I did not like the service I (did not) receive at this business. Newly retired, I needed help…read moreunderstanding the changes that would have to take place on my taxes. I was told the first year I picked up my completed taxes there, if nothing changed I could expect to pay the same amount in taxes for the next year. It was a manageable amount. "If nothing changed" was not explained. As a result, this year I had to pay $7000 in taxes. Nothing was explained to me. What may be obvious to them was not obvious to me. I went to a CPA for that reason. In the end, this year, I went to the office, had a brief talk with Roberts, learned nothing, paid my bill in full before I left - nearly $600, basically, for entering last year's information into their computer. There is nothing complicated about my taxes. I had not received the answers to my questions or information I needed. Roberts was not helpful. Two days later, I received another bill for $50. I was surprised, and I was insulted. I had paid my bill before I left his office that day. No one mentioned that a brief discussion with Roberts would cost another $50. And, when I got home, after trying several times to pay my taxes online, I figured out why I was having trouble, my address was wrong. The prior year they had entered the wrong zip code on my taxes. As far as I'm concerned, I ended up paying, paying, paying. I really do hate wasting my hard earned money. Sincerely, Obviously unhappy customer.

I only discovered there was an issue after months of delay when the IRS could not locate my return in their system. When I requested written clarification about what had been filed, when it was transmitted, and why it was rejected, I received vague and dismissive responses instead of documentation or clear answers. Key concerns: I was not provided confirmation of whether a corrected return was filed properly. No transmission or rejection documentation was initially provided. My name was misspelled on the return -- something that should have been caught before filing. The only written explanation I received at one point was "IT WAS REJECTED." Requests for secure instructions to resend identification documents went unanswered. Communication was curt, defensive, and lacking basic professionalism. I was told the return was prepared "as a courtesy." Regardless of payment, once someone agrees to prepare and file a federal tax return, accuracy, transparency, and accountability are expected. A courtesy does not justify errors, delays, or failure to clearly communicate filing status. Tax preparation requires attention to detail and responsible follow-through. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I cannot recommend this business to anyone who expects clear communication and professional handling of sensitive financial matters.
