedy spot. The reason being that last Sunday was my first ever crack at experiencing stand up comedy. I went on a Sunday. The show was 10$, well worth the money as there were many acts and the majority were hilarious. I was seated in the front row right in the middle. I was regularly pointed out and made to participate. If you are not into being part of the show take a seat in the back. I'm taking one star off this joint because the lighting was real bad. It was straight up white light and glaring. I've visited the comedy nest a number of time now catching shows from JFL or dropping in to catch a comedy show and overall I'm a big fan of the place. It's an intimate place with a decent amount of seating. Tickets are about fair and the entertainment value can vary depending on your taste. Drinks are OK. No pitchers. They go by the pint and drinks are generally a little light. It's about 8-10 per drink which is fair. Waitresses are pretty quick and friendly. Staff is nice. Great location. Good luck finding parking though. Coming here on the weekend is a pain. read more

Make sure to buy your tickets before heading down to the Nest, last night there were unfortunately a ton of people that got turned away because the show was sold out. But on that note, the show itself was great, bar service was quick, and the atmosphere intimate. The Nest serves only baskets of popcorn or chips and salsa in terms of food (buy your tickets online and you'll get a free basket of popcorn during the show), so hit the large adult arcade right next door to grab a bite before the show if you're looking for some real food! The arcade also houses the only washroom onsite, so try hitting the loo prior to the beginning of the show. read more

We go often and always have fun. Some of the staff get weekly spots on stage even though they are not as funny as many of the other comedians I have seen there, which seems biased. Some of the hosts seem really bitter, which makes the show more awkward. The staff also seem sort of annoyed instead of appreciating their patrons. It's too bad because I personally think everyone at a comedy club deserves a round of applause themselves for braving a night of random comics!! The comedians range, but usually nobody is terrible, and a few good ones always stand out. The waitstaff however...well let's just say they will be bussing your table and asking for the check during the last comedian's act, which I find a bit disrespectful to whatever poor sod goes last. But I thought it was great. It's very small, intimate. The service is good, and they get a nice round of comedians here. Grab food, and/or drinks beforehand. This is located in the Montreal Forum, and we ended up there for their Sunday night show which was fun enough for the $10 we paid. There was probably about 5 openers including the host (all a mix of mediocre to decent) and a headliner who was pretty funny. Being a Sunday, we were happy it started at a reasonable hour and finished around 10pm if memory serves correct, so it was perfect for a low key evening before having to worry about business meetings the next day. Drinks were reasonably prices and the popcorn was good enough that I'd recommend it for some salty snack factor during the night. Sidenote: bathrooms are inside the arcade facility next door, best to hit those before/after the show since they are a few minute walk away. read more

The Comedy Nest has become our home away from home. Not only is the quality of the comedians amazing, but everyone who works there is super friendly. My daughter and I go regularly, sometimes a couple times a week! Newbie Tuesday and Comedy Lab Wednesday are fun, only $5 and you get a free pass to a Thursday or Friday show. The Forum is a great location and steps away from the Metro. We are not drinkers but do enjoy their killer nachos! Some of our favourite local comedians are Geoffrey Appelbaum, Pantelis, Harrison Weinreb, Sara Quinn Peter J. Radomski and Wassim El-Mounzer. We've also met some hilarious out-of-towners including Helen Hong Judy Gold and Thomas Calnan. The comedians are always super approachable and we always feel welcome. I am very grateful to the Nest for making our world brighter through laughter. read more

After the hubby's birthday dinner, he chose to end the night with a comedy show. Tickets were nice and cheap, ample seating. The headliner happened to be a comedian from NYC so we enjoyed his relatable political jabs. The opener was excellent as well. This was my first ever experience with stand-up comedy and I had a great time! Tickets were $15/person and the show included 3 comedians and the host. Overall, the comedians ranged in terms of how funny they were but no one really stood out. Since we arrived a bit early we were given great seats right in the middle toward the front (ideal if you're looking to get picked on by the comedians). As I walked in I was embraced by the smell of freshly popped popcorn which I bought a basket of for $3. There are quite a few drink options and servers will come around to take your order. The only thing that kept me from giving it a better review is the fact that the service wasn't amazing. I sat with an empty drink for a while looking for a server. The water bottles have their logo on them which is a cute touch. read more

My husband, my brother-in-law, a few (incidentally, French-speaking) friends and I came to see my brother perform on open mic night at the Comedy Nest. We had such a fun time! I was so impressed with the club! As the club is not too big, it is the perfect space to get your feet wet as a young performer and as an audience member, it feels very intimate. It goes without saying that when it comes to a comedy club, one's rating can change with the quality of the performers and the friendliness of the audience, but on the evening we attended, we were really pleased with all of the entertainers, the audience was convivial and the bar service was excellent. If you're a fan of comedy, this is probably one of the best little spots to catch an evening show. You can really get your money's worth for $10 (with student ID) or $15 (for everyone who didn't keep their old student ID). This is also a great date night spot since it's an intimate environment. Note: If you sit in the front, be prepared to be teased all night. Good : I am a huge comedy buff, so I would come here to catch big name headliners and new faces of comedy alike. If you show up early, you can get really good seats. If you buy your tickets online, you get free popcorn (which is salty as hell, so you end up buying a drink) and you get the best seats in the house. Also, if you had a great time and would like to come back again, pick up the flyer on the table because that's a two for one coupon if you're a cheapo like me. Bad : The speakers can be a bit too loud if you sit on the sides. Since it's a smaller venue, the openers and acts can be a bit of a hit or a miss. This is not a place to come every weekend because you will see the same acts multiple times. Bottom Line : I still really dig this spot. If you don't know what to do on a weekend, this is the place for you. From Thurs/Fri/Sat, they have 2 showings from 8:30pm or 10:30pm. Me and my friends came to a show on a whim a couple weeks ago and we really enjoyed ourselves, the service was excellent and the comedians were hilarious. We really enjoyed Mateen Steward, "Make Her Cum Again" so good. My only complaint is having to go so far to the bathroom but I guess I can always use the extra steps. Lol. It was my first time at the Comedy Nest yesterday, and I enjoyed my experience. As a French Montrealer, I never think about going to a cabaret style Anglophone stand-up comedy. I had a great night in this cozy venue: beer/liquor on site, food available, and great comedians. As the other Yelper said, there is no washroom inside the Comedy Nest, but it's on the same floor really not far away, so it's really not a big deal! Went there to see Helen Hong's stand-up comedy. Cool place but a bit tight as it was crowded this night. Small round tables that fit 4 people each table. Comedy nest is always a fun time. I don't even like stand up comedy and this place is well worth it. It's very organized, the drinks are reasonably priced, the comedians I've seen have all be good thus far. DO NOT get the dinner and a show deal. The restaurant that they send you to is horrendous. Great venue and lots of cool comedy, we went there on a night where the weather and the traffic were horrible because of a hockey game. We were very few in the audience, but instead of making that an really awkward, situation as one might expect, we were treated to individual one on one time with the various comedians. They were all real pros and we were also very well taken care of by the friendly staff. I recommend trying something a little different catching a show with friends, it is fun. read more

This was my first visit to the comedy nest for an Off-JFL show "The fest at the nest" where various artists from the festival performed. (Kind of like a kinder's suprise show). This was an awesome comedy club! Yeah maybe- location in the forum is a tad odd. All the comedians kept on joking about how it felt like the club was in a shopping mall lol. However- I loved the vibe here- it was small and intimate- not flooded with people and the right ambiance for a comedy show. The drinks were average-beer, wine (cheapest), liquor and they had several cocktails listed on the side board. I tried the sangria which was just orange juice but I didn't expect anything less for drinks. I was glad a drink purchase was not required as part of the show. For Finger food- there is nachos and popcorn 3$ around. The hostess was nice enough to give the audience members complementary tickets to the 10 pm show. It was great 10$ per show and ended the evening with tons of laugh in presence of good company. I would definitely check this venue out on a Saturday night! read more

Alright. Truthfully, I'm being a little harsh because I know my way around some comedy. I had a semi-pleasant time here, but a few simple, otherwise easy to fix things about this place just killed my buzz. For one thing, I was told by the staff that there are no bathrooms. To go to the bathroom you need to leave and go to some bar in the Pepsi Forum building. How the hell does a comedy club not have their own bathroom? Another thing - American talent. Am I supposed to be impressed that two unknown American comedians came here to tell me American jokes filled with American content? I'd have appreciated some Canadian comedians who would have known what jokes the audience would and wouldn't "get." For example, a ton of America-centric jokes about Denny's restaurants, American politics, and black people were made that nobody understood because of cultural differences (I only understood due to my having lived in the US). They were often met with puzzled looks by the audience. Also, a "joke" was made about how Canada should start a war with Quebec and Montreal and kill everybody (there was no other punch line), which was greeted with an intense and uncomfortable silence. How did he think that one was going to go over with a room full of Montrealers? Great? Anyway, I know the comedians' material isn't necessarily up to the Comedy Nest, but I would have appreciated them a) doing a little research on the comedians they chose before hiring them and b) hiring some local/Canadian talent. The Just for Laughs festival isn't in Montreal for nothing. The only positive aspect of the Comedy Nest that I can tout at this point is that they do participate in fundraisers for important causes, which I must acknowledge is pretty cool of them. However, until I see evidence to the contrary, for now I will assume this is another one of those mediocre comedy clubs that only cares about getting asses in seats and not enough about getting people to laugh. Rung one on the comedy ladder. I doubt anyone who went to the show I went to will ever come back. And I doubt I will either. read more
