I was looking for a Sea Hag 12-pack at The Cork Shop, but when in checking out the employee said "26.99", I realized I had mistakenly grabbed a Little Sip 12 pack. Sea Hag is considerably less expensive. I asked the man to back out the transaction (not yet completed) and returned with the Sea Hag. He says "$26.99.". I said that is not the going rate. He stared at me and said nothing. I paid it then at home I verified the other local stores are in fact charging $19.99 and $20.99. Whether the guy was just irritated with me for inconveniencing him, The Cork Shop is jacking up prices, I don't know. In any event, the boycott is on and I do not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Great location and a lot more chilled wine than the place over by Stop&Shop. Both people working were courteous. Prices seemed on point. I saw a few unusual bottles. This would be a great place to shop for a gift. read more

I first went to this shop ten years ago today and nobody would help me find the rum brand I wanted. I just stood there. I just left. I stood inside the shop for ten years. I decided to just buy a twelve of natural light and when I was checking out, the clerk said that I probably drink my own peepee and wipe my ass with my ballsack. He took a swing at me but I was out of immediate reach. 5 stars! read more

It is unfortunate that a small local business (which I usually like to support) would have such awful customer service. (Disclaimer : This is specifically about an interaction with one of the employees. The other man working there was nothing but kind.) I pulled up to buy some beer and pick up my pizza from next door. There was one car in the lot for Cork Shoppe and, (if you're from the area, you know what parking on a Friday evening at Marco's next door is like) therefore I was unable to park in their lot, though I don't think they would have had the same issue as the man from the Cork Shoppe did. The plan was to run and grab my pizza and then grab a six-pack. As the employee stood in front of the door staring at me, I thought it was weird, but didn't think much of it after that. Just as I crossed the lawn to Marco's he whistled and yelled at me. He said I had to move my car. I mentioned that his store closed at 9, and as it was 7:50 or so, I had more than enough time to grab my pizza and then pick-up my drinks. He continued to yell, so I walked back, purchased my beer as he condescendingly told me that "How they do it there is that you buy the liquor first and then you can pick-up your pizza). *Thank you, Sir, for setting my schedule. I would be SO lost without your guidance.* If I were a small business owner and my parking lot was empty, I would not think, "I should probably be rude to a customer when they do come in.", but I have never owned a business, what do I know? Bigger is better- I'm sticking to Coastal Wine and Spirits/Harbor Package Store/Branford Wine and Liquor. The staffs there are always super helpful and friendly. read more

I had been to this liquor store many times over the last 17 years but the last time I was there the arrogant owner or son of the owner was working . I had never seen them before or them me but it became quickly apparent that this person was an A hole. When asked for my i.d. I promptly presented it and mentioned I also had an i.d. from California which he then asked for. After obliging he asked for a credit card with my name on it which I also begrudgingly provided only to be asked for yet an other form of i.d. I would rather defecate in the store than buy something there ever again. What a turd this guy was, terribly rude and condescending. I suggest you find somewhere else. read more

Talk about customer service. I bought 2 bottled of wine, forgetting one item that I needed that cost 2 bucks, thereby needing to create another sale. I was told that there was a 5 dollar minimum, even though I had just spent 35 bucks 10 seconds before... Suffice it to say I won't be back there again... read more

If you want to be a simple customer that buys a product and then walks out ...GOTO a big warehouse type liquor store... If you want a friendly and well educated staff that goes out of their way for the customer, then come to the Cork Shop...I've been many times and the always go above and beyond.. EX: They always help elderly with carrying stuff out to their car. They are competitively priced with a good atmosphere... If you specifically want something, Jamie (the proprietor) will almost always come through... I've had him order some rare whiskeys that places like Coastal could never get or so they said...Jamie took the time to look it up on the spot and call the distributor right away to check the availability.....The next shot I do is to the "Cork Shop"...
