3 out of 5 Stars This hotel has a lot going for it. The lobby is modern and welcoming, and I especially loved the signature scent throughout. The property was clean and well-maintained overall -- with one notable exception: the elevators. During my stay, one was out of service the entire weekend, which made getting around during peak times a real hassle. Check-in was smooth and the staff were friendly and efficient. Self-parking in the deck is straightforward, though availability can be tough to find during large events. Also, expensive. I didn't use the restaurants or bars this visit, but having stayed here before, I've had no complaints on the food and beverage front. One minor gripe -- the microwave placement is a bit awkward; having it on each floor rather than in the room would be a more convenient setup. WiFi was strong. TV went out during storms. They don't have any control over it Overall, I'd stay here again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. While there were a few things that could be adjusted at The Current, we had a fantastic long weekend anniversary retreat here recently. First let's start by saying parking is a bit wonky. When you check in, you have to drive up to what looks like a wheel chair ramp. Check in and then either valet or self park. We were confused but you're supposed to get a QR code from the valet if your self parking to get in the garage. Garage was very limited. Next the pool area was great, but not nearly enough chairs. Get there early and don't leave. The bars and restaurants were all nice. Rusty Pelican next door was great, however I heard they're closing soon. The room had an AMAZING view of the bay. Especially in the evenings with the sunsets. The bed, bathroom and room amenities were all fine, shower was great. A very swanky, out of the way place with not alot of parking, nor space at the pool, but super nice none the less. read more

We tried few drinks at the hotel bar, situated in the ground floor of the hotel. The bartenders were sweet and courteous. Sadly i didn't care for the drink, too sweet for me. I asked the bartender to add jalapeños to the drink but there was a miscommunication, he only added as a garnish. The jalapeños would've cut the sweetness of the drink. What an absolutely fantastic hotel! My company recently began having our layovers here and the great thing about this hotel is everything you need is inside. They have a store inside. We're not only are we offered a discount but the prices are low. There's a full bar. There are three restaurants and a 24 hour coffee shop. 24 hours for a coffee shop is insane in regular life, but having it in a hotel is fantastic! While the pool was beautiful, at this time it's closed for renovation. There's artwork all around that list who the artist is, and if you want, you can purchase it. Which I thought was super cool. The rooms are giant. I'm talking. These had to be one bedroom apartment apartments at some point. I've never had a bigger hotel room in the city. The one thing I loved about the rooms was although it was extremely spacious it didn't feel like they made it that way so that it would be empty. The space was well taken care of and used. There was a nice lounge that I lay on to do some work. There was a desk. There's a safe located inside the desk as well as a full-size closet a large mini fridge, a giant bathroom and I had sweeping views of the Tampa Bay. But you wanna know my absolute favorite part about this hotel? The private beach! You can enter the beach by walking through the hotel out through the balcony down some steps where there are lounges and chairs as well as tables you can sit under umbrellas, or out in the sun if you're trying to get a tan. No one else can come to the beach since it designated just for the hotel. It was such a beautiful stay! read more

I had a beautiful room in a corner with a water view. Bed was comfy. Room clean. Makeup mirror which is always a treat! Gym was nice but no sanitary swipe the first or second day. I called the second day and they were delivered almost immediately. Very clean and everything worked. Beautiful lobby. Can walk next door to restaurant. Lobby hotel store had unique offerings. I'm a little surprised at the low rating on this hotel, we had a great stay. The hotel itself is beautiful and well maintained. The staff we encountered were all great and nice. We stayed for 3 nights while in town for a friends birthday. It was a nice touch to receive champagne at check-in. There's a restaurant, lobby bar and rooftop bar at this property. We had food from the restaurant twice and it was really good both times. Our room was a great size and had a beautiful view of the bay. The star of this trip though, was a gentleman named St. Claire (I believe), I think he was a manager. But he was so incredibly kind and helpful!! He took our order one night at the host stand at the restaurant because we just wanted it to go so we could go hang out in our room. He proceeded to ask us if we wanted a drink and he brought the drinks to us in the lobby. How kind!! Then the next night I was hungry and it was after 10pm. I called the front desk and asked the guy at the lobby bar about food options, both people couldn't tell me any info on if the rooftop bar had any food options. Neither did either of them offer to call up there and ask. I tried to call and no one answered so I was a little irritated and ran into St. Claire!!! I asked him if he knew any info and instead he offered me a to-go Chicken caesar salad for free. Wow, just wow! This is above and beyond customer service and it saved the whole day!!!!! The room was clean when we first arrived, but after that the service completely fell apart. We stayed for two days and housekeeping never came once to clean the room, even though we asked multiple times. For a hotel, that's just unacceptable. What made it even worse was the way the manager handled it. We spoke to them hoping they would help, but they were dismissive and clearly didn't care about the situation or about us as guests. Instead of fixing the problem, we basically got brushed off. A hotel should at least provide basic service like housekeeping and respectful management, but this place failed at both. Very disappointing experience and definitely not somewhere I would choose to stay again. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL read more

Great stay here. The room was amazing. The staff were kind and attentive. I definitely recommend a bay view if possible. The room had many amenities--robe, iron and iron board, ice maker, coffee maker, etc. I only wish there were slippers provided. Overall, great hotel in a good location. read more

Stayed here for work (which was in walking distance) and got a good rate. Don't seem super busy and everyone was very friendly. Valet parking is $30/night so beware. The free office parking across the street could be another option. Rooms were clean and made every day. Very stylist lobby and art displays. Excellent little lobby restaurant. Please see my other review on the rooftop restaurant Casa Cami, also not bad. The lobby bar is supposed to be open 11am to midnight, like the rooftop restaurant. But it appeared to more like till 11:30pm. BTW, The hotel "shop" by reception doesn't have a large selection of snacks like some Marriott hotels. Most of the soda is cans not bottles :-) read more

This hotel smells amazing when you walk in. Front desk was nice and they offered champagne or wine! Nice big lobby and two restaurants to pick from. We tried Mexican and it was yummy. I recently stayed at the Current Hotel while traveling for business (8/19/24). As a lifetime Titanium member, I've had the pleasure of experiencing a plethora of Marriott properties. The Autograph collection of hotels were previously a top choice. Lately, some of the hotels in this collection have been hit or miss. Sadly, Current Hotel was a miss for me. The room felt unclean and was extremely worn. My understanding is that the entire hotel was recently renovated. If so, why is there was so much visible damage? I chose this hotel based on the pictures and reviews found in my Bonvoy app. I've included pictures here to show how used my room was. The price was significantly lower than expected, which was a plus (and maybe that should've been an indication). The view was wonderful, and the hotel ambiance upon entering the building was great. Based on the room condition, I'm unsure I would stay at or recommend this hotel. read more

Enjoyed our stay at the current. Valet, front desk and housekeeping staff was top notch. Bar service was okay. She didn't want me to stick around and order additional drinks. I'm really trying very hard not to lose my mind over the screw up that took place while we were staying at this hotel. I brought a dry cleaning bag to the front desk on Friday morning with same day dry cleaning service to pick up at 6pm. I got back to the hotel at 8pm, my bag and dress were "lost" but hopefully they would be cleaned and returned to me in the morning. I shared that I needed these dresses for a wedding the next day. When I went down after my run on Saturday morning, the same bag was returned to me in the same state I had dropped it off, and when I started to lose my cool the staff let me know there's no dry cleaning on weekends... Front desk staff are friendly but completely aloof. No manager was present at the time of pick up. I'm still in shock and trying to figure out what I am going to wear to this event, in 3 hours. I don't have an outfit to wear to an afternoon wedding. I wish I had stayed at literally any other hotel. I've never had this happen with other dry cleaning anywhere. read more

This is a LOUSY hotel that pretends to be an elite hotel. When you drive up, you immediately realize the parking situation is a total disaster. A guy from the hotel actually guards the road the hotel is on, and will not let you through unless you stop and explain to him you are staying here. I don't understand the purpose of this as there isn't much else near the property, so I have no clue who else would want to use their parking just because. Then, you pull up and realize your options are (A) overpriced valet or (B) a really tiny parking garage without enough spots. This is a huge problem because, if you choose the garage, you will get billed at a specific rate. But if you arrive back late in the evening and all the spots are filled, you then need to park valet at a much higher rate. Which causes all sorts of anxiety about whether you will be double billed or how the hotel will handle all this madness. At the end of the day, this place is NOT designed for people with a car who like to come and go easily and freely. It is a nightmare from that perspective. Anyway, when we checked into the room, we sat down and could immediately hear every minor conversation the room next to us was having...through the air vent. They weren't even being loud, just talking normally. That told me this place is shoddily constructed and privacy is not a thing. We immediately checked out. Do not be fooled by what seems like a five star place. It isn't. You're paying for a good view and essentially nothing else. And for the price, there are much better options in town. read more

Really great hotel! Location is close to the airport with a restaurant inside, and another walkable one right around the corner. Lamont at the front desk is awesome. 5 star. Ginger at the front desk... opposite of awesome personality and kindness wise. 2 star. Super modern and clean, make sure you don't get an adjoining door room is all, apparently those are the ones that you can hear through the guy said. Only mentioned because people are reviewing the noise levels... I'd recommend the corner rooms for sure! Amazing view. GET the yogurt parfait on the morning! You actually get two items each morning with platinum or higher Marriot status for free. Valet is the only perking option FYI! No real direct beach access also. Be sure to check out Rusty Pelican next door, and Whiskey Joes around the corner!! Downside is bars/restaurant including the rooftop one which is epic, close at 10pm !! That's no bueno. Rooms are nice, staff is friendly, but they do NOT take allergies seriously and sadly I'm seeing this as a theme with Marriott properties. They sent my coworker to the hospital for her pistachio allergy. For breakfast, they put out bacon and labeled it as GF when it was sitting on 3 large pieces of bread. That is NOT GF! Those who truly need to avoid gluten and are not treating it as a fad diet cannot have a crumb of anything co-mingled with their food or it WILL cause intestinal damage. Their default dessert is just fruit. How much fruit can one person eat? How about something with fat and protein as a snack? One of our snack breaks they didn't even bother to put a GF label on anything. It's lazy, it's giving "we don't care about our guests" and it's disappointing that as a titanium member for over a decade, I don't even get a consideration of effort for my needs. Lastly, the breakfast sausage was absolutely inedible and the second barista I ordered from at the bar was rude and didn't give me caramel drizzle like the first one did. On the last day I discovered the pile of dust behind the tv and another person's neglected sock in the closet. read more

This hotel is AMAZING! It is pricey, but so worth it! You walk in to a welcoming staff, happy hour at the gorgeous bar, and a baby grand piano. I tried the sirloin sliders (yum!), the crab dip, and the pretzel. All were fantastic! The rooms were nice and comfy with industrial black out curtains. The gym was super clean. My only complaint is a bit funny.... We noticed an unclean spot (body print) on the window. It was kind of gross, but understandable why a maid could miss it. First and foremost our view was breathtaking!!! Thank you for accommodating us and giving us a wonderful view. I booked a standard room, with bay view and king bed of course for my husbands birthday. I mean would you ask for a better view to wake up to and fall asleep at. We had a great time here! The service was phenomenal although we paid for valet parking even if we parked our own vehicle it's ok. Only $25 bucks wish it was included or waived. Really disappointing visit here. Lifetime Platinum Elite and current Titanium level so I've stayed in my fair share of hotels over the years. This trip was a 3 night getaway with the family. Upon check-in we were given a sheet explaining their severely reduced F&B offerings "due to COVID". I found this comical because just to the side of the desk was a big poster promoting their NYE bash on the rooftop coming up at the end of the month. So COVID only impacts day to day travelers? Calls to the front desk often went unanswered for extended periods of time because of their limited staffing. At one point in the stay I sent them some feedback thru the chat feature of the app and was told, "we told you about this when you checked in." Hardly the type of response I expected. Fair warning - There is NO food available between 11am and 5pm except on Saturday. Your only walkable food option is the Rusty Pelican next door. Be prepared to order thru Postmates, Door Dash, Uber Eats, etc. they do not offer room service either. Definitely won't be returning here and will be happy to share this experience with fellow travelers. Hopefully the management reads this and understands that there is work to be done here. read more

Well this is what an "upgraded" room gets you at the Current. BEWARE!!! It's overlooking the HVAC. Literally you can't see over them. And we called to change to a "lesser" room and they are fully booked. Paying over $1200 for a few days. My daughter and I are traveling alone (she's under 12), so I asked that we be on the same floor as our friends, nope, can't do that either. No flexibility. Too much to pay for a bad view. Wish I would have stayed at the Godfrey, our friends are staying there and said they are super accommodating. Bummer, twice the price. Oh and I went online and there are rooms available to book. So they are just refusing to move us. Frustrating to say the least. read more

Don't plan to sleep if they have an event scheduled. Overall, a nice hotel but don't plan to use it to sleep on a weekend, especially if they have an event. We were 'upgraded' to the 9th floor. The welcome was lovely and the staff nice upon arrival. However, on Saturday it all took a turn for the worse. They had an event with a DJ on the roof-top-bar. It reverberated through the ceiling into our room... as in, the entire room experiencing the base. When I called at 10:30 asking about the noise, I was met with a rude manager who had 0 sympathy, for being an 8 month pregnant woman with her crabby toddler, both of whom wanted to go to sleep much earlier. When I asked why we weren't alerted--as we would have declined the high floor 'upgrade' the manager was snarky, telling us he 'didn't know' and 'doesn't go up there' and the decision would be the bar manager's decision. It left an awful taste for us and we'd not likely stay here again due to their blatant disregard for guests comfort. Other minor inconveniences-- no parking, except valet. The room had a musty smell and upon inspection seemed the filter had not been cleaned in a long time. the esthetics were nice. Location great. Food delicious. Be prepared that the parking garage elevator may not work as well as the outdoor pool heater not working which was the case during my stay. I also found the hotel restaurant to be very expensive for extremely small portions. Best to find a place off grounds. Shocking to have to pay for parking with a broken elevator. I received an email asking about my stay and was told they would apply 15,000 points to my account. No more than 8,000 points was deposited after waiting several days. I definitely wouldn't stay again. They act like they are a higher end hotel by offering free champagne on arrival when they should be more concerned about basic hotel operations. read more

So here's the deal. This is more like a party hotel. It's a place where you come get a few drinks, then go to a room and do your thing. Definitely NOT a family friendly hotel. Walls are thin so you can hear the "whoopi" around you. My son kept asking about the screaming (really moaning). It was crazy. We saw families with kids but trust me, this isn't the hotel for kids. Maybe 16 and older....MAYBE. Suites are not real suites. We initially had what we thought was a suite, but it was just a regular room. In fact the room we ended up with was bigger than a suite. They're really misleading people about their suites which I sum up as a design flaw. Nonetheless, it should be reflected in the price. Our room also didn't have a microwave. It did have a refrigerator though. The ambiance of the hotel is very nice and the staff is super pleasant. Housekeeping could do a much better job with cleaning. Lots of hairs and stains on wash cloths and bedding. Housekeeping manager should have someone dedicated to inspecting all of the laundry. Shower wasn't thoroughly cleaned and it was some weird stuff on the walls. They need to clean the walls and the glass door on the shower. You should not see any smears. They're spot cleaning in this hotel and considering that it's close to a booty spot, everything needs to be completely sanitized! I didn't like the valet only system. The valet was nice to let me park my own car but the elevator wasn't working so we ended up walking to the hotel which was horrible!! Lots of steps and ramps. Definitely not ideal when you're super tired. Had to switch rooms because of the suite issue as well as non working lights. The door hinge was also off. The positive is that the view of Tampa Bay is gorgeous. The pool is nice. They also have a beautiful rooftop with a bar and a baby grand piano. Hotel has a lot of potential, but they need to fix a lot things both physically and logistically to rise to a 5 star. read more

Conference center review Expensive but our 2 day conference was seen less from the attendees view. The location is absolutely beautiful- overlooking the bay while learning, discussing, and brainstorming life. The pool is amazing, infinity edge pool, rooftop bar, cafe, even a small posh store with items from the Oxford Exchange. Food, lunch was supplied- wow! Bread- olive focaccia , rolls, roasted Brussels sprout and feta, pasta options, flank steak, snapper. I would say this was 100% the best conference food I have ever had! Then dessert ... day 1 pound cake with strawberries, 2 flavors or whip cream, Carmel OR chocolate sauce; day 2 lemon cake with a light lemon curd and whipped cream, tiramisu and cannoli. Well fed while our brains were working. My coworkers and I were able to check out a room too, very stylish. read more
