While awaiting the 10:30am ferry we walked in from the car line-up. The orders arrived fairly quickly though I was a bit confused about when our water would come and how to get refills of coffee. There was only one gal running in and out to bring food and clear tables. The meals were truly great I thought as far as being full with good portions and properly cooked as asked. I mean nothing really special but all really good basic stuff. Like homemade on steroids! I didn't like the first table we picked as it was uneven and rocked, spilling sloshed liquids on the table. I think there are no handymen or even handy ladies left nowadays. The atmosphere was laid back but not too backwater. There was an outside area too. For some reason I didn't realize the restaurant was going to be right at the terminal suddenly as you arrive. I imagine they do takeouts for those whose scheduled departure doesn't leave enough time for sit down meals. The ferry to Sultry Bay has a minimalist cafeteria , if even that. Grab the good food first! We're were all happy. Coffee was good. read more

When you get stuck waiting for the next ferry (and you will!) to Saltery Bay, this place is the oasis in your frustration desert. Small kitchen turns out some hot food like Burgers and Pizza, cold display case with Paninis and "Buddha" bowls. Super friendly staff, always dealing with the glut of people forced to wait for their boat over. So if you are hungry and want food from the kitchen, bust in before the line up gets to big or you'll be waiting for the order. They had a couple taps for Craft Beer, which is great, as long as you are no the driver on the road trip. Last time I was in that predicament and watched my friends get sudsy for almost two hours! They have a freezer with inexpensive Popsicles and Ice Creams, great to beat the heat while once again....waiting for the ferry. The patio is a little crowded but great for the open air. Some beardo was slappin' the bass through a tiny amp, which got a little old after an hour but was cool that there was some other form of entertainment. I'm not sure if he was paid or busking, but was certainly invited there because he was on the patio. Did I mention this is where you wait for BC Ferries to improve their service between Earls Cove and Saltery Bay? :) read more

Stopped in for a coffee and couldn't resist a date square - it seems to be my addiction this trip and this one didn't disappoint! All the food around me looked yummy but I give this place FIVE STARS for being so dog friendly! Thank you - is doggy parents appreciate it SO much!! It's difficult travelling with a dog as it is so I especially appreciate the thoughtfulness when I encounter it - which is rare! read more

There really isn't anything special about this place other than it is the only place at the ferry terminal. It's only open spring through fall though, so keep that in mind. Small little family run place. There's always a little kid running around "helping" but that's cute. The food itself isn't great, which is too bad since the menu is so limited. I had the chipotle turkey and bacon panini. I asked for white bread (the other option was brown) and it must have come on rye. Funny taste to the bread. The turkey is dry and bland. The soup that came with it (turkey and veggie) is mush, but at least it's home made. I eat here every time I come through though, because it is always lunch time, and there's nothing else around. read more

What a lovely little surprise at the Earls Cove ferry. Mom and daughter running the counter. Fresh made sandwiches and panini's. Beer fridge for those inclined. Order at the counter, take a seat and your food will be brought to you. Inside and outside seating. Service was prompt and they hustle for the ferry crowd. Panini's were very flavourful and freshly made. Lot of pride in the food - these are people who care the food tastes good and not just hoping you are hungry enough to eat here. No idea how long they have been open at this location but hope they keep the good work up. Delightful little surprise. *note: the map is wrong, they are right at the ferry terminal read more

A funny place. Cash only. The posted menu is a weekend menu that they don't have on weekdays. A $6 sandwich becomes a $16 sandwich and side. The pastry I bought was at first $3.50 then $4.30 and then I get 50 cents change from a 5. "Oh, $4.50." I'll never buy here again. read more

Terrible time management. I got there with an hour til my ferry and specifically asked if that was enough time to order. I was one of two people in the restaurant and the other was already eating. Over the next fifty minutes several people who came in after me got their breakfast. I left without eating. For a place beside a ferry terminal which subsists on ferry business they should do better. read more

As far we can tell The Cove is the finest restaurant in the charming seaside community of Earl's Cole BC. Soups .... sandwiches and wraps. Log cabin charm. Friendly staff. Nice view. Best place to wait for a ferry on or near the Sunshine Coast. DB liked the soup. read more

Best soup I've ever had. Had the Morrocan Spicy Chickpea soup. It was excellent. Thick and delicious with the perfect amount of spice.

We stopped in while waiting for the ferry on our way to Powell River and I'm really glad we did! The ferry was docking just as I went in, so I asked the girl at the counter if she would sell me one of the paninis (roast beef and jalapeno) without grilling it - she said not to worry as the boat still had to unload so there was enough time to grill it up. I'm glad I listened because it was delicious! On the way back we stopped in again specifically for paninis and tried the hot capicolla and turkey club varieties, and they were also extremely good although the roast beef was my favourite. The only disappointment was that I couldn't buy the Townsite Brewery beer to take home with me - it's for eat-in customers only. But next time up we will try to get there early enough to have a pre-ferry beer. Also, I'm eating a slice of Marj's homemade blackberry pie as I write this, and I highly recommend it. After eating the shrimp buddha bowl at the cove, my husband and I were sick for 2 days with diarreah. I phoned them and they said their vendors fridges might not have been working as well as expected, she noticed this on the day of delivery but chose to serve the shrimp anyway!! Safe food handling is not on their radar. If you can get past the grumpy old man at the till, then I would stick to coffee and muffins only at this restaurant. read more

Delicious! We were travelling through the lakes of Sunshine Coast when hunger struck. We stumbled upon the restaurant at Ruby Lake Resort but only stopped for a coffee because although the chef's food looked good, the server was terribly rude. Instead we decided to try our luck a little further up the road at The Cove! So glad we did. The staff were nice and very friendly! We each chose to have the beef and barley soup. Amazing! So flavourful and not too salty. It was packed with good pieces of meat, corn, potatoes, green onion, and carrots. It also came with a lovely cheese and onion scone!
