I joined their A Couples Night Out cooking class and had a lot of fun. Our class included complimentary 3 glasses of wine, and San Pellegrino. I had a great time learning how to make things I normally wouldn't have the balls to make at home, like meatballs with pomegranate glaze and spatchcock chicken. Our instructor was energetic and engaging. The class made a five course meal and each couple was stationed to make one of the courses for the entire group. I suggest you get there early before anyone else to get dibs on a dish you really want to make. I wanted to learn gnocchi but was stuck with dessert. Unfortunately a hipster group got their grubby hipster hands on the gnocchi station first and given the choice to use whole wheat flour or all purpose, they chose the former and the gnocchi tasted awful. THEY RUINED GNOCCHI!!! I felt terrible for our classmates whose first time trying gnocchi was that night. The cooking classes are a treat at $100/person. It's worth trying at least once in your life but there's nothing they teach that YouTube can't.

This is a delightful find tucked into the back of the Cookbook Co. Cooks store, it may look like a restaurant but it is fact a cooking school. The organiser there was so incredibly friendly, she greeted me at the door, offered to take my coat and offered me a coffee. Tonight they were to have an Hors'D'ouerves class via a plasma screen and large mirror to see the class unfold. There were tables set to actually try it hands on themselves and then to feast later. Many students were arriving, a lot of them obviously regulars. There is a very warm ambiance here and classes range from to $65 to $135 classes. There is a huge array of classes to choose from, Italian, French, Mongolian, Mexican and Vietnamese, there are even classes for kids, and couples and my favourite the "Culinary Boot Camp Just for Men". The most appealing thing for me however is the guest teachers that are invited here. Expect the best from North America. How about Fresh's Anna Olsen or Chef at Home's Michael Smith. Just check website under cooking classes for more information. So what are you waiting for Calgary, start cooking!

You'd think a born and raised Calgarian would know this place existed - NOPE! I've always seen the Cookbook Company recipe books when I'm standing in line at the grocery store, little did I know you can go somewhere and have someone teach you on how to cook the recipes! We went here for a team building activity for work, and it's such a great idea! Having fun with your coworkers by learning how to work together outside the office, and enjoying the meal you cooked together is a true bonding experience. It almost takes you back to those home ec days from High School! We got to make sage & prosciutto wrapped chicken, garlic green beans, mushroom risotto and lemon cream puffs for dessert. I've actually made the chicken quite a few times since I learned how to make it, it's so simple and delicious! Highly recommend doing a cooking activity for a team building or even a night out with friends.

So basically their Barnes and Noble or Borders. But in this case/location, without the coffee shop. I've looked up Indigo bookstores since coming back and this is one of their smaller locations. Very small, but very pretty. The photos don't do them justice. There is, however, a boba place across the hallway. XD And this particular location is on the 1st floor of the CORE Shopping Centre. They have a door leading out onto 8th Avenue as well as the entrance leading into the mall itself. X3 The employees were very nice when I asked my questions, and I was super excited at the prices (considering conversion rates at the time). Most of their titles are the more current and popular ones, and there's even a section devoted to the titles popular on bookstagram. But also, MANGA! CORE Shopping Centre is definitely someplace you want to come to visit, explore, and hang out in. If you're visiting Calgary, I would definitely recommend visiting since it's so big, has so many things, and is just gorgeous. Seriously, the top floor is an entire garden. And in that respect, this Indigospirit is perfect because this scenic center is exactly the kind of place where I would like to buy a book along with a snack or drink and then settle down to read for a good part of the day. X3 Side note, we only saw restrooms on the third floor, there are two parkades and the first three hours were free on the weekend, and (if you're interested) Indigospirit's book selection can also be found on the Indigo bookseller website. They do shipping. Next time we visit Calgary, I WILL come back and have my full reading day.

Guess What? :) Let's just say I met the personal experience requirement, but barely. I browsed through the shelves, recoiled at the mall feel of this place, tried but failed to buy something, and soon enough found myself back on the street and temporarily stymied in my search for literary nerdvanna.
