Several years ago they built desktop computer for me, and anytime I have a question (simple or difficult) they have ALWAYS been willing to help over the phone. The entire personnel is professional, courteous and honest. I am impressed that such a complex computer can be diagnosed over the phone in most instances by such a well-trained staff. Mid-February I was in the middle of completing some billing work that I needed to turn into my biller and my USB device failed. I began freaking out and quickly contacted a team member at the Computer Guild. I was told to bring my device in and there was a potential that some data recovery could be done but it was difficult to tell before actually getting it into the shop. I dropped it off and was contacted by a gentleman, Joe, he explained that he had been looking at the device for about eight hours and was unable to recover any data. My heart was broken because every document accumulated as an adult has been saved on this USB device. Every progress note for client; every tax return; every billing episode; every credential that I've ever gained; documents from when I was still in college; study guides for state exams that I wanted to keep; client letters; college transcripts; job applications; court documents; invoices and receipts; resumes and cover letters; student loan info; literally everything as an adult has been kept on this USB drive. I essentially explain to Joe that I would come back and pick it up and pay whatever the cost was to do the diagnostic on the USB and didn't hear from him for awhile. Well that evening he called and said that he found a company that specializes in data recovery for USB devices and he said that he already contacted them and they were willing to look at my USB device free of charge and then run a diagnostic; tell us what could be recovered if anything and then also give us a quote. Now, I don't know how familiar people are with great customer service and I can say prior to this circumstance my experience with customer service has been primarily substandard. I was so elated that Joe took the added and truly unnecessary step of contacting this other company. He had no obligation to do so but in keeping with the Computer Guild's mantra, he went above and beyond and performed due diligence by seeking this company out. Joe took care of all of the shipping, all of the communication with this company and sent me a quote. I was hopeful that the quote (because it ranged) I received was going to be on the lower end by the time that the work was completed but it was hard to tell before the company was actually able to complete the entire diagnostic. The company comes back and says that they were able to recover about 95 to 98% of what was on the USB drive but the quote at that point increased exponentially, almost double the original quote. Joe called me and explained. I informed him I was not prepared to pay that amount and essentially told him that I apologize for wasting his time but I cannot afford that. Joe assured me that in no way did this waste his time and he was happy to help. He planned to communicate my sentiments to the company and essentially have them send the USB drive back. I got a call about a day later from Joe saying that he essentially went to bat for me and advocated with the company for them to drop the price to half of what the quote was. I was literally in tears when he told me this because I had already come to terms with the fact that I was just going to lose every bit of data I ever acquired. I was on vacation at the time of this conversation but the company was unable to move forward without payment upfront. Joe again sprung into action and the as able to negotiate the company renting the money until I got back in town. I've never been so pleased with a company in my life!!!! I love Joe!!! And the guys at the shop, everyone was incredibly accommodating and beyond helpful!!!! I'm so humbled and appreciative of them!!! They literally saved my life!!! read more

I came here with my MacBook Air after the operating system wouldn't load. They ran an evaluation on it for me and said it needed the OS reinstalled, that it would cost $150 for the reinstall alone, or $180 for backup with re-installation. I gave the go-ahead and they said it would be ready the next day. The next day comes and goes with no word. I call the day after and they say it should be ready by the end of that day. Then I get a phone call a couple hours later telling me that my 13 month old MacBook needs a new hard drive, and it so happens that these hard drives aren't available anymore "for some reason". The tech warns me about the price (well over $500) and offers to buy my MacBook off me for parts. I go to the internet and within minutes find out it's a known problem with MacBook Airs sold during the time mine was purchased, but not only that, Apple was repairing them for FREE, even if it's out of warranty, up to THREE years after the date of purchase. I go back to the Computer Guild and the dude asks if I want to sell the computer for parts. I show him the article I found and instead asked "Is this the problem with my laptop?" "Actually, that's exactly what's wrong with it. Uhh, yeah, I didn't see that until after I spoke with you on the phone." Right. Then he tells me that my files (that were already backed up) were going to cost me $75 now instead of the initial $30 difference. I decided to wait on the files while I took my Mac to Genius Bar the next day, where they had it fixed for me within two hours at no charge. Trekked back to Computer Guild where I was waited on by a different gentleman and was charged only $65 for the backup of my files. I'm sorely disappointed by the lack of honesty displayed here and will not be returning, ever. read more

Not sure why there are low reviews as other places and people give this place 5 stars. And they are worth it. They helped me with my old computer and my base level understanding of how computers work. Workers like Justin are patient and helpful in not only fixing computers but helping to explain what happened and how to avoid future issues. It's like a mechanic that tells you how to avoid future repairs. It's a rare thing these days. Glad to have this place in our town. read more

A couple years ago water was spilled on my MacBook so I immediately brought it in to see if it could be saved because it would not turn on. The guy took one look at it and told me the motherboard was fried and that it couldn't be saved, and I trusted him because he's "the expert". The next day I went and bought a new laptop and had him copy the contents of my hard drive and put it on my new lap top. When I went back to pick up both lap tops, he only gave me my new one. I thought that was sketchy, because I know how much Mac parts go for. I asked for my MacBook back and after protest from the worker he finally handed it over. Fast forward to earlier this year, we were packing and I came across my old MacBook that I had packed away and never got around to selling for parts. Out of curiosity I plugged it in and tried to turn it on. To my shock, it fired right up but didn't have an OS because the hard drive had been wiped (or so I thought). However after further investigation I discovered that Computer Guild had actually stolen my hard drive and multiple other smaller parts from my computer and that was the reason they were so reluctant to give my computer back. With that being said, don't waste your time or your money and go somewhere you can actually trust. read more

Had a short circuit on my charging input, it cost $145 to fix. They broke the hinge claiming it was already like that before they took it apart. 3 months later the charging input is broken again, and when I call they say they wouldn't replace it unless i pay another $145. read more

I have used The Computer Guild for all of my computer repairs for the last 3 years. I find them less expensive than competitors. I have tried other places and have been told that my computer would have to be sent out and to expect a 4 week wait. The longest I have had to wait was 1 week for a repair to be done (part had to be ordered). On several occasions if they had time they trouble shooted my problem and it was fixed within minutes. This is the only business I go to for computer repair. I trust no other place. read more

We've had excellent service here and have taken computers to them a few times. Joe's the BEST. Very conscientious, thorough, and pleasant. The prices are very fair. We've taken both PC laptops and iMacs to be serviced. What we've been learning is that Apple products aren't what they used to be. read more
