I found Your IT Dept through Yelp when my fav laptop physically crashed to the ground. Fortunately…read moreit's a Toshiba and solid as a rock, but the screen wouldn't turn on, and the directions for tearing it down to test it were just too complicated. (Turned out I needed a new LED screen entirely; the last step in the testing process. So glad I didn't attempt the repair on my own!) They had it done in no time for cheap, plus cleaned out the entire laptop (tore it down, wiped out the keyboard, etc) for no extra. Runs better now than it did before. And their ideas for the future of their company are innovative; I'm excited they're in the area and do local repairs (and sell nicely refurbished, all-legal computers and peripherals), as well as work the larger companies in Charlottesville, Lynchburg, etc. They give you a card, stay in touch through email or phone, and work fast. Worth the visit and a bookmark imo, esp for what they WANT to do with wireless in the future. I got some GREAT ideas from them to save money and get faster internet. Nothing but love for these guys; they clearly love their work and the community, and tell it to you straight. No punches pulled, and very professional.

I'm a W&L college student, but unlike many other students, I'm on complete financial aid with limited (if any) support from my parents. I tried over and over to get my "stupid, useless" laptop to turn on, but of course it did not. At around 7:30 pm I started calling IT companies even though I knew I wouldn't be able to afford any repairs. I had no luck until I called Your IT Department, who miraculously picked up the phone at 8 pm on a Saturday (I'm from Chicago, that's just simply unheard of). Though their prices are extremely reasonable, with my situation it would not be possible for me to pay upfront. Upon expressing this concern and asking about payment plans to the owner, Matt, he simply laughed and said "don't worry, we'll take care of you". By 9:30 they had met me to pick up my laptop and begin repairs. They were super nice and very reassuring that I would have the data I needed recovered (I was mildly freaking out, the philosophy proposal for the 15-20 page final philosophy paper worth 60% of the final grade was lost somewhere on my oh-so-broken laptop and had not been backed up anywhere else - on top of this I'm a writer and none of my incoherent babblings are backed up anywhere else either). I can't describe how grateful I am for the compassion of Your IT Department; not only was this the most efficient and exceptional service that I had ever received, but they had a complete understanding for my particular situation and were willing to work with me still, something most places would scoff at in our "wonderful" capitalistic society. My computer was finished with all repairs by Sunday night, which I can only describe as either remarkable or magic - they must have used magic - since I didn't even hear back from other IT places in town until Monday afternoon. When I got it back, it was in better condition than before (I'm serious, magic is at work here), and all my data was recovered. I would not only highly recommend Your IT Department for any technological needs, this is the ONLY company I would recommend. Thank you guys again for AMAZING service and for saving my poor little laptop's life.

Denise Hood, the owner of Creative Juices, worked for me for approximately five years…read more Unfortunately, due to what I believed to be her inability to keep her southern-bred politics out of the professional space, we parted ways in a not so amicable manner. Notwithstanding our unpleasant farewell, it would be unfair to characterize Ms. Hood's work as subpar. On the contrary, over the years I have been quite impressed with the work products of Creative Juices. Ms. Hood, in my view, is one of the most knowledgeable experts in social media and marketing in the country! I found Ms. Hood to be very hardworking, honest, and responsive. I greatly value the work that Creative Juices completed for me. The aforementioned sentiments are entirely in keeping with previous review comments that I have offered in support of Creative Juices. I simply, at the time, chose not to express my growing discomforts with Ms. Hood's perceived ideology. It seems to me that there are two types of "clients" when it comes to hiring a social media professional -- the client who cares only about whether the social media professional has the technical expertise to get the job done; and the client who, in addition to expecting technical expertise, also cares about the quality of the overall experience. I fall in the latter category. Solely on the question of technical proficiency, I would give Ms. Hood the highest possible score. I truly think she is one of the best technical experts in the field! However, on the basis of what I perceived to be Ms. Hood's failure to separate her political ideology from her professional role, I would not rate my experience with Creative Juices very high. Thus, my overall rating of three stars. Actually, my 3-star rating is quite gracious, as has been my accolades in this review. In addition to my frustrations with Ms. Hood's perceived ultra-conservative ideology, which is her right to hold, I did not cite here the supervision time I invested pointing out sloppy work (in my view) on occasion. I wish to keep this review as positive as possible. Yet I anticipate a strong defensive reaction from Creative Juices, as opposed to introspection. That would be consistent with my experience whenever I tried to point out errors to the owner. Quite frustrating, though I will not downgrade to a "2-star" rating. I wish to be as fair as possible. I am grateful for all that Ms. Hood and Creative Juices did for my office over nearly five years. I wish her company much success in the future, though I will not be returning to this company as a client. Shenandoah Titus, Esq. Denise was so patient in our decision-making and gave us more great promotion and marketing ideas than we could imagine. She's always there when we need her. We haven't done TV commercials yet, but we absolutely love her out-of-the-box style and her no-nonsense acting in the "Trashcan Lady" commercials.
