Green Olive sandwich, "ugly but beautiful" cookie, iced lapsang souchong tea
    Dana S.

This was a great find while passing through Squamish this summer! It's an interesting place with kind of an old-time homey feel to the decor, and they also sell some Italian groceries which you can browse while waiting in line. The menu has an Italian and Greek touch. They also have a full coffee menu, and I noticed the tea selection was especially impressive with quality brands. I got a green olive sandwich, which was an interesting combination of hummus, fig spread and fresh figs, olives, and arugula on a pita. I thought it worked surprisingly well! The overall flavour profile of the sandwich was savoury - the figs didn't stand out as sweet when combined with the other ingredients. I also got an iced tea (lapsang souchong - a tea that I really like but rarely see in tea shops) and what they called an "ugly but beautiful" cookie. I don't know what the type of cookie is actually called, but it seemed like a meringue-based biscotto with crunchy nuts inside. It was good - I liked the texture! I liked how they decorated the store, it had a homey vintage look. They were swamped when we visited but the staff was very pleasant nonetheless!

    Brown sugar hojicha

Busy cafe with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Originally we just stopped by for a drink, but then I saw everyone ordering sandwiches, so we ended up ordering the hero sandwich. It was stacked with plenty of meat! I wish it had a bit more of the veg, but it was quite filling with all the meat. The brown sugar hojicha was pretty good. Even though it had a brown sugar syrup, it wasn't too sweet. Overall, it was a great snack and I'd probably stop by again (:

This is a lovely cafe in the village with plants next to the shop windows. It was a chilly day and I drove a long way from Vancouver to Squamish, I visited this cafe for coffee after lunch. When I stepped in the cafe it was so warm and comfy. The coffee was undoubtedly good. I enjoyed having my coffee and looking at the street. People were walking, vehicles passed by. I wasn't aware half an hour had gone when I finished my coffee. It was so relaxing. I love the vibe.

This is my go-to place to refuel when I am in Squamish. Great service, good atmosphere, healthy and flavorful foods & always a bonus to support a local family business.

What a find in Squamish picked up some paninis before heading off on a hike. They were fabulous. Can you guess which one I picked from attached pic?

Great place to stop for brunch on a weekend and to pick up some gourmet cooking supplies. They've got some really nice light options like Shakshuka and Mediterranean eggs. We had to wait a bit for food since it was a busy morning but was quite a reasonable wait.

Avocado toast was excellent, and my husband got the Hero sandwich and latte with a shot of vanilla, which were both very good too! I wished I wasn't so full such that I could also try the croissant, which looked so tempting with all its beautiful layers! I also liked how the tables came in all shapes and sizes. There are a bunch of things from pastas to sauces and everything in between that you can purchase too.

Such a cool little cafe. Food was great but they don't have a grill so the only egg option is hard boiled.

Every course showed real intention, but two will stick with me: the A5 Wagyu & Duxelle Nori Cappelletti was a small masterpiece, and the Duck that followed was perfectly cook and seasoned. Out of this world. What elevated the night beyond the food was the team. The chef, the kitchen, and the front-of-house were all genuinely knowledgeable and engaged. Valentine's Day dinner…read more location: PidGin food/drink: price: $$$$ review: This was the dinner I was looking forward the most to for my weekend trip in Vancouver. I had a great feeling about their customer service as I was in touch with Silvia via email about the delayed publishing of the set menu for Valentines Day. With the great ratings and look over the menu (especially vegetarian menu for my friend), we decided to book and pay for the meal in advance (deposit). I've never had a 6-course type meal and was looking forward to the nice treat, but my hopes must have been set too high. Overall, the plates were small and underwhelming. There was always one component of each dish that was unsatisfying. From the creamy yet acidic sauce that came with the ravioli, glorified avocado toast, or just a head of cabbage., my vegetarian friend didn't get the sustenance or value in her meal. For me, the duck and beef tartare were the best bites. We both liked the hojicha tiramisu, which we got packaged to go. It was a long service, almost 2.5 hrs, when we began at 8:45pm. The waitress kept it real with us, asking for our feedback, which led her to bring out a more classic dish that the restaurant offers for my friend to supplement her meal. It was okay, but not memorable or making up for the rest of the night. Maybe the menu was rushed, but the ingredients made us excited just for us to leave thinking we definitely could have had a better meal (and for cheaper) elsewhere.

Recently I went for brunch with my family for Father's Day and we had a great time. We all ordered different brunches. My brother and dad got the French omelettes, my mom the quiche Lorraine, my sister the carbonara and myself the mushroom egg tart. We all really enjoyed our dishes. Mine was light, fluffy, flakey and bright with a perfectly cooked soft poached egg. It's a clean feeling breakfast. My sister's carbonara was a proper carbonara (made with egg yolks) it was really savoury and a touch too salty for me but I enjoyed a taste of it. We also ordered the basque cheesecake. I've noticed more and more basque cheesecakes on menus but very rarely do restos do it right. I was looking for a gooy-er lighter but full cheese flavoured basque and unfortunately this just doesn't hit the mark - it's a bit dense and lacks that rich cheese flavour. It was a miss but everything else was great including the service. We had many attentive waitresses from the bar staff to the floor staff and had some great convos with them. The front of the house/bar area seems to be more vibrant colours with the bright pop of red which ties into the rugs in the main dining area. I'd probably remove the second rug but if I had to guess, I'd say red may be Feenie's favourite colour as it is a touch out of place. With Michelin stars making their debut in Vancouver only a few years ago, it seems that perhaps Le Crocodile may be gunning for a star as much of the Lower Mainland seems to be. The level of service is excellent; friendly and speedy, everything you could ever want. The food is elevated but has more non-french or fusion themes going on than before. The foie gras terrine topped with cherries is the perfect combo of sweet and creamy; the brioche really brings it home. The French onion soup is gooey and rich with depth of flavour however the cheese had a bit too much of a smoky burnt taste as opposed to a charred broil. The dover sole was perfectly de-boned at table side and my mouth was watering while watching. It could've used a touch more seasoning but other than that the sides made it so elegantly French that it brought tears to my eyes. I could have done with a touch less beurre blanc as it was almost on the verge of drowning the beautiful dover sole. The presentation of Le Crocodile's dishes are truly Michelin level. I thoroughly enjoyed the medium-rare veal with what seemed to be home-made pasta and the sauce that raised it to the next level. Desserts were great and although the mini chocolates at the end are no longer in a crocodile shape they do have a decorative gold crocodile made by no other than Thomas Haas which brings in the local vibes. There were tiny things such as the scratched bread plates, the loose tea on the tea pot lid, and a small fibre in the menu which are going to be the very difference between staying at this high level and gaining a star that will need to have more attention to detail. With all that said, I'd still recommend anyone who loves French cuisine to make sure to stop by this spot.
