A pretty standard food court. There are a lot of options from many cuisines, but of course it is all the cheap, mostly fried food you expect from fast food chains. It's disappointing that this is the closest substantive lunch choice when one is in the downtown crossing shopping center, but I guess it makes sense thinking of the area as an outdoor mall. Still, the ambiance is pretty unpleasant. There's usually open tables but it gets reasonably crowded and pretty loud, the tables and chains are all uncomfortable metal despite being indoors, etc. If you are planning your day I would try to eat someplace else--but if you're starving in macys right now then this will do. read more

The corner mall is basically only a food court, with a jewelry shop, a sneaker shop, and Wet Seal. They have McDonald's, Subway, Japanese, Chinese, BBQ, Mexican, and various other food options. There are a ton of other places close-by for food; I recommend you look further than the corner mall. read more

About once a year, I get lunch at the Corner Mall food court...because it's convenient, because it's there, because I'm temporarily insane, whatever. Maybe it's just because somewhere, deep down, I have this nagging feeling that there's something really special about the place. Today I finally figured it out. What's really unique and special about the Corner Mall food court is that each of the various ethnic food stalls sells a stunningly bad representation of its nominal cuisine. They've got bad Indian, bad Thai, bad Japanese, bad Chinese, you name it: it's all got that Minute Rice/industrial food service taste and texture that takes you right back to my grade school lunchroom. My office is right next door to this establishment, so my coworkers and I set up a challenge for ourselves: The goal: be the first one to eat a meal at every place in the mall The rules: one meal a day, and you had to actually eat it The prize: endless glory, and a custom-made trophy It was a grueling month. Let's just say that you're bound to get your phone stolen here. By the managers. Yup. Think I'm kidding? I got my phone stolen here and she claimed that she didn't. Why would you want to get a sub from where she works, she's the manager for crying out loud. Totally unprofessional. Took my phone case and threw it in the trash. I saw her coming in and out as I was going back to look for my phone. My fault on my hand, but really? If things get stolen here all the time, why are there no cameras for the bottom floor? I dont understand all the bad reviews . The food is fresh and very delicious. Especially the chinise food. You will be given enough food to be able to share with a friend and still have some left over to take home. ( you can get a plate for less than $ 10 , so thats a difenate plus for us high school or college students!!) Although this place is CROWDED you will ALWAYS find somewhere to sit. They have chairs upstairs and downstairs , also a bathroom and people usually do mind their business . Everyone is usually busy eating. This place is filled with high school students ( from 1:30 +) so if you dont care for the public school kids , or the noise dont come here. Samples are given out . They have quite a few different options! Best part is the t station is right by the corner mall so once your finished you can hop back on the t. Cons? It's not a Mall. It has a couple stores but its mainly just a food court , and a jewlery store. They do ear piercings in the jewlery shop. It is connected to the food court . ( But again the prices are really cheap for the ear piercings so thats another plus !) Only real con in my mind is that It is crowded , But if it was quiet it would have no life and that wouldn't be fun! Ran into here looking for some quick food on a Friday evening before a concert. My first sign that something wasn't entirely right - about 4/9 restaurants were closed already. Not like out of business closed, but closed for the night. At 6:30 on a Friday evening. In a food court. Yeah. Second sign - the Thai place i went to was in the process of closing for the evening. Still, I was lured by their large sign, "50% off all dishes!" I thought, well, it can't be THAT bad, right? Well, it wasn't, really. Enough to fill me up with only a minimum of stomach uneasiness, though I'll admit I couldn't finish my box of takeout, and really for that matter didn't want to. Sketchy place overall, with security guards that reminded me of the Fruit of Islam randomly watching over/blocking exits, and less-than-sparkling floors/tables (hey, it's a food court, I get it, but maybe a bit more attention to cleaning?). Also, trash bins like those at McDonalds/Burger King, but without signs on them saying "Trash" leading to me wandering around for a while before I finally figured out where to throw my leftovers. In a pinch - come for cheap food quick. Don't expect much. read more

I can tell you that the Corner Mall has not changed since the early 90s because I still remember going there to eat even as a teen. They have better choices now and a virtual UN of food choices. There is Chinese, Italian, Mexican, Japanese, Greek, Soul, McDonalds, etc. but let me first warn you that the food here is of the mall food grade. This is straight commercialized, lunch-line type setup. Several tidbits that only a regular would know: -The Thai place offers brown rice for the healthy folks -Sakkio Japan teriyaki sauce has ALOT of salt and msg -The guy that takes orders at Subway is like a sub nazi Other than that, its a good deal and the food here is cheaper than the eateries deeper into the financial district. If you come here on a weekday you're probably dealing with a lot of inner city youth, downtown characters, along with businessmen. read more

I honestly have yet to actually try the food here but come in if I need to go to the bathroom in a hurry. They could do a better job with keeping the hobos in line here. Storytime: I am in the bathroom stall to do my business when somebody sits in the stall right next to me and pukes his entire day's worth of food out onto the floor and not having the decency to turn around for a few seconds to hurl. 2 Stars is right! Place is dirty, sketchy, smelly, and (usually) filled with homeless people (who are ready to argue with you if they catch you looking at them). The bathrooms are scary and should be on a desperate-level for use. The food vendors within the "mall" make me wonder how clean they really are, with the sketchy look the place has going on and all. Only plus I can currently think of is that it's a safe place to hide from the wind, cold, and snow during Boston and that there's this cool funky jewelry store next to the convenience store that's nice to look through. read more

The Corner Mall food court! What a miracle! What a concept! What an inviting womb that awaits to enclose you whenever you're feeling weary and small! Yes, this is the place to be when you need the comfort of an anonymous crowd where nobody knows your name and yet they make you feel like you've joined a new little family - the family of strangers! The variety of food materials from which one can choose is mind-bending and thankfully I only deal in coffee, so as to avoid the dizzying need to choose among such a wide array of eateries. Predictably, I go for the soothing certainty of the more-than-familiar small cup of coffee from Dunkin Donuts (sadly overpriced here at $2.19 for a small cup!) and I head for one of the metallic chairs of the main court, where I can enjoy it among my fellow strangers and the warm hum of activity they produce. And what have we here as I step onto the food court? A young Asian male offering me a free meat snack? I decline, of course, being so calorie-conscious. Have you ever noticed that a single whisper in an empty theatre or, for that matter, coffee shop can be annoying beyond belief, and yet a million little voices and meaningless conversations of a food court can be strangely soothing? Well, that's the case here. And the lighting, oh the wonderful lighting of the food court, with that perfect blend of coolness from the neon tubes and warmth from the incandescent light bulbs, reflected on the metal chars and tables and wall tiles, so inviting, especially when it's drizzling outside like it is this evening. On the subject of the metal chairs, after a while I notice that they are somewhat hard, perhaps deliberately so that customers don't overstay their visit and to ensure a constant flow of patrons. The temperature, too, is quite nice for a cold, rainy evening like this. And did i mention the strong signal of the Free WiFi? Well, I am mentioning it now (but unfortunately and for whatever reason I cannot connect to my hook-up app (*sigh*). Maybe it's a coincidence, I'll have to check it again some other time. And after I nourish myself with my small cup of Dunkin Donuts Joe, I intend to survey the eclectic array of shops scattered throughout the Corner Mall, which, as a historic aside, I should mention was once the old Boston Music Hall and in fact its original entrance survives until this day and you can see it between 15 and 19 Winter Street. But wait, what do I see? Who are these agent Smith look-alike security guards moving among our tables and warning us that the food court closes in 15 minutes?!? But it's only 6:30 pm on a weekday!!! Alas, it's true, this is indeed the closing time for this wonderful food court... Oh well, all good things must come to an end. read more

The Corner is a relic from the days of a cyberpunk future, the Vangelis/Ridley Scott/Philip K. Dick-tinged Los Angeles of Blade Runner, Akira's Neo-Tokyo, or the Gotham City that Joel Schumacher ripped apart because he wanted Ahnold to make ice puns for 2 hours. Simply put, it's really really neon. Like, neon neon. You notice it on the outside, and you notice it inside. All in all, once you get past the neon, it's an interesting place, with shopping gems from years gone past (Skechers) and a food court that has some interesting food choices, and ones more varied than, say, Cambridgeside. If you're looking for a Subway in downtown, one's here, though based on the other reviews, it's hit and miss. That being said, go in and take a look. A lot of the people I work with stop in here for the foodcourt. And I have to say, the foodcourt looks pretty good! I can't really comment too much about the rest of the mall since the only store I know they have is Champs. Other than that, I have only seen the foodcourt. It's very international, and I love it for that. The foodcourts at the other malls I have been to generally have a pizza place or two, a few salad/sandwich places, and the token Chinese and Japanese place. Pretty much standard foodcourt spots. The Corner Mall has a wide range of food spots to choose from. Yes, there's a SubWay and a Dunkin Donuts, but they have a sushi stand, a Mexican place, Thai, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Greek, and a few others I didn't pay enough attention to. The first time I ate here, we grabbed some Greek and I got chicken kabob rollup and a falafel wrap. When I saw the guy make the kabob rollup I didn't think it would be enough food, which is why I ordered heavy. My coworker got the lamb plate, which looked awesome. The kebob rollup was really tasty, and the falafel tasted pretty good too. I ended up puking later that night, but I had been a little sick that day and the day before. I don't know if the falafel had anything to do with it, so don't get scared. The next time we went, we decided to get Thai. I got pad thai with spicy chicken and veggie on top. They gave a good portion for the price ($6.95 maybe?), and I added on a thai iced tea which was great. Lunch that day was also very enjoyable. I don't think this will become an every week lunch spot, but I think when we want something outside the "norm" this will be where we venture to. Other times, I have ordered the Philly cheesesteak place (though I order it as a "steak and cheese," because I'm like that). I have also been to Salsa's quite a few times. Their grilled chicken is delicious. Very well seasoned and perfectly cooked. It's so good, I once ordered just the chicken to use on a salad I had. The mall itself, each time I've gone [lunch hours], has been packed. For the foodcourt, there's a bit of seating, but you might need to navigate your way to the middle to find something empty. I used to work at this mall in the early 90's so it's always a blast from the past when I go there. The only places that still actually exist from when I was employed there are the Sulgrave newsstand and the Wong's chinese eatery in the food court. There are a lot of options for food, a couple of small clothing stores, some accessory shops, a Bath and Body Works and a pretty cool little jewelry shop there now but I'd definitely say it was much better back in the day when I used to work there. When I go there now it is pretty much just to use the restrooms since it is one of the very few public restrooms downtown where I don't have to actually go in and buy something in order to use it. There are signs there that say the restrooms are for the food court patrons only but I've always been able to use the restrooms without buying from the food court, no questions asked. The mall closes early at 6:30 PM during the week and at 6 PM on Sundays so if you're planning a trip there it's best to plan on going early or you won't get in. If you're planning on sitting down and eating in the food court it's also a good idea to have someone with you because a lot of shady characters and homeless seem to hang out there. In short it's an okay place to grab a quick lunch, a cup of coffee or go to look around in the very few stores but don't expect too much from this mall. read more

I think this food court is pretty decent. You got Thai, Tex Mex, Japanese (mmmm sushi and miso soup), pizza, Chinese, and gross stuff like McDonald's, etc. The Indian place is gone which is a real shame - it was good and rotated their menu just like the Thai place. The Japanese place is my favorite for quick sushi and miso soup. Yes it's not the best food court, yes it's kind of ghetto, but it still beats many other places and if you want a quick bite to eat it's a good option for you. There aren't enough quick bites around downtown for people who work during the day and need to sneak out for 15 mins so I'm glad this place caters to that. The only thing I don't like about this place are the jerk security guards. They will ask you to leave and even escort you out if you don't buy something there to eat. If you bring in your own food and sit down you will be asked to leave. Even though I've gone to this place many times to BUY something and then eat, the one time my friend and I went there to sit down (it was a cold day so we couldn't eat outside) and brought our own food was a horrible experience. One guard told us to leave then we went to another level and that guard told us to leave and then when we were leaving we pretty much got escorted out (like some criminals) and we heard them talking about us on the walkie-talkie. Seriously? Like we're the ones you have to look out for. What a waste and a total buzz kill. We didn't go back here for like a good year after that because we were so pissed off. I probably wouldn't come here at all if it wasn't for the Japanese and Thai place. As a vegan I would never eat at junky places like McDonald's, etc. As far as the retail stores - there's a shoe store but I can't remember what else. Nothing really that catches my attention. I think it's hilarious that the DEQ has their offices upstairs. My coworkers tend to go there a lot - I know this by all the styrofoam and plastic that ends up in our work trash cans. It would be neat if the Corner Mall would implement some kind of sustainable utensil and container plan where everything was biodegradable, compostable, or recyclable. Can't imagine how much trash gets thrown away there every day. I also wish they would extend their hours a little later. Bummer they aren't open in the evenings for a quick dinner. Very fowl smelling place, mostly due to the large homeless population that comes in and sleeps/hangs out in the food court. It's not very big, so the air just remains stagnant (hence the smell of fast food and homeless people that never goes away). Have no idea how this place gets so much business. The stores are really small so they don't have much variety, and there is a general grimy feeling about the whole place. If you can go to other places (and there are plenty of places not to far from here) check out the alternative. read more

Before a concert at the Orpheum, I went in here at, get this, six o' clock and the security guard was pushing me out saying that the place was closed for the evening. Subway: They do not follow corporation sales and other promotions. They do their "own" thing and likes to talk sh!t in Spanish. I do understand Spanish dipsh!ts! One incident they do not take corporate promotions and the other incident they made the sandwich so awkward and added woman's hair in my sandwich, I did not noticed "hair" was part of the selection on your sandwich, like really!!! This place is still terrible. It did get an extra star because of the new restaurants that have opened up in the food court which are somewhat decent (thought still overly expensive for the area). The Chinese food spot I used to go to got stingier on the food and now charge you for a bag! Yes folks, stores in the area are now charging for a bag to carry your food out in. They have it posted but they never tell the customer as they hope the customer doesn't see the small sign that says they charge. Also, why get 3 items when you get less food than if you just ordered a 2 item plate? Regardless of what you get, they give you a solid pound of rice. Then they try to fit your food in the standard container which is really only big enough for 2 items but if you order 3, they will just give you less of the 2 items so they can fit in the 3rd. I literally watched the guy skimp on my order (2 crab ragoons, 3 piece of chicken fingers and a small laddle of spicy chicken when the guy after me gets two items and gets 2 huge scoops of chicken and beef terriaki. The Corner Mall is essentially a food court. Dunkin Donuts, McDonalds, Subway, Cajun, a casserole place, a taco place, and a bunch of asian places: sushi, teriyaki, Chinese, and Thai. (as of Nov. 2014) Other than food: There's a pubic bathroom (no code or receipt required - they say "customers only" but it's the honor system), plenty of seating in a large loud echoing room that smells like food (not much fresh air), a Footlocker, Sketchers, and a couple other small clothing and accessory stores. This is in a great location close to Park Street and Downtown Crossing. Studying works if you bring ear plugs. Attire is very casual. read more
