In the middle of Norfolk they offer African designed rooms or a Moroccan garden - errrrhhh... what?! The "pub" is no pub in normal way: it is designed, clean and just for people who love to use the words 'lovely' and 'creative' for dull decoration. So they try to be creative in the kitchen as well but sitting in a Moroccan garden in Norfolk for some pub food - - - the whole situation is ridiculous. It is high end overpriced for small portions and unspectacular food - at least great quality from regional cultivation (good fish!). To give them fancy names on the menu doesn't help. In the end it took ages to get the bill and then it was nearly impossible to split the bill in different parties. If you fancy an English pub lunch in Norfolk be sure that it fulfill the standard of a real British pub! And if you like a familiar atmosphere without all this wannabe-things and -somethings: avoid this place!

It's novel in that there is no bar as such beer is served from a hatchway in the front room. Beers are mainly from the Woodforde's stable, Wherry etc, and very well-kept. Novelties include Nelson's Blood a spirit made on the premises which is worth a try if you're not driving. Food is excellent and there's a fantastic large beer garden out the back with a great children's play area. They also run a BBQ when the weather is fine and various gastronomic events throughout the year. Top class and a hidden gem.

Characteristic of such pubs, it has no bar but instead drinks are served from a serving window with the beer poured directly from casks lined up in the serving room. The beers are local, Woodforde's but also new brewers too, and are all expertly taken care of and are the definition of perfection in cask conditioning and serving. The food is also excellent and features many local products and comes in ample servings. The pub still retains the flagstone floors, small rooms, and real open fires and absolutely no superfluous decoration or tarting up. This is everything you want in a country pub and a remarkable survivor.

I've never seen a portion like it -- a perfectly battered, beautifully fried fillet stretching well beyond the plate, served with a side of salt-and-vinegar "scraps," which were new to me and absolutely addictive. The curry sauce was outstanding. And I didn't have to worry about finishing it; everyone at the table was more than happy to jump in.

(The Railway closed in the 1950s.). The pub has a bar area, with a separate snug with a pool table, and a dining room which leads onto a large conservatory, also used for dining. There is also a small beer garden at the side. There are lots of drawings featuring the Railway, and in the bar, at picture rail height, there is a little model railway that goes around the room. (It was not operating when we were there!) The menu features classic pub grub favourites, with a changing menu of daily specials. There's a full bar with a selection of real ales. We had burgers to start: a 6 ounce steak burger and a vegan burger, both served with chips and a decent salad garnish. To follow, we had the chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream, and sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream. The burgers were good, and the puddings were excellent. Overall we had a nice meal which, with drinks and service, came to £60. The pub is thoroughly and happily unpretentious. Service was very friendly and extremely efficient. We would happily return.

When I arrived I was astounded to find one of the loveliest restaurants I've ever been to in the UK that is also super dog friendly. It's always lively with a mix of locals, fishermen and tourists all mingling amicably. They do a decent range of real ales and don't mind if you want to take a pint outside and sit on the quay wall to watch the shipping come and go. My favourite is to combine fish and chips from French's or Plattens down the road with a pint of Abbot ale from the Fleece and just sit on the wall watching the world go by. The Fleece is also a great place to watch football and other sport.
