Let me start off with the good: they bring in some amazing talent, which is something we definitely need in Jacksonville, and everyone on staff I've encountered has been friendly. As to the rest of the experience? Well, if your GPS takes you to a Ramada Inn, you are indeed in the right place. The comedy club entrance is in the lobby, as are the will call desk and the bathrooms. The inside of the Comedy Zone looks like someone sealed it up as a time capsule back in the '80s, then opened the doors back up one day and just rolled with it. It's dark, and a lot of things in the club are a bit...sticky. My big frustration was the seating situation. I (somewhat) jokingly told my husband when we sat down at our table (a table of six that had other parties, too) that I'd just assume we'd be meeting our maker if a fire were to break out because there is no easy way to move around. The tables -- a mishmash of rectangular and circular ones -- and chairs are just way too close together; I even saw servers having to awkwardly climb through, which I can't imagine is fun with (or without) a tray of drinks. And look, I don't expect things to be roomy at a comedy club, but the seating at our (rectangular) table was so smushed together that the three chairs on each side -- lined up sideways so as to face the sage -- had to be placed so that they were literally touching each other. This may work in a situation in which no one at the table has a lower body, but as someone who not only has legs but who is 5'9" with a 6'2" partner, we would have stared longingly at the relative spaciousness of a sardine tin. The tables are too close from a side-by-side standpoint, too; if you weren't the back, you weren't getting up unless the folks on one side of the table next to you were getting up, too. There were other tables -- especially outside of the "inner circle" -- that seemed more spacious, so I'd probably try that next time. We didn't have any food, but our drinks were decent, and I appreciated that they had a couple mocktail options as someone who wasn't aiming to get too rowdy on a weeknight. I'll make a note here that while we didn't have the issue with the drinks we got at the table, we felt a bit hoodwinked at the lobby bar when we were asked to pay on a smartphone where the default tip options were set to 25 percent, 30 percent, or 100 -- yes, 100 -- percent. I caught it, but I can only imagine how many folks who are drunk or just distracted end up leaving a $50 tip on a $50 bill and later wonder what the heck happened. I don't know how it is for other nights, but parking was a bit challenging for our show -- the second of a two-show night, which I'm sure contributed. If you're seeing a show that has multiple performances in one night -- or perhaps even a single one that's sold out -- get there early and plan for the potential of having to walk around the perimeter of the hotel to get to the main entrance, as the side ones were all closed. One last positive: you don't have to deal with the major ticket schemers -- I mean sellers -- when you come here, which is enough for me to round this review up to a 4. Even though I wish a few things were different (like my odds of a fast egress in an emergency), I'll keep coming to shows here. read more

I attended a Sunday evening show at The Comedy Zone to see Gigi Leflair, and it was such a great night. Doors opened at 6 p.m. for the 7 p.m. show. I arrived shortly after the doors opened and, since the show wasn't sold out, I was offered a closer seat to the stage which was a nice surprise. I ordered a shrimp basket and a drink before the show started. My drink came out quickly, and my food followed shortly. The show kicked off a little after 7, starting with the host and another comedian before Gigi hit the stage. Everyone brought great energy, and the crowd was fully engaged. It honestly felt like a big family reunion, lots of shared stories and laughs about growing up that connected with most of the audience. I always have a great time at The Comedy Zone, and I'm glad I got the chance to catch Gigi live. Definitely a fun way to spend a Sunday night. read more

Went to the Comedy Zone for a first time in a long while. The talent was a group of 4 comedians and all were good, but the headliner, Tony Tone, was excellent. He had us crying laughing so hard. The service was friendly and attentive and the food and drinks were good, We were also pleasantly surprised that the bathrooms had been renovated. 7/12/25. Got tickets for Carlos Mencia, 9:30 show and we were still standing outside the studio at 10:15?!? Management needs to plan this out better; it is inconsiderate to your customers. Once inside, the staff was quick and efficient with drinks and food. Because the show started so late (had 2 warm up comics before Mencia) they were still going past 12:30am but the comedy had dragged on by then. How did I not review this spot either. This was the second highlight of my trip after dogs. Jax's main comedy venue. They had Jon Reep here who I remembered from long ago and immediately got tickets. South comedy is better. It's not PC for one and for two, mostly for that reason, it's actually funny. The chicken and fries were good too. Plenty of it that's for sure. Jax gets some good low key names if you're into standup. Most of these high profile people are only famous cus their comedy is super generic and lame. Just saying. The show was great. The seating was decent. The table was next to a pillar and one of the chairs had to be situated in a way that you were in the walkway to be able to see. The menu is classic bar food but was still tasty. The bathrooms were located in the hotel lobby. The bathrooms were low or out of toilet paper while we were there. I informed the front desk person, before the show was even sitting people, and was told that is someone else's responsibility. An hour later it was still not addressed. Although I enjoyed the venue and the show I will definitely think twice about returning due to the lack of attention to the bathroom. No one wants to be caught in a no toilet paper shit-uation. read more

A steady stream of comedic talent ranging from veterans with resumes that spans standup, TV, and movies, to upstart local comedians frequent this stage. And the walls must be saturated with the outburst of laughter and outburst from the joy they consistently put on for the audience. There is also a decent selection of finger foods and adult drinks to enjoy while enjoying the show. Try your best to not spit your order out on your neighbor while laughing. All in all, The Comedy Zone is a great location for a date night. Not everyone knows how to deliver a joke to get a laugh but, the comedians will handle the heavy lifting while leaving you and your date with leftover smiles from laughing so much. read more

Went to see Zoltan Kaszas tonight. Bought premium seats and got thrown in a corner at the end of the stage with a table obscuring my view. (Don't believe me? See the pictures) So I mention it to the waitress and she gives me a nasty attitude. She never once asked if we wanted refills or more food. Nope just a nasty attitude. Thank God for Zoltan Kaszas who noticed our predicament about halfway through his set and he moved the damn table. It seems like the whole staff was clueless tonight. I've been here a lot. Recently visited for Big Jay Oakerson. He was great! Every time I come the service is fantastic. They are pretty quick with the drinks, and orderly with the checks at the end. They are a bit pricey, but not excessively so considering some other places I have been lately. I did not get food this time around but have in the past and it's ok. Typical fried quick bar food for the most part, and priced as such mostly. My only real complaint is the seating is super tight, and the way the tables are (at least in the back of the inner circle) if you're sitting at the front of a table, you will be getting up a ton as people get in and out. In any case, it's a lovely small venue to check out some great comedians. Super fun night out. read more

Paid $15 per person for their $10 tickets ($5 in fees is insanity) and It was the biggest waste! We sat through five comedians and that was all we could take before walking out. Please tell me why none of them were funny? It wasn't like they were kind of bad, they were downright awful. Hardly anyone would laugh and then the comedians would get mad when no one laughed? Say something funny and then we'll laugh. There has got to be some kind of vetting process because it was ATROCIOUS. Also, you have got to fix your sound system! It was horrendous. There's a strong reverb/echo and it was so unbelievably difficult to understand anyone. It wasn't just us, the entire crowd kept saying they couldn't understand. Went for the first time with my bf and family to go see David Lucas. Check In was smooth, they give you a paper with what table you'll be seated at. I'm not sure how they regulate who goes in since no one asks for proof of purchase and the doors are wide open. The show itself was very funny, I love it when the comedians include the audience and almost all of them did. All areas are good to sit in, very clear views. The show didn't start on time, but it gave ppl time to get a bit tipsy. We ordered a drink from the bar inside the hotel, the bartender is a hustler and does not skip out on the liquor (we had very strong drinks). They have servers going around the place before and during the show, I don't know how they do it but the memorize orders very well and they had great service. Only iffy part is that they also collect everyone's cards at the same time, cards on top of cards towards the end. read more

I'd suggest you get the show early if you decide to go, as a packed show will surely fill up the parking area near the main entrance. Tonight, we came to see B. Friday night show. We purchased tickets on line but there were still some left to buy at the door even though the place was packed. We saw 3 comedy acts all very funny but if your easily offended or thinner skinned this show is probably not for you. We didn't order food we had eaten before the show. The appetizer style bar food they were serving did look very good. The waitress comes around to take your order and you will share a table with other people which is kind of nice if your looking to meet new people. After the show there was live music in the hotel bar which was so much fun after the show. Everyone was dancing and the music was great. This was a great night. Get your giggle box ready, bc its show time! #HodgeTwins :D This was my first visit to The Comedy Zone, which is located inside the main entrance to the Ramada Hotel & Conference Center. As soon as you walk into the Ramada Hotel, The Comedy Zone is located to your right, behind double doors. Once you display your ticket, you will be directed towards your table. The room is fairly large and holds plenty of people. Each seat is sold separately so you may end up sharing a table with others. There are two levels, upper and lower, which include cost differences but I will say any seat you pick, you are sure to be able to see the show eventhough the room is tightly packed. They also have a food menu, which we ordered the CZ nachos to share amongst 4 people, which was plenty! The nachos are HUGE and I would definitely get them again as they were tasty and great for sharing. They also offer buckets of beer, so with the huge nachos and bucket of beer we didn't have to worry about flagging the waitress down every 5 minutes haha.. but our waitress was very nice and never disappeared for too long. The HodgeTwins were hilariously funny, I really enjoyed their show! They entertained for about an hour and then took questions from the audience,for about 30minutes, before ending the show. I really liked the interaction they had with the audience, it felt very personal giving the show a unique experience. They would answer any question you had, on any topic, and gave you their direct personal opinion which made for real converstions and genuine laughs. I would definitely see their show again, but I do wish they had photo opportunities after the show. Both the HodgeTwins and The Comedy Zone, were Great Experiences and I look forward to my future laughs echoing in The Comedy Zone! :D read more

I had the most embarrassing experience tonight because they sold me tickets on their website to a show in Charlotte with no indication that the show was in a different city. They also did nothing to resolve the situation, I had to call the Charlotte location for a refund. It's probably best to avoid this comedy club altogether. read more

Always a fun time at The Comedy Zone! I'm always surprised when people get upset at the shoes but every one I've been to has been a blast! I do miss when you could pick your actual table. There is a new system where you pick your section and then within your section it's first come first serve. The waitresses are very nice and come by often to take your order so you don't have to go to the bar if you don't want to. A little tight between the tables but not too bad. The bathrooms are kept up nicely. Definitely a fun thing to do on the weekend! read more

Not sure about every show but the comedian the night I went was hilarious so we had a blast despite the place needs serious updating, even the comedian used it in his jokes. The service isn't that great if you are on the outer ring, they served everyone on bottom floor first so it took half an hour to get a drink order in. They didn't start show till waitresses were done so show started about 45 minutes later. Food is ok, typical bar food quality but does the job. read more

Terrible service! The bar tender KAYLA said she hated making dirty martinis!! I asked for her name at the front desk for the purpose of this review. She approached me while I was sitting in the hallway of the comedy zone, awaiting for the show to open and said I heard you were looking for me. I said no I was not. I just asked your name and she said do you stay at the hotel and I said no I'm attending the comedy show and she said you're not now. I have never felt so uncomfortable in my entire life. I left immediately and sent an email to the comedy zone and I am requesting to escalate it through the Ramada corporate management. All I did was order a dirty martini. Came out to see Preacher Lawson, this was or 3rd visit to the CZ, the show was excellent, as he had an incredible set, he did Q&A and then photos with everyone. For the comedy zone it's self, it is a nice small comedy club, might be touch smaller then others. it is very very tight seating, it is apart of the Ramada hotel, there is actually a great restaurant there, but you are not able to order food from there to eat in cz, the food in cz is your normal bar food, so don't exspect too much. if you wanted to make a night of it, eat at the resturant and see a show!
