The orthopedist i saw was really really good. I was amazed at how quickly he was able to address all of my questions. I like that they do their own imaging, too, which saves a lot of time. The physical therapists are really hit and miss. Some of them are really good and some of them are clearly just going through the motions. It is really hard to schedule with the therapists you want (and they don't tell you when you're first scheduling that you'll have a different person each time.) They send you exercises to do at home, and will eventually update them if you ask. For me a lot of them were not really helpful. Some days it is very quiet and some days they are so busy that they're just running between patients. I would recommend asking for Madison or Jessie when scheduling, they are both really good. read more

Pretty hard to recommend a business practice that mistakenly loads the full months-long PT schedule for your recovery, and instructs you that all these are tasks you must perform on the day of surgery and the 2 weeks before your follow-up. When I called repeatedly and questioned that it looked pretty challenging immediately following surgery, and that several of the exercises like sets of "chair sits" on the day of surgery seemed excessive, I was told repeatedly by the PT staff, and the Dr covering for my surgeon, that "everyone complains about PT", and that if I didn't complete my PT, my surgery could be a failure, which I was also informed of at the surgery center the morning of the procedure. As a result of the PT error, I had torn meniscus, scar tissue and cartilage in my knee joint and 11 months of futile PT. I was never offered an acknowledgement of error or an apology. read more

After making a same day appointment I attended my scheduled appointment 30 minutes early filled out paperwork and waited about 45 minutes to be taken back to X-ray for a lower lumbar shot. I pointed out that series will clip the coccyx and I made an appointment for tailbone not lower lumbar. I was taken back up front and began recording the audio immediately. I was told word for word we don't do tailbone and you will not be seen today actually. Still recording I requested the Supervisor... Enter Juan ... who parroted me, mocked me, laughed and then ultimately said word for word (yep still recording) it is the PAs fault and her call entirely... at which point I asked if she was a representative of CORE or not again mocking me saying she is an employee bot a representative. Bottom line I wasnt seen at all and sent off after collecting pay. This to that.... all of my fellow GPS RNs LPNs Chiro buddies etc do not send to CORE... send to TOCA or ANYWHERE but CORE. read more

I was being completely ignored by The Core for a full week. No explanation, no call backs regarding concerns, nothing. So I spun off some desperate emails asking how they can just ignore me, after failing me two times, a bone infection & now a third time & they just ghosted me! 0 communication. I also sent a grievance letter, which was also ignored. Until 2 days before my 3rd appointment to see what they can't get right...again I get a call. They are discharging me. They've decided that over a year of suffering unimaginable agony at their bumbling hands for over a year now & it just keeps getting worse & worse, that I'm too upset & have been discharged. They know that no one will touch me until the end of September, but my wellbeing is the last thing on their mind. Since they discharged me & just dumped me where no one else can care for me, I'm now to suffer until the end of September & who knows what else damage is occurring as when I started complaining...again...because of their idiocy, not because I'm difficult, but I'm real tired of the idiocy, they just dumped me. This is totally ok in AZ because we have so much corruption here, no one will legitimately help us unless there's millions & millions in it for them, and thats how they like it. Because I've complained to #markkelly & got more radio silence. I miss New England so hard. At least that state had justice for their wronged patients. 2025 Total Hip Replacement at Core North Phoenix. Posterior approach (bad choice), but by all accounts (x-rays and other MD opinions) very successful. The bad news is that I have pain in my upper left leg (thigh). While I am on Diclofenac, the pain is much reduced but I still cannot jog on it. When off the Diclofenac, the pain is substantailly increased. I went to see my Surgeon about it twice, and he gave me off-the-cuff reasons -based only on past experience. No testing, nothing. He even brought up a five-year old xray of my lower spine and said, "There's your problem!" So he suggested my spine is shooting nerve signals down my left leg. I couldn't disagree more. Was he simply saying I just needed to go down the hall and have my spine fused?? Apparently! I am speaking with the Patient Advocate folks before I escalate this to an attorney to see what options I may have. Core did fine before and during, but the post-surgery response has been vacant. read more

Dr Chutkin laughed at me and had his colleagues laughing at me. My back hurt he couldn't find anything I asked for MRI so he can see more. But he told ins. not medically necessary so I paid out of pocket. He said welcome to old age there is nothing wrong with you. Well just because he couldn't see anything he should've told me to go to my primary care and seek further help because it wasn't at an orthopedic level. Unfortunately, I have cancer of the bone marrow. It's called multiple myeloma. He couldn't see it because it's at a cellular level but to laugh at a patient and tell them they're just getting old is very unprofessional. read more

This is not the place to turn to if you actually are in desperate need of quality health care. All they are concerned about is money, bottom line. If I were basing this review SOLELY off of my experience in 2019, I would give a positive review. One of the surgeons operated on my lower back in the fall of 2019, and it was very successful. This same surgeon also determined at that time that I would need to return within a few years to have my neck operated on as well. Then COVID happened. I was not able to get in for my neck surgery, and because I wasn't experiencing any urgent symptoms, I also thought it could wait. Until earlier this year, in February, when my extreme neck pain alerted me that this now needed to be taken care of. Of course, I reached out to the same surgeon who successfully operated in my lower back. Also, he already had my records from 2019 indicating that he determined I would need neck surgery. Let me also say that this last year has been filled with extremely unfortunate events in my life, that have caused financial and emotional stress. I am one of the unlucky Americans who cannot afford health insurance. However, I was able to find a low-cost clinic to order an updated MRI for my neck. That MRI alone cost a pretty penny without insurance. When I called to set up a "pre-surgical consultation", again, already knowing I needed neck surgery in 2019 (it has only gotten worse), they told me I would be considered a "new patient", since it had been 7 years. I asked them to please reconsider, as 2 years of that time was because of a pandemic (out of my control), and I explained I do not have insurance and am not able to work because of the excruciating neck pain. They still set me up as a new patient and charged me $500 (ONLY needed to pay $250 at the time, and would be billed for the rest) for a new patient visit. I didn't get to see the doctor. I saw his assistant, who was rude and curt. When she saw I didn't have insurance, she said, "This surgery is well over $100,000. How do you expect to pay for this without insurance??" First of all, that is none of her business. She does not work for the financial department. Secondly, this was just rude. I felt like a dirty poor person who suddenly was not worthy or deserving of quality health care. Because of my lack of insurance, she flat-out refused to schedule my absolutely NECESSARY surgery. She said (and I quote), "You need to see the surgeon...and I can tell you right now that he probably won't feel comfortable scheduling you for surgery either, since you don't have insurance." Whaaaaaaat?!?! So much for the Hippocratic Oath! I even called and spoke to their patient rep, and the best she was able to come back with was, "have you tried physical therapy?" (Laughing, considering one of THEIR doctors already had it noted in my records that I had, indeed, tried PT for years leading up to 2019) What. A. Joke. Complete waste of time. Guess what? I found a different surgeon. Dr. Erik Curtis with Atlas Neurosurgery. He gladly got me in quickly, AND he did my surgery within a couple of weeks. I am now recovering and feeling so much relief being out of that horrible pain. I am so glad that I found a truly lovely doctor who is a doctor for all the right reasons. He actually cares for his patients, and he didn't require me to jump through a bunch of b.s. hoops in the name of financial gain. Do not go to The Core, unless you are filthy rich and don't require any respect or decency. The Core should be ashamed of themselves and their lack of empathy or care. Erik Curtis is amazing-anyone in need of a CARING surgeon who actually abides by the Hippocratic Oath, go directly to him. Do not waste your precious time or money on this rip-off who truly did not show me an ounce of care. It was all about the money that I don't have, and that is truly sad. And they can keep billing me for that other $250. I don't have it now, and I never will have it for such a waste of time. Go ahead and keep wasting paper sending me that bill though. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience with Rachelle Murray, PTA was absolutely unacceptable and honestly shocking for a healthcare professional. The disrespect started immediately. My foot began having muscle spasms, and instead of showing concern, she looked at me and rudely asked, "Are you doing that yourself?" as if I was faking it. Completely unprofessional. Then she started massaging my ankle. I told her multiple times that it hurt. Her response? "Well, your doctor feels you need to be in physical therapy, that's why you're here." I told her clearly that I requested physical therapy myself my doctor didn't just send me here. That's when she snapped back: "You're not a doctor, you can't write your own script." The attitude was completely unnecessary. It continued downhill from there. I told her I have CRPS and I'm extremely sensitive to touch. Instead of adjusting or showing any concern, she ignored it. When the pain became unbearable and I pulled my foot away, she said: "Your file doesn't say you're sensitive to touch." So instead of listening to the person in front of her, she wanted to argue with a chart. She then compared me to other CRPS patients: "I've been around other CRPS patients, they don't act like this." No CRPS patient should EVER be compared to another. Everyone's pain level is different. Her comment was rude, dismissive, unprofessional, and medically inappropriate. After all this, I asked for a supervisor. She rolled her eyes, huffed, puffed, and walked away. And instead of sending a supervisor like I requested, they sent another therapist to try to smooth things over like they hoped I would just let it go. Let's be honest: they brushed the entire situation under the rug. I left feeling disrespected, ignored, dismissed, and discriminated against because of my condition. And let me repeat this loud and clear: Some things cannot just be brushed under the table. This was wrong and absolutely needs to be addressed. PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: I will NEVER work with Rachelle Murray, PTA again. If you have CRPS, chronic pain, or any condition requiring compassion or sensitivity, protect yourself request a different therapist immediately. Healthcare should make people feel safe and supported. This experience did the exact opposite. read more

Simon Med has thousands of complaints, is not BBB accredited and is a terrible company. I question why the Core Institute uses them? It's clear Simon Med has contracts and relationships so customer experience is not a priority. My question is why does the Core continue to require its patients to do business with such a terrible company"? I went in with an issue the doctor diagnosed in 3 minutes. The first doctor in 40 years to tell me specifically what the problem is. He tells me how he wants to treat it and schedules it. I have the procedure, and it did help some, but not a lot. When I met with the doctor for a follow-up on the procedure, he says, "Well, it worked some. I'll go back in and do a lot more." I'm thinking, "Great. A little helped a little, so a lot will help a lot." We'll, a lot didn't do anything. I went back for the follow-up and filled out a for as to how much it did or didn't do. The doctor walks in the room and says we'll it didn't work so here are a couple of names that might be able to help. We were then dismissed. No input as to why it may or may have not worked. No "here's what else we can try." Nothing. It's like this guy went to school to learn to inject the sternum then said. "Im good. That's all I need to know". This is about the massive incompetence of the appointment office. First they made a mistake with my phone number and called someone else, then with my first name they could not figure out, then re-scheduled my phone appointment aiming at scheduling my surgery later (due to their mistake), and finally sent me an email to confirm that appointment... with a link that did not work. I had to waste my time again to call them, telling clearly to the girl on the phone: "I am confirming my new appointment, your email system does not work". "OK, so you are canceling your appointment?" answers the girl.... ??? That after I spent 2 hours on the phone yesterday due to their incompetence and total confusion. Dr Paul Sousa Core Institute: First new hip 2022, half hour surgery, walked in walker 2 miles that night, used cement my age 75 June 2024, pain in hip, X-rays and Dr Sousa said , " grey areas" return in a month, the cement had fallen apart, so hip loose. Nov 2024 Revision hip surgery , acute pain, unable to walk for 3 days without help. Doctors told close hospital for thanksgiving, I refused To leave. Jan. 2025 using cane, difficult walking, PT 7x a week. May 2025 xray shows femur cracked , healing on its own . Dr Sousa doesn't know how that occurred! June 2025, still do steps one at a time , need hand to push off toilet seat, steady dull pain. My quality of life was destroyed at 75, Dr Sousa and young orthopedics ,and their bots, want to fix us " vintage". if I had been told, there is a 1% chance of cement failure and revision My answer, No Thanks! Review of Dr. Mark Campbell On October 27, 2025, I had my left hip replaced by Dr. Campbell. The results are very disappointing and unacceptable. My leg is now longer than my other leg. I cannot walk without a noticeable limp and back pain. I have to wear a shoe lift to level my legs. Standing for any length of time is unbearable for my hips and back. I am now seeing another orthopedic surgeon who said my hip replacement by Dr. Campbell is unacceptable. The femoral bone was not cut at the proper angle, and the femoral stem is too small and incorrectly placed. On the Core Institute Website, it states; "The CORE Institute are experts and educators in the latest innovations such as computerized navigation and robotic-assisted surgery." Dr. Campbell did not use robotic-assisted surgery. I would advise anyone considering knee or hip replacement surgery to see surgeons who use the latest technologies and techniques. I do not recommend Dr. Mark Campbell for hip replacement surgery. My quality of life and mental health have been deeply affected. I am unable to perform the activities I did before surgery. read more

Worse customer service. They cancel appointments last minute and then rescheduled it without even speaking to you (for times you can't make). When you call back you sit on hold for at least 15 minutes to change the appointment they just made without speaking to you. I get the feeling they are not concerned about the patient experience. I have reported my concerns to the management and got the feeling they didn't care. I am a primary care provider and I will not be referring my patients or family to them for future care. read more

Surgery to remove a plate in right wrist 8/21 - hand worse off afterwards doctor failed to administer platelet infusion tho told me he would do so in surgical suite which is impossible because it takes 2 to 3 hours to infuse platelets. - had to go to ER with bloodied numb arm hours after surgery at midnight to 3 am. Hand worked great before surgery hasn't been the same since - arthritis set in so bad had to tape fingers - couldn't write. Freezing digits that turn blue in winter. first time I went there they sent my prescription to the wrong pharmacy which is a big deal with you are in extreme pain from your back. the second time, they didn't send my prescription at all. I have been calling, escalating, and leaving notes for two days trying to figure out why they haven't sent my prescription and I keep getting the run around that someone will call me and they never do. I'm in so much pain they want me to get an epidural in my back for it but then leave me high and dry without anything to help me before they appt. read more

UPDATE to previous review. I had the opportunity to work with Core again through NAO in prescott valley. I worked specifically with Blake Obrock and his team. I found the medical side of their operation to be outstanding ... as in 5 star. Micaela (Blake's assistant) was responsive, knowledgeable, and quick. Appointment folks, great. Blake - top rating. But, on the business end, it was very good but a few important glitches. The most important fumble was that I didn't know I'd have expenses (about $5k) until I was getting prepped for surgery. (They sort of forgot to contact me about that.) I was also poorly prepared for what the post-surgical experience would be (I have to take at least some of the blame for that). But, in light of my previous review where a formal response came in telling me that they fixed their systems (assuming that phoenix and prescott valley are operating under the same core institute functionality), it seems as if they HAVE fixed everything and, at least in terms of communicating with them, I found there to be NO issues. Horrible front office. They could not organize a video conferencing. Did not specify if it was via phone since they were texting. Then stated could not do with my MCR even when I said I would pay cash. I can't trust that if I had a complication this Office could ever coordinate anything. As a position I would suggest this Physician move to another company. Their podiatrist is a good physician. Their office is horrible. This is the type of coordination we have gotten from their office therefore we will never use them and I think it's best. I don't use them either. I had an appt. with Dr. Siverhus on Monday, 9/15. He recommended that I see a different Ortho and that I get an MRI. I needed the treatment notes sent to my PCM in order to schedule the referral and to schedule the MRI. I called on Wed, 9/17 and the notes weren't signed. I called on Fri, 9/19 and the notes weren't signed and medical records rep left a note for the doctor labeled, "urgent". I called on Tue, 9/22 and the notes were STILL not signed and I've left VMs with everyone I can think of - the clinic manager and Dr. Siverhus' medical assistant - no call backs yet. 8 days in pain and I'm unable to make an appointment because he STILL HASN'T SIGNED THE NOTES! All I can do at this point is post a bad review and wonder if anyone from the Core reads these or cares. read more

I was scheduled with linhoff 2/3/26 @ 340. My complaint is the unprofessionalism. I received a call to come in early to end up waiting 1 hour. I literally could have spent the rest of my day working instead of using my PST. Also, upon checking in there was 3 ladies at the check in desk I was the first waiting a gentleman walks behind me to wait and your ladies are still blabbing on. One lady in the 1st code wasn't even paying attention and when the gentleman behind me walk to her she assisted him with checking in. I'm black in a predominantly white area (Deer Valley) I was definitely offended to say the least. To further add your Asian front desk rep has no customer service she's wearing a mask but whispering. She tells me to come up but doesn't say hello. I had to prompt her on what she needed from me to even get her to speak. Hands down an amazing experience. I love about 40 minutes from here, but well worth the drive. Last week one of my boys fell wrong on his wrist playing sports and ended up at the nearby ER for possible broken wrist. We left just as confused and a splint with the dr stating doesn't look like it but could be go see orthopedic...are you kidding. He's been wearing the brace, but numbness and pain seem just as bad so we drove here to the walk in clinic. Within twenty minutes he was seen, re X-rayed and fracture found. From the front office, dr and cast person everyone was so wonderful and friendly. Definitely put me at ease. We have a follow up in a few weeks. If you suspect a broken bone I definitely recommend bypassing the ER/Urgent care and coming here. Again, worth the drive. read more

The doctors are great! But anything to do with scheduling or authorizations forget it. It takes a month to just schedule a procedure and then two days before the procedure, they left a voicemail stating they canceled it because of an authorization issue. The authorization was approved. I can see it in my portal, but instead of calling me, they just cancel it. I'm so done with this place, the one universal phone number and transferring to a voicemail. This is a review of Dr. Norman Chutkan at The Core Institute in N. Phoenix. After two MRIs both saying that I have scoliosis I met with Dr. Chutkan to go over my scans and then let me know what my options were surgically. The Dr. made his epic cameo at the tail-end of my appointment. Basically he touched my back a couple of times, and had me sit back down. There was no proper exam. He proceeded to tell me that I DO NOT have scoliosis. The doctor who referred me to him told me that I DID have scoliosis. Dr. Chunkin told me he didn't know why the other doctor told me that, and tried to blow it off, but I wasn't having it. They had no real answers for me at all. I do have scoliosis. I have two recent MRIs that clearly state in the findings that I have scoliosis. I trust them more than this guy. I was livid. WTH is wrong with these doctors? Are they handing out degrees like Halloween candy to anyone now? I believe now that he just glanced at my MRIs which consist of hundreds of images, btw. Before he strolled in to my appointment. I believe he never even read the findings from the MRIs. If he did he completely ignored them. The people that look at scans like that are very complete. They spend plenty of time to properly diagnose the scans, and he just ignored their findings. I've never heard of or seen a Dr. In my entire 52 years act like that and completely ignore the professional findings of recent scans. You can tell he thinks he's always the smartest person in the room. Sometime's, he's not, but don't tell him that. I called their headquarters and relayed my experience today to them. Lindsay swore that I would be getting a call back today to discuss this further. Alas, they did not call me back today. Maybe tomorrow, but frankly I doubt it. They talk a good game, but when the rubber hits the road, it's crickets from the Core Institute. read more

Talked to surgeon on April 13th or 14th are an L4-L5 laminectomy... Got PCP to clear me and was scheduled for surgery on the first Monday of May. CORE called me because they hadn't received the clearance... Even though they got the clearance (I saw the fax record) they cancelled my surgery without even telling me. When I was waiting to be taken in they told me about the cancellation and said they never got the fax .. the day after they found it and told me the next possible appointment would be 2 months at the planned hospital.... I said "let's change hospital". We did and was scheduled for May 12. Showed up and was told it was cancelled again because someone there never "pre-authorized" insurance for the different date. I called my insurance and they said there's no such thing as requiring this as their authorization was good for a year. Had spent a week and a half waiting for a scheduler to return my call which never happened. Finally I got through by calling at the right time and they said they had no record of my messages or that I needed to reschedule at all. I did get emails regarding how my recovery was coming along from a procedure that never happened. When I tried to reschedule with the person who answered (which was Dr. Jackson's surgery scheduler) they said that I would need to schedule a return call in order to schedule a new surgery date ... Wtf? So now it's 2 weeks later and hopefully I'll actually get the call I scheduled in order to schedule. There's a serious disconnect somewhere in this department. Meanwhile I've been in constant severe pain and no meds. Situation sucks and my procedure should have happened a month ago if they had only paid attention to their faxes. read more

Everything you do - questions, scheduling, calling someone right back - etc has to go through the call center. Major wait time to talk with a live person at the call center, no way to reach an individual office unless transferred, and then another very long wait. I was initially impressed because the first person I spoke with (didn't know it was a call center), seemed to know his stuff. Got to my first consult, I was told to get there early for an x-ray. Done. Well, they don't do x-rays there, so that didn't happen. Then I was given the referrals for an MRI and an x-ray, done. Consult again to go over results, and was sent to pain management (different office locations, different days). Went to that appt, waited for 45 minutes, Dr said my case was urgent and they would schedule me for a cortisone shot before I left for my trip which is coming up early next week. Upon leaving the office, no one was in the lobby for 10 minutes so I had to leave. Missed the call from them, no message was left. Called, got the call center. Couldn't connect me with anyone at 2:30 pm because there were no more 'phone appointments' available today, so they would call me Wednesday morning to sched the cortisone appt. The act of scheduling a cortisone shot is an "appointment"? Unbelievable. I leave next Tuesday. This won't work. Dr is only doing his injection clinic on Wed & Thursday of this week. Left a message with the hopes I can get this handled before my trip. Extremely disappointing all around. The PA / Dr I met with were very nice and educated, but the entire process is crap - overpromising, under-delivering, as well as not being able to reach anyone is infuriating. Truly the worse patient experience I have ever had in my life. Calls and messages are ignored. Won't do prescription refills of any sort. Been lied to saying that they where refilled and not. It wasn't until I said I would leave a bad Google or Yelp review that I got any sort of response. I would not recommend The Core Institute to any one. I have had to get pain medication from my pcp because they ignore me and would not fill my prescrptions. Clearly no regard for patient pain. Had a very pleasant appointment there this morning. Very large practice and didn't wait long at all (maybe 10 minutes) to see the doctor. I saw podiatrist Mellisa Galli who was sooooo wonderful. Her "bedside" manner was warm and inviting and her knowledge of her craft was incredible! I have been to podiatrists before and left feeling unsatisfied. Not today! Well done doc! Also, after making the appointment (by the way, I was able to make a NEXT DAY appointment) I received a text with a link to fill out paperwork before arriving. Wow! So easy and thorough it also allowed me to upload my insurance card and driver's license. When I arrived as a new patient, I expected 20 minutes of paperwork. But NOOOOO.... I have major neck pain and NO ONE returns my calls for help. Specifically I need an MRI done of my neck because I have a pacemaker. They have to do a special one we have to lay on my back and they put something under my head to hold it steady. That's apparently where they call it. The camera resides when I tried to lay on that the pain was intense. I've had a lot of things that hurt in my life, but this was pain wise. This was a 13 on a level of one to 10 crazy bad but they have a way around it they can knock me out IV sedation they call it. I need it but the people in the office do not return the calls so I can't get it. It's disgusting. I've already been going through this for over two months because you're so blasted slow to do anything don't go to Corps. The work is good but if you have anything that's out of the ordinary or requires personal tension like this they're terrible. They're admin stuff the worst thing I've ever seen. read more

I'm writing review for Core institute in sun city Couldn't be happier with the treatment, the staff the facility so clean. My doctor Dr. Holmes was fantastic. I saw PAC Greener. Her reaction to my MRI was skeptic. She stated that radiologists do not know what they're doing and she doesn't believe what the diagnosis on the MRI report was correct. She ordered an X- Ray. She saw that my nerves was pinched. LMAO... nerves on X-Ray!!! She needs to go back to school. This is an ignorant, cocky PAC that has not spent 15 years in med school. She was supposed to submit a referral to physical therapy . She said, wait about for 5 days to get contacted, I called and she never submitted the referral for Physical Therapy. Being so smart, since radiologist can't read MRI and she can see more on X- Ray, why didn't she follow thru on my referral? I had to go back to my PCM to submit the referral. She not a medical person I would ever want to see. I won't be going to Core, ever again. She needs to learn how to speak to patients. She lacks bedside manners. read more
