I'm not at all sure what to make of the Cove, to be honest. Yes it's white, and VERY clean, but there's something a bit sterile about the place. You have to order when you arrive, then wait around while they cook your fish from scratch. Yep, you get a nice freshly cooked fish, but is it really worth it? Well in a way, yes. The fish really is nice. Sadly though, the chips are very dry and the curry sauce I had was disgusting. Added to this the ridiculous prices - a small portion is £4 and the fish isn't much larger than a fish finger - it's just not worth it. The quality just isn't up to that of nearby Long Row Fisheries, which is a fraction of the price - and no waiting around. To add insult to injury, they charge 25p for a SACHET of ketchup! Might not sound like much, but when you've forked out a small fortune anyway, it stings a bit. I'm sure The Cove will attract many fans, but I'll be sticking to my nice traditional chippy thanks. All a bit sterile and dry and shiny, and doesn't nearly warrant the prices. read more
