This is one review, where it deserves way more then 5 stars, this was the best decision for me to continue, on my before " 40 " bucket list of things to do. Dolly, went above, and beyond and was kind enough to ensure the group waited for me to get there, as little did I know that there was a race happening in Ellicottville and traffic. Holly, and Debbie were the trail guides that instruced us on techniques with riding our horses. All the horses were well trained, opted for the one hour ride that was well worth it. The trail consisted of crossing the road, woods, going over a hill and the creek. My horse was " Chick", and had a blast on a beautiful fall day with great weather. Look forward to returning in the future, maybe ill be brave and do a winter horse ride. read more

Absolutely incredible experience my wife and I had. It's been years since we've gone horseback's riding and the guides made it such a great trip. We went for the two hour ride which I think was the perfect length ride. From the ranch we headed towards the hills and learned a lot about riding techniques and the area. The guide took photos for us and made it so enjoyable. I recommend wearing pants! Can't wait to go back again. read more

Had a blast at crosspatch! You schedule in advance for whatever length of ride you would like. They do different specialty rides too. We did the 2 hour guided ride($60) which was in my opinion the perfect amount of time. The guides were very helpful and very kind. The ride took you on the road which was pretty cool although my horse got scared and wanted to act up with traffic. The guide got my horse back on track and we walked off into a field, crossed another road and then went on trails in the woods, including crossing a small creek. It was a beautiful ride and definitely worth checking out. *You were not allowed to take any cellphone/cameras with you on the ride. They will have you put your belongings in your car. Took a trail ride at Crowspatch last week and we had a blast! Our guide Kate was very friendly and great with the horses. My horse was also named Kate and she was a sweetheart! The barn is modest but functional and all the staff was friendly and helpful! The ride itself was beautiful and a piece of cake for these laid back horses! The horses were very quiet and polite. We did a one-hour winter ride and came back again for a two-hour ride. With toe warmers in our boots. Great place for someone who may be nervouse about riding. The views of the hills are beautiful in winter. Next time we will try for the three-hour ride. read more

We lucked out, it was a beautiful October weekend and amidst a few rainy days we caught a break during our scheduled trail ride time and were able to enjoy our two hour ride that much more. We were a group of 4 friends just visiting the Ellicottville area for a night and decided to do something we've never done before. Everyone was pleasant and our guides and horses very kind and melded to our skill level with ease. My family and I decided to take a family vacation to the Casino in Salamanca, NY not everyone was of age to gamble including my Daughter age (7) and I wanted to find something around the area that everyone could do. My daughter and I are constantly going and wanted a Weekend get away to just relax and I knew we were going somewhere in the middle of no where and we both just love horses! I had found The Cross Patch ranch while searching on Google for activities to do in the surrounding area. I had mostly dealt with Dolly over the phone which she is such a wonderful down to earth person and all my daughter and I could talk about the week before going on this trip was how we were going horse back riding. The cross patch ranch is about 8 miles from the casino and is small but it is just perfect the entire family and friends that invited us onto their property treated us like we were family mind you we had a group of (9) yes nine riders total! This trail ride was very well organized. My 7 year old daughter and her horse (Story) had Holly guide them through the mountains at the end of the line as I myself was in the front with (beauty) with Jim and his horse and the rest of my family in between and myself as a mother was a little nervous at first but The Cross Patch Family new what they were doing and I had complete trust in letting them take my daughter into their hands on a horse. The horses are so well behaved and so well mannered I never once thought any one of the horse was going to take off with Rosario (RO). Dolly, Jim and the rest of their family and friends are truly passionate at what they do with these horses. After about a half hour into the ride I had asked Jim if we would be able to get a picture with all of us on the horses in the mountains and He did not think twice about getting a picture with all of use on our horses to capture this memory for a lifetime with my family for all of us to cherish for a lifetime. The Cross Patch Ranch is truly an amazing place to visit myself and my daughter will be back. This place is not ran as a business it is ran as a family you are not ran on a schedule it is a very relaxing get away THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Excellent family owned place that is a great time for all! My wife and I took a firefly ride on our 5th anniversary last weekend, and we had a fun time! Two pro's rode with us to keep tabs, and were very helpful in giving us refreshers. The horses themselves were well behaved and trained, and didn't "wander off to do their own thing". They have American painted horses here, so they were quite beautiful too. The land we covered during the ride ranged from fields, to mountain, to streams in between. We covered a lot in just over an hour, and had a wonderful fun time as well! We'll always come back here whenever we're in the area and have time to ride. read more

In the summer of 2011, I guided groups of English language immersion students (including 180 Swedish students in groups of 30) to the Crosspatch for an authentic Cowboy cookout and wagon ride. The students loved the great food cooked over the open fire, the beautiful horses that brought us by wagon to the site, and the old fashioned games played.
