Legendary shop in Montrose. Good selection of linens/throws, dishes, leathers, dress clothes, footwear, and even a smaller room with CDs, vinyls, movies books etc behind the register. Really something for everyone. Just heed their hours, because they always close earlier than I think they do. Prices are quite fair for Montrose considering what other consignment stores on Westheimer are charging. You can get good quality clothes here for a fair price. Even boutique items are priced fairly in terms of age, brand, material etc. Tags typically read off these things also, which I find immensely helpful. Deals vary by day, and I think it changes frequently enough. If you come here often, you're bound to leave with something. read more

This is such a well put together thrift shop and I also love that the profits benefit the Women's Home of Houston! I've found some really good clothing items here and I love that the prices are pretty standard (kind of like how Goodwill does it) although they are very thorough when sorting through the donations and only put out items that are in good to excellent condition. They've got a luxury selection in its own section of the store that is all individually priced based upon the item. These items are typically very high-end brands. You can sometimes find Prada, Dolce & Gabbana or even Valentino! They restock the floor each day so arriving early is optimal for finding awesome items before they're snatched up. This is a place where you can walk away with some amazing finds! While you may see reviews talking about how a lot of the stock is for the "older generation," the gems you can find for 20-somethings can be outstanding and so cheap! While sometimes you may walk out empty handed, I've also seen Lululemon, under armor, nike, Ray Ban, and Gucci there. Last time I even walked away with a pair of BRAND NEW Allbirds for $40! The sticker said $50 but they have different items on sale for different days of the week. I also love supporting the Women's Home by shopping here and bring my donations here as well! read more

This thrift store is adjacent to (and affiliated with) The Women's Home. Shopping for a great cause-why not visit? So I did. There is a good amount of parking outside and the space inside is organized and neatly laid out. They even have special sections-designer, rodeo (that's seasonal due to the Houston Rodeo, but they had a ton when I walked in!), vintage, and a smaller men's section. The selection of clothing is fantastic. I came in on a Wednesday which is their "restock day," and I'm glad I did. They stock the best designs and brands that they have donated. I found some really amazing name brands-Uniqlo, Michael Kors, and Calvin Klein-for just a few bucks. It was one of my more successful thrifting days; I walked out with a large, brown paper bag full of much-needed work attire-most of it high quality or brand name-for $28 and a few cents. Unbeatable. I was not a fan of the dressing rooms, they don't have latches and you have to carefully close the double doors to make sure you have enough privacy. And some of rooms overlooking the parking lot had windows with no curtains. They did have some tint and some outside advertisements and stickers blocking them out, but it was awkward clearly watching an old man walk up the ramp to the store mere feet away from me while I was dressing, even if he couldn't see me. FYI-I kept stocking the things I was buying up front but didn't notice until the end that they have baskets for you to use, and they are sort of inconspicuously stacked by the registers. So he sure to grab one while you shop, you'll likely need it! Overall, a good experience here. I will definitely be coming back! read more

The location is great, the store is nice and well laid out, it benefits the Women's home but.....I find it overpriced. I dropped off some donations and went into the store to have a look. There are used items from Old Navy that cost more than they would in the Old Navy store. I looked around but could see nothing that I would pay for. This small place was a gem to find. It doesn't feel at all like a thrift shop. It feels like a men and women's boutique. The ladies are very helpful and super nice, there are specials for each day of the week, and the prices are so low it's hard to believe. Supporting this business also supports the community as it is a workplace for battered women and partially funds shelters located across Houston. The quality of the clothing is of a higher standard as well, seeing that they only seek items that feel as if they are still new. The shop is pretty clean and quaint! They have special sales each day. I wish they had more pieces for a younger demographic too. The prices are pretty cheap, but not really goodwill cheap. They have a cool book room near the shoe area that I never noticed until my 5th or 6th time there. The location is in the middle of a bunch of local Montrose restaurants so I often come here to browse as I wait for a table at one of those restaurants. read more

Im in LOVE with this thrift store. The place is self is really organized for being a resale shop. I always find great brands, for a fraction of the price. The vintage section is great. You can find some amazing designer pieces, that won't break the bank. They have different sales going on every day of the week, such a plus ! The staff is so nice and friendly, and always helpful. I've been into thrifting lately and decided to come here. Great spot! It's in Montrose and has a small parking lot. The store is small but they have a lot of selections including clothes, shoes, furniture, lots of books, home decor and jewelry. Very helpful staff. The clothes were nice and I saw a lot of high end name brands like Givenchy. Very clean and organized. The have good deals. When I went, pants were $1.50. They also have a couple racks that are discounted. Will definitely shop here again. I just wish that they had a larger plus size selection. read more

Great selection of clothing, shoes, and accessories. There is a section for women, men, and even some for kids. The quality is fantastic as it relates to the incredible prices. Found an complete professional outfit for $12.99 I will be recommending this to anyone I know needs a closet refresher but are a bit strapped for cash. I will be coming here anytime I need casual or work clothing. Super friendly staff, too. Simple, straight forward and CLEAN! Cottage shop is definitely one of my new favorite thrift stores and I'm excited to explore the many other ones in Montrose. They have reasonably priced professional clothing if you need something quick and don't have the time or money to go buy something at the mall. The prices are straightforward for an example I got a really good deals on pants and they were all 1 DOLLAR that day. Also the department store high heels and casual shoes were all five dollars. The prices are listed by the type of clothing which makes it easier to shop. I also got a few pieces of home goods such as a cute jewelry tray, a framed art of a cactus, a vintage clock and some games which were all pretty reasonably priced. I have endless scores from this place!!! Its amazing!! First of all, the kids clothes are 50 cents to a $1 every day!!! Score!!! They also have regular clothes for $2-3 daily and they have a killer selection of Boutique clothes!! This is where I got my Armani tank with the made in Italy tag attached for $5 and an Italian leather wallet for $2.50!!! They also have neat vintage scarves and old books that are super cheap!! Its also a gold mine for cheap linens and sheets!! ( I have also bought most of my dishes here..) Today I bought 4 wines glasses for 5 cents each... We stopped by about 5 minutes before they were closing. We looked for a little while and they started shouting that they were closed. We brought our item up to the counter that was marked for $2.00 and they wanted us to pay $12.00 dollars for item. This is the second time we have been there and they are more worried about closing than they are about the purchase of items from their store. We will never return to this resale shop and we donate to a lot of women's organizations. read more

Who loves thrift stores??? I do! I do! And on my early morning trek this past weekend to browse the resale racks I decided to pull into the Cottage Thrift Shop. I've been here once before, but didn't have the enthusiasm to really look, but this time I was prepared. Lucky me, I came on a Sidewalk Sale day and practically everything was 50% off! I was in search of sweaters, seeing that in Houston we usually have little need for them I don't usually buy them at the retail price. Unfortunately, people knew about this place long before I did that morning and some literally had piles of purchases as they searched the racks for more! I did get lucky and found a simple brown crew neck sweater for work purposes and a red v-neck to be used for a current "craft" project. They offer clothes for men, women and children and they are separated by type of item. They also have racks that are strictly for what they call "Designer Labels". The housewares area is pretty small, but they did have some decent stuff. After browsing I ended up checking out with just my 2 sweaters...total cost $2.75! Now that's what I call a Thrift shop deal! read more

Found this thrift store by accident and proceeded to spend about an hour browsing the racks because ... A) there's a pretty big selection of everything from clothes and shoes to furniture and general knick knacks. No line for the dressing rooms either! B) the store is neat and clean and the staff is incredibly laid back. They let you do your own thing without hovering or rushing you C) the prices are such a steal you kind of justify grabbing eight dresses at once (every day of the week is a different deal, ex: Fridays = 25% off all original priced merchandise which got me 2 cute dresses for $4.50 each). Plus - your $$ goes to support The Women's Home next door so you kind of owe it to society to buy yourself a couple new outfits... right? There's a store wide 50% sale every three weeks and I will definitely be there when it happens. You should too. read more

How have I never seen this place before? As a frequent and long-time shopper of other area resale shops, my daughter found this for us today, which was, serendipitously, half-off-regular-clothes-day. We didn't find what we were looking for but I found one great office dress for fall (sales price of $2.50) and another high-end boutique dress that I want to go back for later this week when it's 25% off. I've visited this store twice and left each time satisfied. I ONLY go on Mondays; primarily because of their fifty percent off sale on the "Regular clothing" items (yet there are brand name finds through out this section). I did visit the boutique section of the store and came across some reasonably priced designer goods. My most valuable find in this section was white ESCADA pants (with tag still attached) retailed at $325, that I purchased for only ten bucks even! Just lovely... read more

Fantastic thrift store. It has a great shoe selection, and a good mix of modern and vintage clothing. I've found some really unique clothing items here. The prices aren't really low, but they're fair for the quality of stuff you can get. I don't think the parking lot is that small- it's a pretty decent size and it wasn't full when I visited on a Saturday afternoon. If you have a theme party or need a Rodeo outfit, this is a good place to look also. The housewares section wasn't great. read more

I think I am biased about this place for two reasons: I live a block away, and their books (and everything else) are really, really cheap (I think my last purchase was 2 paperbacks for 40 cents!) It is not a huge selection of books, but it does have fairly consistent turnover and I have found a few gems such as Calvino and Murikami. I'd say that their clothes are generally not in as good a condition as the other thrift stores, but when its $1 a dress shirt, it is hard to complain and if you come back enough you'll find whatever you need (maybe slightly worn, but sometimes like-newish) at an insanely good price. read more

The best thrift store within the loop in terms of value. I go there every Monday that I am off of work because their regular clothing is half-off, which means you could walk out with a bag full of clothes for less than $10. The staff is also nice and friendly. This place has some great finds and you're also supporting a great cause. My only disappointment is that there is no furniture. read more

I've been coming here for years. The volunteers are always friendly but slow on the register. Also, they only have four fitting rooms, so come here when you have time to spare. I recommend Mondays for their 50% off regular clothes and Wednesdays, when they restock and you get first dibs on the new selection. As with most thrift stores, you need patience to get to the gold. I've been able to find high quality clothes (100% cashmere/wool/silk) frequently, even outside the boutique section. The best part is that all of the profits of the shop go to charity so this is one of the most reasonably priced thrift shops in Houston, making stores like Buffalo Exchange look like a cash sucking machine in comparison. Sometimes the clothes are outdated, sometimes they are trendy. Have an imagination and a good tailor and you'll still save plenty on unique clothes. Only four stars for their lack of authenticity. Today, I noticed a questionable "vintage Coach," similar to an authentic one I own, that was not made of real leather and didn't have the correct tag on the inside. For something that was priced $40 I figured I'd bring it to the attention of the volunteers. My comment was ignored, and I felt disappointed for the future owner of the purse that may not know better. I've had multiple issues with authenticity at this thrift store but they have been minimal. read more

This was the very first thrift shop I visited when I first moved to Houston. After looking online (and of course consulting yelp), I figured I'd give it try even though it's semi-far from where I live. I came on a weekday ( I believe it was a Tuesday) in the mid afternoon. I didn't expect to deal with very many people in the store but I was quite surprised. One thing I will mention is the parking. The lot was completely full when I arrived and I even saw a few people double parked which was a slight issue when customers wanted to leave and saw their car was blocked in...A friend I was with had to park across the street and cross over traffic to get to the store. Now other then this inconvenience, I have nothing but great things to say about this place! When I walk in I was greeted with a warm smile and hello. Right off the bat, I notice how clean and well organized the place is. The merchandise floor is not humongous and the stock is not sparse. Everything was well organized and clean! That day they were having a sale on jackets and I dove right in. Everything was organized by size and color which is fantastic and I managed to find two beautiful brand new looking pieces. I paid $3.50 for each! The prices here are reasonable for a thrift shop and it seems they do a bit of screening to have the best quality stuff out on the floor which is nice. Unfortunately I haven't been back since simply because this place is a bit out of my way to travel to, but when I do have a free day for thrifts, this is definitely going to be on my list! read more

This place confused me, but I think I left pretty satisfied. Not one to thrift a lot because I find myself purchasing more junk for my apartment than actually useful and wearable things. But when I entered the cottage shop, it's exactly what I expected... A room full of mostly old lady clothes hahaha. Very large establishment with racks on racks on racks of clothes that you'd never even entertain wearing, but luckily, I went with a friend who's a thrifter extraordinaire! She essentially had the patients to sift through the gross stuff and found me some actually amazing finds. I got a chambray courier shirt that I've been eyeing at madewell for a million years for $2!!!!?!!!? Yes, it's not actual madewell brand, but it looks and feels pretty high quality and I got to keep like $48 in my pocket which ain't so bad either. Mind blown. If you can get past the typical grungy atmosphere of a thrift shop, definitely come in for the 50% off sale on Mondays. The hours of operation are a bit inconvenient and the store is heavily geared towards females, since 90% of the clothes and 100% of the shoes are for women. I was the only male in the store when I was shopping. The selection is very small- maybe one eighth the size of a typical Goodwill store, but the clothes are cheap and there's a 50% discount off clothes on Mondays. If you're looking to shop for non clothing items, I suggest looking elsewhere. There's almost nothing here except some books, kitchen gadgets, and some mugs. read more
