That technician identified serious deficiencies and commented that whoever installed the system "doesn't know what they are doing." Following that, further repairs were made--including the installation of a missing filter dryer--but the system still does not cool the home sufficiently. I also raised concerns about inflated charges--for example, a $499 cost for an Ecobee thermostat that typically retails for significantly less--and the delays, mismanagement, and lack of accountability throughout the process. I formally requested partial compensation. In the end, the compensation offered was not sufficient or fair, and the matter remains unresolved.

They will recommend what is necessary to do now with an eye down the road as to what will be your best choice long term. In our case, they could have replaced the blower and other parts on the old furnace for about half the price of a new one (which comes with a 10 year warranty), so the decision was easy to replace the entire unit.
