I recently sent an envelope express overnight at Country Postman. It did not arrive at the designated time the next day. After calling to report it, I was told I would receive a check from the main UPS office. It never arrived for some unknown reason. However, Country Postman stood behind their express overnight delivery policy and gave me the full refund that was due to me. I appreciate that the store manager took responsibility and did the right thing for me as their local customer. All of the employees in the store have always been friendly and very helpful but in this situation the manager handled a problem very professionally which was appreciated. read more

Professional buyer in one day I had to locate four different UPS Stores across the country to ship my purchases. Got a price quote from these people of $228 to ship two vases at $100 less it would still be overpriced. I will never use these people I will never ask for a price quote from them again either ridiculous. read more

They charged me $86 to ship a four inch figurine! The packaging was so over-the-top insane that the figurine was almost damaged trying to get it out. Layer and layers of absurd extra thick bubble wrap and extra strength packaging tape wrapped around each layer. Would never ever use again. When I complained, they did take $10 off but that doesn't change my feelings towards their totally unprofessional ethics. read more

A nearby auction house had recommended this business for shipping the contents of a won lot. They provided a quote fairly quickly and were responsive via phone/email. While they were not the cheapest, it was all worth it to get my items safely and efficiently. I paid my invoice online and received my items a few days later, all the way in California. Items were extremely well wrapped and packaged, I am very pleased with the overall experience. Thank you Country Postman! Also had a chuckle at the review complaining about the over-the-top packaging. You know, as opposed to under-wrapping and potentially having your items broken. The perfect place to be overcharged! There may be nothing wrong with their business model, but they don't make it clear, even when the shipping costs seem insane, that they mark up retail prices from all their shippers...substantially, by at least 30% in my recent experience. I assumed that FedEx and others had a wholesale arrangement with their Authorized Retail Shippers and that we paid roughly the same we would if we dealt directly with FedEx. Nope. I could have had packages picked up at my home for a third less than I (stupidly) paid them. They called back when I complained, but the excuse that 'this is the first time I've ever heard that complaint' is simply beyond belief. If they package things for you, handle shipments while you are remote, or provide ANY added value it makes sense to pay more. But to charge exorbitant prices to walk-in customers, when the local Post Office is open, is simply unsupportable. All they need to do, when questioned why shipping is so expensive (they show you all the options on the screen, but all are vastly inflated) is to be honest. But then they wouldn't be able to fleece people like me...and you. read more

The Country Postman did a wonderful job shipping an auction items to me. The item was an etching framed in glass. They retrieved the item from the auction house and shipped it to me within days. The item arrived in perfect condition. They did an outstanding job packing the item: 1st layer paper, 2nd layer small bubble wrap, and 3rd layer large bubble wrap. The box was perfectly sized to allow for enough bubble wrap on all sizes to protect the item, and the box was completely filled insuring the item did not more around inside the box. Very easy to work with. I sent an email via their website, they responded same day, asked for specifics, returned a quote by the next day, I approved the quote, they sent an email with online payment instructions (very easy), I paid and the item was picked up and shipped within a couple of days. read more

I would never voluntarily use this place again. I had an auction item ship that was basically a piece of wood used as a sign. The shipping was 118 bucks which is easily 5 times what it should be. They also put me on hold one day, but actually didn't. They sat the phone down and I listened to about a 10 minute conversation about nothing. I guess they had to finish their conversation before helping someone one the phone. Crazy shipping and people who don't really give a hoot. No thanks!!!!! read more

I never has such a bad shipping in my life ! A small packet with some flat glasses ( photos from the 1850' ) almost without any protection inside and no space left . Half of the glasses arrived broken . The worst is i know most of them were broken BEFORE to be packed and shipped but this company expect me to believe that damages was made during transport by post office . they asked $154 and they do not insure anything ... see photos please . just amateurs , stay away ! read more

Been going to this place for years, but unfortunately the last few trips have had me going to a proper UPS store to remedy their incompetence. I had a a Amazon return and the clerk did not scan the Amazon QR code resulting in the package being delivered to my home. This is the second time this has happened, and instead of going down the road and supporting a local business, I have to go a half hour out of my way and give my business to a big chain. I bought a printer cartridge, stopped at a friends for a while then went home to install the cartridge. When i went to open the box I noticed it was taped shut rather than factory glued. Having had these cartridge packages arrive "popped" from Amazon I didn't think it would be a problem until I opened the box and saw the inner bag had also been opened and taped shut. Looking at the time (5:48 - they close at 6, I'm 15 minutes away) I called to complain - they asked if I needed the cartridge tonight. I said yes but I couldn't make it back there by 6. They set aside a replacement cartridge and said they would stay until I could get there to pick it up. I have my ink & multiple apologies. THAT'S HOW YOU CREATE HAPPY CUSTOMERS! read more

Wayne and the crew at The Country Postman are some of the best packers and shippers in the country. We have used them to pack and and ship over 100 items we have purchased from various upstate New York auction houses. Multiple pick ups from different auction houses and coordination is not a problem. Pricing is fair and packing is top notch. They will handle everything and are flexible with pick ups by Fed Ex, UPS, UShip, or other white glove or LTL/Freight shipping companies. The Country Postman will coordinate it all for you, or will let you coordinate your own pick up and shipping after they have packed.They are very easy to reach by phone and always promptly respond to emails. I completely disagree with the reviewer that left a one star review on Country Postman. Who complains about something being packed too well? We have never had any damage. Maybe it has taken us more time to unpack, but who cares? Everything arrives in one piece! There have been instances where we purchased large collections of similar items and many different lots from an auction house. The Country Postman took the time to mark the lot numbers on each box and provide us with an itemized inventory of each box. Super helpful and way above and beyond what was expected. read more

Seriously. I agree with other negative reviewers. This place is an absolute scam. Avoid, especially if you are out of state and buying from an auction house. They assume you won't check other shipping companies. I do A LOT of shipping and I'm very aware when I'm being scammed. THEIR PRICING IS OUTRAGEOUS AND THEY KNOW IT. In fact, when you complain or ask them to return your items to the auction house, they offer to "re-estimate" and "perhaps" they made a "mistake in calculation". BS. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I would not go to them. I bought some books & LP's Records from auction and they wanted to charge me $90+ for shipping. $50 something for book &records $38.00 for the box. Absolutely ridiculous I took a box in that was already packaged it was 16 inches wide by 2 inches in depth and they told me priority mail would be 2655 ( also told me it would get there next week sometime.) Im sending something 30 miles away!!! I thought that was outrageous the weight of it was 1.8 pounds I left with my box went to the post office and they charge me $7.80 for the same exact service that would get there tomorrow,,,.. unbelievable! I just shipped boxes from The Country Postman for the third straight summer. Everyone who has helped us each year has been lovely...Bob helped up this time and he was fantastic. Each time I've sent something, they've been extremely helpful, told me to take as many boxes as I wanted and return any unused ones and calculated the best rate based upon the weight of my boxes and location (I saw the screen with all the differing options and they were always right with the best option). I look forward to continuing to going back to the Country Postman. read more
