Took the time to browse the available selection of pastas, sauces, and tinned fish. Bistro sandwich - cozy warm brie with balsamic and honey walnuts. Insanely yummy combo. Spicy italian - fairly well stacked with deli meats, considering the overall size. Nice balance. Spanokopita - big triangle, a good value snack, not bad. This was a great find while passing through Squamish this summer! It's an interesting place with kind of an old-time homey feel to the decor, and they also sell some Italian groceries which you can browse while waiting in line. The menu has an Italian and Greek touch. They also have a full coffee menu, and I noticed the tea selection was especially impressive with quality brands. I got a green olive sandwich, which was an interesting combination of hummus, fig spread and fresh figs, olives, and arugula on a pita. I thought it worked surprisingly well! The overall flavour profile of the sandwich was savoury - the figs didn't stand out as sweet when combined with the other ingredients. I also got an iced tea (lapsang souchong - a tea that I really like but rarely see in tea shops) and what they called an "ugly but beautiful" cookie. I don't know what the type of cookie is actually called, but it seemed like a meringue-based biscotto with crunchy nuts inside. It was good - I liked the texture! I liked how they decorated the store, it had a homey vintage look. They were swamped when we visited but the staff was very pleasant nonetheless! read more

This is a lovely cafe in the village with plants next to the shop windows. It was a chilly day and I drove a long way from Vancouver to Squamish, I visited this cafe for coffee after lunch. When I stepped in the cafe it was so warm and comfy. The coffee was undoubtedly good. I enjoyed having my coffee and looking at the street. People were walking, vehicles passed by. Disappointed and sad after my recent visit to Green Olive on April 2nd. I've been visiting Green Olive once or twice a year since it opened. Myself and our family of four typical stop on our way both to and from Whistler every year and it has been a highlight of the drive. The husband and wife owners are delightful people and the food has always been amazing. Unfortunately on this last visit, on which I happened to be solo, the experience was anything but stellar. Neither the husband or wife were working that day, which is the first time that has ever been the case. Wondering if the business has new owners, but that seems unlikely. Anyway I ordered spanikopita which I've had a number of times in the past. When I got it, it was a different shape that what I'd gotten in the past but still looked great. It did not however come with tzatziki. I walked up to the counter to ask if I could get some tzatziki. The girl who had brought the food told me it did not come with my meal and then the girl next to here who had taken my order informed me I had ordered the spanikopita, not the spanikopita plate/special. Ok, not a huge deal either give me the tzatziki or tell me I have to pay for it ... right? They both just kinda gave me you are s**t out of luck look. I stared at them kinda confused for like a good 5-10 seconds, and then walked away frustrated. Finally, I took the first bite of the spanikopita and it was cold. Is it my fault for ordering wrong, absolutely. Could they have provided better service and I still would have had a stellar experience, absolutely. The whole experience left me frustrated and sad that these two employees, more than anything, ruined what has been something we genuinely look forward to every year. Am I overreacting, absolutely, but what can I say, that is how I feel. I can't help but think the 25 cent tzatziki sauce was not worth losing the $200-400 we spend there every year. read more

This my favourite spot in Squamish for a quick bite or to grab a sandwich to enjoy on a hike in the area. But I warn you it's hard not to eat the warm sandwich as soon as you get it. There's lots of seating inside or in the sunny patio while admiring the grand Chief. I love all the plants too, which add a very earthy vibe. There is an assortment of choices for all diets, including even some gluten-free options! But double check if you're celiac since I'm not sure about cross contamination. You really can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches but my favourite are are veggie or the spicy Italian. There's also a variety of specialty Italian groceries you can grab while you wait for your food. The service is always friendly and cheerful. And don't forget a latte to go! We come through Squamish a couple of times a year as we live in the lower mainland, but my husband tries to find reasons to go up more frequently - because of Green Olive. Seriously. The three times we've been here since they opened, we have had a build your own sandwich on focaccia bread and its been absolutely delightful. The ingredients are fresh and unique. The staff is exemplary - so generous, friendly, and meticulous. They think of everything and take such good care of you during your visit. The have a small deli section, a dry goods section with a wonderful selection of international foods, and a coffee bar. Everything we've purchased has been fantastic.
