I called Matt to deal with a leak near the water main at the front of our elderly neighbour's house. He came on a Sunday to check out the problem, suggested a couple of courses of action and gave an estimate of the work. He carefully and patiently explained everything that was going to happen and our neighbour chose to go with the more expensive, but a better option; A water line replacement from the main to the house. His team came the next day, Monday, and did the initial work quickly and professionally. The job was completed Tuesday before noon. Right on budget, with no surprises. If I could give this company 0 stars, I would - they are incompetent and do not stand for their workmanship or the products/materials that they use. We hired Matt in October 2021 to replace a water main. In repairing the water main, Matt quoted us $4,000 for the job. After finishing the job, we noticed that the water to our coach home was not working. When we brought this to Matt's attention he replied "I didn't know you had a coach home" - I am not sure how Matt missed this after walking around the property and initially diagnosing the water main issue. At that point, and because Matt caught this issue late, we were quoted another $3,000 for the job as Matt had already sent home workers and equipment. In the ended the work costed us $7,000 and we had no choice but to pay Matt the additional money as our tenant in the coach home had no water. This job would have costed less if Matt properly assessed the job in the first place. Fast forward to just recently, we noticed that the pipe that Matt installed in our basement was leaking from the water main job. We contacted Matt, and he took not accountability for his work or the fact that we had a significant leak. Matt simply said, that they don't make the valves and it was an issue we had to take up with the manufacturer. Matt event went as far as suggesting that we could have "played with the pipe" and he does not know who has "tampered" with it since his job. When asked to fix his work, Matt stated that he would come fix it for a $300 charge for parts only. Thankfully, we were able to speak to an honest plumber who suggested that we change the valve cap on the pipe first. With a quick stop to Home Depot and about a minute of my husband's time, we were able to fix the issue for $10. Both Matt and the honest plumber reviewed the same video of the leak, and came to different conclusions. We had our water line break just outside our house and the water was flowing in fast and furious. I looked up a plumber on Yelp and saw a good rating for Speedy. Called them. They sent someone right over. The young guy end up digging a hole in our front yard and solved the problem. Not only that, he replanted the trees that he had to remove to get down to the pipe. He did all of this within 3 or 4 hours. Amazing! Can not say thank you enough to these guys. read more

Had a drain pipe on my washer come loose and leak water. I called last night and was immediately given a very narrow time frame for a visit the next morning! (30 minute window - not all day) On arrival, Steve was professional and pleasant. He did an incredible job on the repair as well as upgraded the existing installation. Price was fair and I was able to pay by credit card on the spot (not writing down my card number on a piece of paper). Great experience and this is now my goto plumber. read more

Over charged today for a kitchen drain. Was told it was a quick easy fix and job was done in less than 20 min. I did not ask for a quote beforehand trusting that I would be willing to pay a fair price. Bill was $300plus for a 20 min job, so was very surprised. Called owner after to inquiry... perhaps a mistake that could be fixed by adjusting the price, but was told that he trusted his plumber and that was the price. Disappointed. Make sure you get a quote beforehand if you use them. Feel we were very overcharged. Not sure if plumbers make $600 per hour but I am pretty sure they don't. read more

The worst experience that I have had from any contractor. Had them replace my water main, they flooded my yard and basement and walked away from the job excepting no responsibility at all. Did not honour their warranty commitment and also ghosted me with having to deal with fixing my basement with over $8000 in damages. Also left my plumbing ungrounded after cutting the initial ground as they did not have the parts or knowledge to know how to re ground it. I then had to call another contractor in to do this. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS and not to code. Will never use this company again and found out that their addresses are all PO boxes and not offices. This is a company of smoke and mirrors. $1700 bill and they didn't even fix the problem. Invoice had no breakdown on how they got to that figure because they "charge by the job". I enquires further and got a story about how each piece of equipment they use has a charge to it. Bullshit! The whole time they were there they were pushing to spend a huge sum to "fix the problem properly". Weird how another plumber didn't need to recommend that to get the job done. Based on the recommendation of a neighbour who had had a similar issue, I contacted Matt from Speedy Plumbing when the old Poly B water line to our house sprang a leak. He came by on the same day, quickly evaluated the situation, and gave a fixed-price quote for the replacement. The repair was carried out the next day, and Matt and Colin worked hard to make sure our water was back on by the middle of the afternoon. Just had a terrible experience. Had a faucet installed (I supplied the faucet) and a cartridge replaced in my Kohler shower unit. No prior quote was obtained because they weren't sure about the shower problem. Never do this - my mistake. The only part they supplied was the cartridge (they had to leave and go get one at EMCO) and the time to do that is paid by me. Totally time for this job was 2 hours (included the trip to get the cartridge which I later learned retails for $85.00). Total invoice was a whopping $670.00 I called in a complaint to the manager and still have not heard back. I am not impressed. read more

I must say that Steve and his crew, exceeded all my expectations! I live in Deep cove(North Vancouver) and called steve 3 months ago to get a quote for a big main water pipe replacement job. He was recommended by a good friend. he came over within 30 minutes and explained exactly what the procedure was and what it could cost! His quote was way more reasonable than the other quotes that I had so I decided to go with him because he seemed very trustworthy and competent! Him and his crew, replace the pipe and cleaned everything and he did not ask for a single penny more than what the quote was! The story doesn't end here though! Two days ago because of the frost, the outside connection broke and there was water all over my driveway so I called him and he came within 30 minutes again! He open the concrete replace the connection put new concrete back up very clean and told me that it was covered under my warranty and didn't charge you a penny! I have to question these glowing five star reviews as we had a completely terrible experience with Speedy Plumbing & Rooter. We dealt with Steve and Oliver. Called them to fix our faucet. Upon arriving they wrongly identified the problem and went away for 45 minutes to get a part to replace. When the part didn't fix the problem they dismantled the faucet and when they couldn't fix it they said "our time ran out we gotta leave, you should buy a new faucet." and left after charging us 313$ for basically messing up our kitchen and leaving (see picture below to see the condition they left the faucet in) http://i.imgur.com/TZ77Iba.jpg I would recommend everyone to take their business elsewhere. read more

They left without completing the installation. We were very frustrated and called Speedy, and within 2 hours, Steve was over doing the installation. They are speedy but then you get crappy quality workmanship. I hired them to install floor drain on the house in North Vancouver, three days later it leaked. Called them back, they made excuses that they are too busy, then they gave the date to come and fix, I waited whole day but no one showed up or called. The second appointment was the same. On the third attempt I had to talk to his wife, saying they are unprofessional people. In the mean time, I couldn't use the diswahser or kitchen sink for days b/c the pipe was leaking and imaging this is a family home with kids and the amount of dirty dishes. On the day they finally came, the first thing Steve did was blaming someone had touch the pipe and not his fault. I said, regardless whatever his reason was, the pipe is leaking after three days and they must fix it. Then I pointed out to them that they didn't glue the joints section on the pipe. He said, you don't really need to b/c gravity and force of water will carry water away. BUT THAT WHERE THE LEAK IS AND GLUE IN THE JOINT. He then glued only half way around the join, I said, don't be cheap, the glue is only $4 a can. Just stay away from them. read more

Called Speedy Plumbing based on a friend's recommendation Steve phoned back wanting to know the problem when I stated another company had installed thermostats that may have failed he was very quick to state he did not want to be involved in cleaning up after another person's work. Be sure not to call this company if they are not your exclusive plumbers! When I complained to the operator about his conduct, he then phoned to say they could not come out for at least another two weeks. Very disappointed in their handling of a new customer. It should not matter who did what, they are called to fix a problem. We had no hot water for two days and needed a reliable solution not attitude. read more

Speedy services our neighbour and blocked our driveway with their van. When asked to move it they were rude and annoyed. When I pulled out, they reparked blocking my driveway again. Lots of room to park correctly on the street in front of the house or in the driveway. Just inconsiderate and then rude. read more

Our small church out at UBC had a 65 year old 1" soft copper feed almost 200 ft. long, that pinholed just outside the church office wall in July, following a shutdown of the line for neighbouring construction work. It was an expensive repair, and disruptive to church operations. The line was likely to pinhole again, so we elected to replace the complete line. I had heard about a way to pull a replacement line thru the existing line (to avoid expensive and very disruptive trenching), and found on the web that Speedy did this type of work. Oliver came out the same day that I called, reviewed the job and provided me with a fixed price which we felt was reasonable. We scheduled the work for a day when we didn't need water. This turned out to be a big job, with 5 men on the site for a long day. They stayed until the water was re-established (after 6 PM) in the new 1" PEX line. I was very impressed with the way they all worked so well together, and flexed to deal with the several glitches that can occur in a complex job like this. I would not hesitate to recommend them. read more

Used these plumbers (Steve and his son Matt) in early 2014 to fix one item + do some preventative work/upgrading - total work about $1,000 or so. Did not have a good experience with them. They had to return multiple times to get the work done, i.e. stuff installed with no leaks. Each time they returned to finish the job, they talked to me as if I was doing something wrong by calling them instead of thinking about the fact that the were not successfully completing the job they started, i.e. proper installation, no leaks. They offered a "flat price" contract and I think that was the gist of the problem. With a "flat price", they seemed like they were rushing, so the job was not getting the time and attention it needed. Will not do that again, will only pay a plumber by the hour in the future, better for both parties I think. In the end, I did not even get "flat price", I had to pay $200 or so extra, and they cut open the drywall in my laundry room. There was no problem there before they came, they only thing they were doing in there was installing new hoses (braided intake water hoses, and a new drain hose). Everything worked fine before they came, so there was no real reason to need to cut a hole in the wall, and charge me for doing it to boot when we had a "fixed price" contract. I paid because I wanted them to simply go away. Will certainly not use them again. read more

I had a major issue. Our main water line broke on a Wed night. I e-mail them around 7:00 pm at night and in within the hour Steve called me back saying they would be at my property the next morning between 8-8:30 am. They spent 12 hours at our house tackling what was a job from hell! The whole team was very professional, the right attitude and very hard workers. It was not an easy job. They stayed until dusk and came back the next morning to finish cleaning. This was on a Friday and Saturday of a long weekend. They will now be my go to plumber. We live in a duplex in KITS. Our water line to the house developed a persistent leak owing to a micro crack in the PolyB line. Steve and his team had a tricky task of detecting where the Y-junction was to our neighbours unit, and luckily did not have to dig up all the concrete walkway to find it. The used their trenchless technology to pull the water line and replace it with something that will last. The team, of Steve (the owner), his son (Matt), together with Oliver and Mike worked very hard from 8--5:30 to get this large job done. They did a great job, the price was fair, and they communicated well all the steps in the process. I will recommend them to anyone in our neighbourhood who develops a similar problem. read more
