Three stars for a posh looking but terrible service establishment in central Glasgow, Scotland. I haven't experienced service this bad in a loooooong time. We didn't see our waiter until about 20 minutes in, only to then wait another 15 min for our champagne bottle service, seeing that it was Moet & Chandon's anniversary party. The champagne was WARM. Absolutely gross. We then had to wait another 15 minutes to get our server's attention to ask him for a cold bottle, which again took its time to arrive. Since we were there for drinks, we had some light apps. The food was surprisingly delicious. We had the size salad, onion rings, and Parmesan truffle fries, which were all very good. The truffle fries tasted like they were deep fried in truffle oil, which was delightful. I will be thinking about those fries for a while. They tried to remedy the terrible service by only charging for the champagne, which was nice. I will be back, but mostly to look at the stunning architecture

Based on appearances only, The Corinthian is one amazing place. A very traditional building style, with beautiful high part-glass ceilings, and chandeliers, it is very grand indeed. The decor is actually very modern in the bar area - an entire white bar, and dark wood furniture, it looks the part - and the Piano Bar is lovely and dark (like some old style entertainment area for men with cigars and brandy). BUT, for everything else, it's kinda lacking. Our waitress seemed a bit dithery - she didn't write our orders down, and then came back to ask us twice what we had ordered - and the food when it arrived was quite... well... boring. Ok, there are only so many ways you can jazz up a burger, but it looked like it had been haphazardly thrown together. The drinks were fine - the wine tasted like wine, so I was happy. The bill was the most disappointing part - over £15 for a burger and a (small) glass of wine! Sheeesh! I won't be back in a hurry, but I'd recommend you pop in - even if it's just for a quick squint at the surroundings.

Come here for the drinks and the atmosphere. It's housed in an old bank and thus absolutely gorgeous interior. The special banquet rooms are all beautiful. However the food was sub par. the live music was not so great. our singer was...well not what one would expect of such a posh venue. however she did play the piano well. because of the setup, the acoustics here are not great so expect a lot of loud chatter. this is not a cozy intimate atmosphere but more bustling and loud.

I'm not exactly sure what the big deal is about this place. I've never had the desire to go in, but after a surprise birthday party for my guy, a few of us headed here for a drink just to 'check it out'. First things first- the birthday party was pretty low-key and casual and we were a bit under dressed for the Corinthian Club. I almost felt a bit judged walking in to the grand room where we had a drink. It took quite a while to get a few ciders and few mixed drinks. The mixed drinks took ages to make- my guy and I were both able to run to the toilets and back before they were done. Aside from taking ages to make, it cost 11 quid for two magners ciders. RIGHT. That right there basically helped me in deciding that this place really isn't worth it. The mixed drinks weren't that cheap either, but at least a bigger buzz is gained by liquor. We sat at the back of this grand room, in these super weird chairs. I felt almost like I was in a pram or something with this massive chair up over my head. We only stayed for one drink, but I wasn't that impressed, so I'm not sure I'll be back. It's a great place, however, for large groups and nights out. It's also good for the younger crowd as I've heard some of my Uni pals talk about fun nights out here.

Butter. About the only good thing at the table. Even the bread to put it on was lousy.

Visited this restaurant with a tour group. It was supposed to be a really nice place according to a the tour guide and a few locals. The food was awful and the service was even worse. The music and background were so loud - two of us couldn't hear each other speak at a table. The waiter acted like it was his first hour on the job and we couldn't even hear him over the noise. Total disappointment.

No amount of stunning decor or delicious food can make up for being asked to leave your table because you've used your alloted 2 hours but the wait staff still haven't managed to get around to offering you dessert and coffee. I'm pretty laid back but my patience was sorely tested by our struggles to attract attention when more beer and wine was required and the table needed clearing (we were a large group squeezed in like sardines to a modest booth table). The water when it eventually came after a number of requests was just one modest jug between 7 adults. Gee thanks! Two hours should be plenty of time to serve a leisurely three course lunch and coffee. Asking us to vacate the table when all we'd had was starters and main course was a real downer. If the service can't keep up with the time allocated for lunch, there's nothing much we hapless diners can do about it, except leave and go elsewhere for dessert. The Corinthian management need to take a long hard look at their Tellers Brasserie and make some changes pronto. What a shambles. Took the shine off what should have been a very lovely experience. PS If you are going to offer vegetarians a main course (Beetroot and ricotta tortellini with woodland mushrooms and truffle oil) use a vegetarian cheese to finish off the dish and not Parmesan. Rookie mistake.

What a grand building as a setting for the Corinthian! The clintele seems to mostly comprise the kind of people that you see on The Apprentice - city-kids. We only had a main course here - a steak and a sea bass. The fish was well-cooked, while Stu seemed disappointed with his steak - it was a bit fatty and not well cooked enough for his liking. The service, although good, was a bit absent-minded. It seemed as though the focus was on the tables full of big spenders. I probably won't be back, but it is a lovely place to see - I would recommend just going for drinks.

    Nails from the Ladies Night

This is a review of the Chambord & Nails Inc night they held in the opulent surroundings of The Corinthian Club. It's no secret that I love a good cocktail - and what girly girl doesn't like getting her nails done? So when I saw they were having a night of both at The Corinthian Club, I was there with bells on. The Corinthian always makes me feel like a "lady who lunches", and this night just perfectly enhanced that feeling for me. When my friend and I walked in, we were welcomed and brilliantly looked after from the very start. Lesley and Emma from Nails Inc were friendly and chatty while doing our nails and made me feel very comfortable going back there some day. Nails Inc might be a bit pricier than a lot of nail salons in Glasgow, but the finished effect really sold what they do to me (and the nails are still going strong!) And what could make a girls night even better? Well, of course it has to be some perfectly made French Martini's from the chaps at Chambord. I've tasted a LOT of bad french martini's, yet these ones were perfect - and we were never without a drink in front of us the whole time we were there. It was a little bit quiet, which is my only (weak) criticism - I think there would have been a bigger buzz at the event had there been more people there to really enjoy the event. And although it was billed as a "Ladies Night", I'm fairly sure I know a lot of guys who would've loved to get their manicure on and get into the spirit. All in though, I know my friend and I were made to feel very looked after all evening and went away with a lovely buzz about us - and we even made some new friends. Fab night all round!

I was here for a drink before having dinner in other place with some friends. And the place is awesome (I was here before for a blogger event) really gorgeous and feeling like you're in one of the coolest places in Glasgow. We ordered some soft drinks and ciders and the price was good based on the place. We where in the quietiest salon since we didn't have a book and the other one was full. A must in the city at least for fancy a drink!

Thankfully, that isn't the case here, as the Metropolitan is exactly as you'd imagine it to be from it's name. sleek, shiny, shallow, but with a brilliant cocktail list and a buzzy enough atmosphere, even if it is often full of people chattering about property prices. Now we're not talking heavy full pedal to metal kinda night as the participants and birthday man himself had been doing a 24 hour DJ charity gig around Glasgow the day before. So this was a Sunday night just chillin' and grabbing a few beers kinda night listening to all them dirty dirty blues. Da da da da dum! Oh and talking a whole lotta random nonsence. Da da da da dum! At the entrance it spilt into two, venue to left and the bar to the right, here I am stuck in middle..... er em. Sorry! Anyhoo we had a booth which looked like it could be closed to make a private party area. Steady! It was an all round really good night, the decor was non too shabby for a rock stylee venue with fancy wall paper and chandeliers, one girl actually blended into the wall with the top she was wearing. Nice! Drinks what you'd kinda expect to pay in the city centre but overall a fab night out and wouldn't mind swinging by again for some more of them dirty blues. Da da da da dum! Did I mention I saw The Beatles playing in the venue when we left? Very surreal!

Made from "Smirnoff Green Apple Vodka & Xante Pear Cognac, shaken with lemons and apple juice. Finished with a splash of lemonade and a drizzle of grenadine, served in a chilled wine glass." There's no denying this cocktail had an apple zing to it - quite sweet but not too over the top and pretty easy drinking. I'd ordered the twice cooked fries (£2.95) and they arrived pretty quickly and were piping hot. They weren't amazing fries, a little greasy but overall they were pretty decent and we demolished them without any trouble. I then opted to get into a second cocktail - it was a Saturday afternoon, after all. The Black Magic Woman (£6.50) is an espresso martini with "Illy Espresso, Smirnoff Red, Patron XO & brown sugar shaken over ice, strained into a martini glass and dusted with chocolate." Woah. This was GOOD. I mean, really good. A bit addictive, even. Thankfully I wouldn't be able to tolerate two espresso martinis so that wasn't really an option. I loved the chocolate dusting and it was one of the best espresso martinis I've ever had. I'd even go so far as to say I would go back to Slouch just for this cocktail, it was that good.

The club is intimately sized and follows a retro early-mid 20th century aesthetic. This is backed up by the fantastic service by the staff who address you as sir and madam. The entertainment began with RadioJam; a guy and girl duo playing acoustic r'n'b, which would normally be my idea of hell but it actually fit the mood nicely and my missus was ready to take them home with us to play in our living room on demand. After a short break, they were followed by the Fortunate Sons and their brand of Americana/bluegrass, which then had us up for a bit of dancing! As mentioned, the place is small so there's no place to hide if you want to throw some shapes. There was also a spot of aerial acrobatics by Silks. It was a short performance but threw up something different and was visually compelling. Swing is apparently famed for its cocktails and i agree. The two bartenders obviously knew their stuff and took pride in the drinks. At the start of the night when it's still quiet, they make more of a show of it and my 'Old Fashioned' was quite impressive compared to some previously had poor efforts elsewhere. Suffice to say, I reflected my appreciation with a good tip. There is a cocktail menu (which i think they vary each week) but they will make whatever you like. Also, while it's quiet at the start of the evening you will get table service but understandably this peeters off as the club fills up. Cocktails are pricey so take plenty of dosh if you're going to be ordering a few. However, beers etc., are more reasonable. Another thing I liked was when a large hen party showed up, clad in sashes and all the usual getup, a polite word was had from the club owner to remove their gear as this, I guess, is not what he wants his club to be known for. And to be honest it was the most dour faced hen party I have ever seen! We booked ahead to secure a table at an exrta cost (£7.50 pp) but folks can pay on the door for £5. I'd recommend getting a seat.
