Love this family-run spot! The coffee at Basted Baker is amazing, and the food is just as good. I especially appreciate that they have half-portion options available on the menu--it is so rare to find a place that offers that flexibility! The atmosphere is super nice, cozy, and welcoming. Excellent service and great vibes all around. Will definitely be a regular here!

This place was recommended by Yelper C. She said the coffee here is really good. B is a coffee guy and so we did get a regular coffee for him to try and he said it was good. I got the Basted Baker Hash with Salmon added to it. B got the beef roll. B said the beef roll was super tasty and flavorful. I really liked my Based Baker Hash. It was a very big bowl with potato hash, spinach, onion, mushroom, pepper, avocado, salmon and a poach egg. The place makes its own ketchup in house. They also sell their ketchup in a bottle for take home. The restaurant looks small but they do have a patio area in the back. Plenty of free parking on the street or at the back.

Quick service, yummy carrot cake, great brekkie options in a casual cafe setting. Sweet or savoury, basted baker's got your back. Ordered the pulled pork benny and carrot cake. Benny butter biscuit was delish, but pulled pork and the sauce was a bit too heavy on the sour notes (bbq flavours) for my liking. Poached eggs without sauce had a noticeable hint of vinegar as well, but reasonable enough considering the nice texture of eggs. Carrot cake was a perfect texture mix of carrot shreds and nuttiness. Paired with a generous piping of cream cheese icing was a perfect way to end brunch and fuel my day. I'm a fan!

I stopped by for coffee. Then I got a slice of the carrot cake. I can never resist it especially when it has a generous serving of cream cheese icing on top. Then I got intrigued by their house made spicy ketchup. The staff was so kind to tell me I could try it before buying when I was dithering over it. There is a bottle on every table. So I tried it and then bought two bottles. Great way to sell the products. The flat white was ok. A bit too strong for me. The carrot cake was delicious. It would have been better if I had tea with it. It was not very busy on a Tuesday late morning but I can imagine it to be a popular spot on weekend. The dishes on the menu were very enticing. I'll have to come here next time I'm in the area, just to try the biscuit sandwich or eggs benny. There is also parking at the rear where there is also a patio.

Delicious breakfast with friendly service! Loved the casual relaxed atmosphere too. This cafe offers beautifully baked treats and dishes with generously sized portions. I absolutely loved my Basted Baker Hash. It's like a warm breakfast salad with roasted peppers, mushrooms, pickled purple cabbage, crispy basted potatoes and a poached egg all on a bed of fresh spinach. It was both delicious and beautiful! We also enjoyed an apple pie and a slice of carrot cake to go. I highly recommend this cafe!!

Their biscuits are perfect. Crunchy edges. Soft in the center. Perfectly poached eggs. Friendly service with a smile. Order then seat yourself. They'll bring your order to you. Small patio in the front and in the back. Very cute little place. You should definitely try it.

Great little place to stop off for a quick bite if you're in Sechelt. Their biscuit was my favorite part of this breakfast. It was nice and thin but packed in a lot of flavor and the edges were nice and crispy while the middle was perfectly soft for my liking. The restaurant is a little small but they do have patio seating in the front and covered tables outside at the back of their restaurant.

Salmon benny on biscuits. Love the biscuits! Potato was okay

We came here for bennies at brunch time and it was awesome. Generous portions, great flavours, and that butter biscuit was so so good! Staff is friendly and there a nice patio at the back. I would eat here again next time I visit Sunshine Coast.

Everything food wise is tasty, service is very kind, you can sit in or outside too. If you get there early enough you get the food where as in showing up you lose out on the great morning muffins. Sitting inside the sun shines though the window and being there early is relaxing.

Nice light and perfectly cooked scone, pretty chill atmosphere. Great alternative to big chains Small coffee definitely small but good

This place makes everything themselves, when a eggs benny comes with house made biscuits you know it's got something good going. I was completely stuffed after their pulled pork benny. Seriously their portions are near American sizing. Either that or I'm used to shrunk sizes- coming from Vancouver. Anyway items are well laid out on the cute wall menus. The pulled pork was intelligently seasoned -not doused with some pre-made bbq sauce like many places. I arrived as the first customer as I sensed it would get busy quick on a nice summer day especially with limited seating in this cozy venue. Returned a few other times just to grab pastry for mid day snacks and they were all well prepared and fresh. Will be back again.

Pulled pork sandwich on a biscuit. Huge.

Wow, food was incredibly good and portions were massive. The two women running the show were really kind and friendly. Because of the plexiglass (Covid measure) and my lack of listening I kissed my Americano order. When I went up to ask where it was, they explained kindly that I missed the announcement, but not a problem, they'll make a new one. So nice. Food was great. Ordered two pulled pork sandwiches, hash browns, bacon and a buttery bun (there are four of us). This was way too much food and we ended up taking half of it home. The bowls on other's plates were as pictured in others reviews, and looked very good.

Smoke salmon Benny (full order) and half order of huevos rancheros.

We popped in early on a Saturday and fortunately we were able to get indoor seating for two! You order at the counter, get your seat and wait for your number to be called. We ordered the salmon Benny, heuvos rancheros, two empanadas to go (for a snack later in the day!) and coffee. The ladies working the front were super friendly and nice. Not sure about prior reviews stating otherwise! As everyone else mentions, the portions are very healthy. Between my husband and I we did a full order Benny and half order huevos. The huevos were awesome- a big portion of guac over beans, some pickles cabbage topped with an egg and salsa. Super flavorful. The Benny was also loaded with smoke salmon, spinach and tomato. I took a star off as the potatoes were a bit dry. We asked for our eggs to be soft but rather they were hard and overcooked.

Our server was a family member of the family owned business and boy was she really nice. She filled our travelling water bottles with ice and fresh water for the road trip to Earls Cove, then helped us through ordering a build your own breakfasts kind of deal as we wanted eclectic items. The overeasy eggs - while normally pretty basic by short order standards - were actually done perfectly. No greasy fried bits showing just perfect circular eggwhites and yolks. The sourdough toast was simple but tasted thick and "meaty" with just the right amount of butter. Yes, sounds silly to nail down superlative descriptions for basic toast, but hey, it seemed like everything had that home cooked vibe about it where food is made with care and concern. The pancakes were beyond basic as one member of my family who loves flapjacks noted the fluffy texture and classic taste perfection. The indecisive one of us finally asked for a burger and mashed potatoes at 10:30am. No problem was the reply. Our daughter dug in immediately at its serving and again, all smiles and dripping juices. Coffee was totally adequate, refills consistent, and the tea was hot. Price was so very fair other than we tipped too high perhaps being so tickled pink having expected more of a greasy spoon experience. And that it was not.

"Because it looks to me like a restaurant in a mid-range hotel. You know, where they think, 'People will eat here for convenience, because they're staying here and it's easier than wandering around looking for something else." Our server was quite friendly, and the beachfront view was pleasant--though oddly generic, like the decor, which looked like someone had said, "How little can we spend, and still make everything seem shiny and new?" Once we'd ordered, our food arrived quickly. But it was as though everything had been premade in a factory somewhere, and rather than employing a chef, someone in back was opening everything from plastic bags and microwaving it. (This would also explain why we didn't have to wait long.) The exception was the garlic toast, which was charred, and looked like it'd been cut from a baguette. It was so small, it didn't seem worth reordering; instead, we scraped off the black parts. My pasta was decidedly undercooked ("al dente"). It wasn't uneatable, but I spent considerably more time chewing than I could've planned for. By the time I'd gnawed my way through it, my wife was sending text messages (something we've agreed we'd never do at the table unless everyone else was preoccupied). So, should you eat here? Well, if you've been dazzling yourself with too much excellent cuisine, and you'd like a sort of palate cleanser to reset your tastebuds so everything seems delicious and interesting again, this would be a good place to go. But I suggest you wait till you can bring along something to do where you want no distractions, because this is about as generic and undistracting a meal as you're likely to have. I suppose they named it "Bubbles" because there are bubbles in the surf a short distance away. But a better name would've been HOTEL RESTAURANT--preferably in a generic font, like the one they use for highway signs.

Rickie's All Day Grill - Sechelt, BC…read more If you're looking for a reliable, easygoing breakfast or lunch spot in Sechelt, Rickie's All Day Grill hits that sweet spot between comfort and efficiency. Sitting here now, the coffee's hot, the air smells like toasted bread and bacon, and the atmosphere just feels right -- bright, friendly, and clean. The space is spotless and well lit, with plenty of natural light spilling in through big front windows. You can actually relax here. The tables gleam, the booths are tidy, and the hum of conversation feels cheerful but never overwhelming. It's the kind of place where locals and travelers alike can settle in for a meal that feels familiar in all the best ways. Service is another highlight. The staff glide between tables with practiced ease -- warm smiles, quick coffee top-ups, and no awkward waiting around. You get the sense that everyone here knows what "good service" means: calm, friendly, and consistent. The coffee itself is fresh, brewed right, and bottomless in the old-fashioned sense of hospitality that's become too rare. The menu's full of the classics -- eggs, pancakes, omelets, and burgers -- but it's the energy of the place that stands out more than anything on the plate. Even parking is simple. You can pull right up out front, no circling the block or wrestling for space -- which, in Sechelt, makes a world of difference. If there's one detail that jars the scene a little, it's the plastic straws. In a place that's so clean and thoughtfully run, that small choice feels out of sync. The modern diner vibe here deserves better -- something that matches the fresh coffee and polished tables. A simple swap to natural or compostable straws would align perfectly with the tone of care the staff already bring to everything else. Overall, Rickie's in Sechelt is a dependable local gem -- the kind of spot where the morning light, warm smiles, and steady coffee make you feel right at home. Overall: 4.5/5 Coffee: Fresh, refilled often Cleanliness: Excellent Parking: Easy and close Service: Friendly and attentive Suggestion: Ditch the plastic straws -- the atmosphere deserves better or simply add an eco premium choice such as the new rye straws popping up everywhere. Love those little straws.
