Great shop with a wide selection of comic books, toys, playing cards, accessories, & games. They've got old video games, a ton of non comic books, Star Wars stuff, D&D stuff, Pokémon stuff, Marvel stuff, & more. My boyfriend bought some old Batman comics & got me my first set of D&D dies. We played Marvel vs Capcom in their arcade section and got to watch some folks play a Disney trading card game, as they have a couple tables for game play. The service from the man at the cashier area was excellent. He did a good job letting us know about future sales & giving more details about items we were looking at. I had the worst online buying experience with this shop. I tried to buy a single comic that was less than $10. This shop would not allow any orders to be placed for shipping if it is under that amount. So, I check out other comic book suppliers online, and they mainly conduct the same faulty business practices as this one. So, I come back to purchase the comic from this shop since it is more local to me, but it sold out... So, I ended up spending around $30.00 elsewhere because of shipping, tax, and having to add a cart value of $20.00 or more. I am new to the comic book community/scene and this was a terrible and frustrating first time experience online. read more

The manager John happily engaged with each parent and child (about 30 in total) that we brought in their space for a birthday party today. He helped each kid pick out a comic that fit their interests and was so informative and thoughtful. They have a large variety of comics for older kids/ adults and a dedicated kids section. Their dollar bins are full of treasure too. As we were leaving he even had got to know our birthday girl enough that he sweetly gave her some promo items that fit her love for Pokémon. They have my patronage for life. I've never had a better comic book store experience. read more

The Comic Book Shop is awesome. They looked through a couple thousand comics of mine seeing if I had anything good. I did not..... LOL It was all super mass produced stuff that had little value. However, they were kind and even suggested that some of the comics could be donated to kids at the local children's hospital. That is what I did and I felt really good having done it. I'm not a comic book person. I'm a CCG person... so maybe thats part of the issue. It would be nice if ANYONE here had ANY knowledge of this product and not just comic books. I have been coming around to cruise the cases for a couple months now because I work in the area, and each time I am treated rather rudely by a person named Sara. She's very unpleasant and terse when I am at the counter looking at cards. She walks away from me mid transaction, shouts across the store at other people when I'm a foot away from her, blasting my eardrum... and most annoyingly, she talks to me like I'm wasting her time. Apparently, she's the owner I recently found out! If you don't like dealing with CCGs, then why do you sell them??? So I guess I'll not be recommending The Comic Book Shop to any CCG players. read more

For sure trying to start interest and attention for a new event in a community is difficult at best. The Comic Book Shop dove in without even thinking. After reaching out to over 7 different shops, The Comic Book Stop reached out and put everything they had into the wanting of success for a new Comic Con occurring May 5th at the Greenwood Library in DE. Without hesitation, they told me to come up to Wilmington and they'd have a package for me for this community event in Greenwood. I drove the 1 and a half miles, with the three canines, and arrived around 1:00 PM. I would have drove three hours had I known... how amazing the owners, staff, and store was. Packed to the hilt with the most amazing collection if animation, Star Wars, Marvel, DC, and hundreds more of items, from graphic novels, to comics, to figures to TONS TONS TONS of items, and NEAT! Organized! On top of that the owner knew me as if we had met years ago, she, within seconds welcomed me, provided a huge dish of water for my dogs, welcomed them, and then... ...proceeded to bring out two huge boxes of materials to help with the local community event at Greenwood. However, she proceeded to go on and show me specific graphics that appealed to teachers, had lesson plans that met Common Core objectives, as well as the Legal Defense Fund organization and explain this in detail for me as well. Really? This was an oasis of friendship, willingness to help other communities grow, and use the resources of comics, graphic novels, and education to better other communities. One of the best discoveries - EVER - this is a place everyone needs to experience at least once - and you'll be back - guaranteed. Thank you Comic Book Shop ! Some great photos to come. read more

The Comic Book Shop has the entire side of a plaza to itself and has lots of parking. If you have not been here before, The Comic Book Shop has two storefronts. The left storefront is event and meeting space, the right one being the comic shop. Shop has a good longbox selection with current, older, and .50 books available. New book and graphic novel selection is also good. Where The Comic Book Shop stands out is the large selection of rare and vintage toys. During our visit, we saw Star Trek, GI Joe, Masters of the Universe, and Transformers toys that left us remembering our youth. Overall, we left The Comic Book Shop deeply impressed with its toy selection. Alone, that makes the shop worth visiting. read more

I don't have the luxury of being "local" to this place, but I stop by every time I'm in the area (about four times a year). They offer all the amenities one would hope for from a standard shop, including what appears to be a robust and accommodating subscription service, but they also carry a dazzling array of vintage and current toys, paraphernalia, and light gaming. Best of all, they have an attentive and well-read staff. Seriously, THEY KNOW GHEIR STUFF! I'm pretty well-read in the sorts of comics and graphic novels I like, but I've never left without a recommendation for something new that absolutely nailed my interest. Excellent corner in the back-right for those interested in feminist, LGBTQ-friendly, intellectual, and otherwise issue-oriented content. Bravo! read more

I came here today for the Jim Steranko signing, and it was totally worth the hour drive to come here. First, I was over the moon thrilled with the fact that a woman owns this shop. Sarah (I believe) is amazing. It's clear as day she cares about her store, her customers, and everyone who comes in regardless if they've been there before. She was also super attentive to the kids who came in. She hung out and talked to them, set up a coloring table/LEGO play area for them, and you can tell she wants kids to feel welcome and safe here. THAT is how you get new customers, that is how you keep old customers, and that is how you should engage young comic fans. Aside from Third Eye in Annapolis MD, I can not name any other shop that cares as much as she does. They have book clubs for every sort. They have a great selection of books and toys, and they have a Stern Batman pinball machine! I have the same one at home, but seeing it elsewhere was cool. The bathrooms are also really clean. The whole store is clean. You so seldom see that! I would happily drive out of my way to visit here again. This store is a true gem. read more

I haven't been into comics since I was a child and collected Spiderman and The Hulk. I go to play Magic the Gathering (card game). There are other stores in the area that do MTG events but this one attracts genuinely nice, family oriented, people. Sometimes Magic players can be aggressive, impatient, types. This store has one policy for MTG players, "You are welcome. Have fun. DONT BE A JERK!". Its a good policy and I've never seen anyone asked to leave. So, that says a lot about the people you meet there. I buy their MTG wares. The prices always seem fair. They often hand me some comic book promo for my young son. The staff are very very nice. The couple that run this store are great, zero complaints. They have an awesome selection of new and used comics to choose from and they also let you, if there is still room, get a comic box which allows you to place orders on future comics. This place is by far the best comic book shop around! I make a point to stop by every week because they are ALWAYS putting something on. I stopped by a few weeks ago and met Greg Pak, pretty cool. First off they have a great collection of comics. The reason I'm writing the review is for the experience with the gentleman (if you want to call him that) with he glasses that works there. Not the best shop of you are into gold or silver age stuff. They focus on current comics and graphic novels. There must be a customer base for it since 20% of the store is dedicated to it. There is a good toy selection, but never see anyone looking at it. Staff is nice. They should offer a nominal discount for box holders. Pricing for the vintage stuff is pretty good though so come for that. If they had more vintage and scaled down the toys or graphic novel section, the place could be seriously awesome. I went here a few months ago and the lady that works there broke down a ton of information for me. My boyfriend and I used to frequent this store, because it has an awesome selection. We will not be returning in the future because of the staff. The woman who works there is very loud and abrasive, and insulted my boyfriends' choice in comics. I am not sure if she was trying to incite some sort of comic book debate, but it just came across as very rude. She can probably speak that way to her friends who shop there, but as a paying customers, who just like to shop in peace, that attitude and criticism does not encourage us to return, at all. We would rather order our comics online than to feel judged about what comics we enjoy reading. read more

When I did ask about comics they were very helpful and found me everything I was looking for and even made some great suggestions for comics to look into for the future.
