The Court Above Main, an exclusive event venue on the newly renovated third floor of our historic building, is the newest addition to The Wedding Tree and Downtown La Crosse, WI.
The Court Above Main brings a big city vibe with a historic feel to your event. It is the perfect location for your wedding ceremony and reception, rehearsal dinner, private party, anniversary, birthday, board meeting, and corporate conference.
Originally, more than a century ago, used as a public hall for social gatherings and later as the gym of the YWCA, The Court Above Main features 16 foot ceilings, original wood ballroom court floor, floor to ceiling windows, custom bar, and private wedding party lounge.
We are passionate about formal events at The Wedding Tree. With the renovation transformation of our third floor into The Court Above Main event venue, we give new meaning to full service.
History
Established in 2015.
The historic John Reyfuss building was renovated under the current owner and operator of The Wedding Tree, Debra Lash. Every square inch of the 22,000 sq. ft., three-story building has been refinished and is in use. The second floor holds all of the bridal gowns, finishing touches of veils and jewelry, and 6 private bridal fitting rooms for your closest friends and family, as well as a private bridal suite for exclusive use of our Court Above Main brides. The first floor has bridesmaid dresses, flower girls, special occasion and Mother's dresses, the largest prom dress selection in western Wisconsin, and a tuxedo/suit formal wear department. A new elevator has been added for easy access to the new, historically renovated, third floor event/reception hall, The Court Above Main. What once was the 3rd floor YWCA gymnasium and La Crosse society ballroom in 1931 and before, has been transformed into "The Court Above Main" reception, banquet, and corporate event hall.
Meet the Business Owner: Debra L.
The Wedding Tree was founded in 1976. In early 1996, Deb purchased The Wedding Tree and has added numerous products and services to better accommodate its customers. In 1998, the store moved into its current location, 418 Main Street to make room for our extended merchandise palette, and the move added more than 10,000 square feet of space, bringing us to the current 17,600 square feet. We have hundreds of bridal, prom, maids, and social occasion dresses displayed as well as all of the accessories to go with them. We also service hundreds and hundreds of tuxedo rentals annually.
In the fall of 2014, the building underwent renovations to its third floor, vacant since the 1930s. The result was a glamorously new, yet historically beautiful ballroom perfect for weddings, music events, corporate parties, and more!
