I'll start by saying I've had Deva Cuts for the last ten years. I've traveled all over the US and hadn't gotten a good deva cut until I went to The Curl Sanctuary. Ricci did an amazing job!! I was super nervous because the last place I had a Deva Cut (Sorelli Salon) they butchered my hair. I was very apprehensive about trusting anyone but so glad I did!! I booked (through their website) a first time Cut & Curl Experience with Richard and WOW! I walked out with so much knowledge and felt amazing! We started by talking about my hair and its past, my routine and what I want my hair to be. He listened intently and adjusted his consultation with me accordingly. After the dry cut (which turned out perfect), he washed and styled my hair. Through every step, he was explaining why this works for my hair and how I could do it at home. I have never really known what to do with my natural hair, but now I do! He listened so well to all of my questions and concerns and I am so happy with the result! I had the impression of salons as being places that aim to pump out clients and push products. This was totally not true here. Of course they do have products and tools they recommend and sell, but are upfront that you don't need to buy from them. But after all the hard work Richard put into my hair, the least I could do was support them by buying from them. Just to add to it all, the environment was so welcoming, friendly and calm. Love love LOVE the decor, ambiance, and most importantly the stylists! I had seen Ricci's work through his past salon and saw he was opening up his own studio with his partner. I was a bit skeptical since it was my first curly cut/deva cut-inspired do and to my surprise I fell in love. Ricci was super informative when it came to talking about curly hair, the products best suited for it, and how to apply it for best results. I had dry, over processed, limp curls due to straightening and bleach. Ricci came to the rescue with cutting it off and helping me discover organic products and ways to help revive my hair. My 12 yo daughter has long curly hair that was unmanageable. I brought her in to see Ricci and it was an absolutely amazing experience for her. He took the time to make her comfortable and really decipher what she was looking for. He detoxed her hair and taught her how to wash and style it. I have curly but fine hair. I have really never had it cut for the type and texture hair I have. I made my appointment with Marlon. Not only did he cut my hair to perfection by cutting what seemed to be each curl, but he and his staff told me how to properly style and care for my hair between visits. Sent a request to schedule appointment Friday night, on Saturday morning received message from the owner asking that I call to make an appointment and they had appointments available that day. They opened at 9am and I called at 9:12am (after making adjustments to my schedule) and was told they were booked. Sent message back to owner and no reply (more than 36 hours now). Not even I'm sorry for the mixup. Apparently not interested in my business. So sad because I have naturally curly hair and it's hard finding someone who can handle natural curls. So I did an internet search for salons that did dry curly hair cuts (like Deva Curl cuts) & reaches out to several salons. Most had limited hours, exorbitant prices & were not very accommodating. I can say I've had my lashes done by a few salons in the area, all have been great, lashes were good but no place has stood out. Found this place kinda by accident and I can say it's quaint and inviting. Marly escorted me to his area and prior to installation of my Lady lashes consulted with me on which look I was going for, if I had any reaction to previous lashes or adhesive and he actually did a skin test for verification. . Once I had no reaction it was even smoother sailing from there. The music was easy listening and one can fall asleep as I did. I love my lashes and he even added extra bottom lashes for effect. I've never paid for the follow up care plans with lashes but I did that day!! It's been a week and I'm just getting around to my review but they're still gorgeous and I feel so pretty!!! So this place is honestly all about the curl and some. The owners and staff are well educated in what works for your hair type/ pattern. As well as the health of your hair. My last visit I got a re-building treatment & it was amazing!!! I literally walked in with flat damaged hair thinking this won't work. Was I surprised when I say my curl pattern reappear. I had my first visit to The Curl Sanctuary and my first appointment with Richard this weekend. The entire staff introduced themselves and told me a bit about what they do. Everyone was welcoming and showed a sincere interest in learning about my needs. Richard gave me all the time I needed to share what I hoped to achieve with my hair and how all of that fits in with my life. He asked plenty of questions and spent a generous amount of time assessing my hair, educating me and coming up with a plan. My curls are a work in progress but I am already receiving compliments since Richard's cut, treatment and styling. Richard also assisted me with selecting products and made sure I know how to use them.
