Rather than standard hotel rooms, the Villa de Leon offers small apartments at rates that are better than many hotels in the area. Davis Island is beautiful and the Tampa Convention Center is a fifteen minute walk away. I would definitely stay here again.

    Pleasant functional kitchen.

This "hotel" was really dirty and all the furniture is outdated. You might as well stay in a shelter. Beware!

Checkin for members and non-members of World Of Hyatt is smooth and the service is quick, professional, and done with politeness that is genuine. My double room had all the required elements and restocked coffee every morning. The iron and hairdryer worked perfectly as well. This stay was a bit different because while I was here the hotel had a fire on my floor. The facility did an excellent job moving a large amount of people (3 floors of us) down stairs to the lower level in the early morning hours. While the fire department was on site the hotel kept us all informed and safe. It worked exactly the way it should for the hotel and the guests. I was very impressed. We returned to our rooms once the floors were completely checked and I did not once feel my safety was at risk before or after the event. Checkout was smooth as well.

The guy at the front desk was accommodating and said he only had bay view rooms available for early check in. Although this was an additional fee of $30/night, we decided to pay for it because we were tired from traveling. We got a room on the 7th floor, with bay and pool views. The room was spacious, clean, and provided everything we needed for the stay. They also have an onsite restaurant and a store on the 1st floor. We walked by the pool area, but did not get in because it was a bit chilly. We also walked to the other end of the hotel where the casitas are, it looked like a pretty cool area to revisit in the future. We booked the hotel through Hotels.com. The total provided at booking was around $650...after checking out our total then went to almost $1000. I understand the upgrade for the bay view of $30/night, however there are hidden fees that were not previously disclosed. In addition, someone charged a breakfast buffet to our room. I did make a complaint and was refunded, however they need to reconsider their methods for guests charging restaurant food to rooms. Overall the stay was good. I just think they should do a better job with disclosing hidden fees and restaurants procedures.

We found the room at the Marriott to be spacious, and the bathrooms similar to the JW. We found that compared to JW, the Marriott lobby was bigger, with more lounging and work station areas but also more people and noisy/lively. It has an outdoor restaurant overlooking the river, as well as a high end Mexican restaurant LONA (which I highly recommend) which provided great food and an escape from the crowds when you sit at their bar/lounge area. The outdoor restaurant/bar also had live entertainment during happy hour. What I particularly like about these 2 properties is that you can enjoy the amenities of both location by just walking accross the street via the skybridge. We went to Driftlight Steakhouse at JW in the morning for breakfast and had the buffet. The food was wonderful, service even better. We found check in to be very easy, especially since there was a dedicated reservation desk for Marriott Platinum Elite and such. It was good to have since the day we were there there was a conference/event happening that weekend. The only disappointment is the Perk Coffee and Provisions shop near the reception area, which was WAY overpriced and service slow and unfriendly. For most of their items on the shelves there was NO price. You had to ask what the price for each of the items, ranging from water to the alcohol. In summary, a very good stay at the Tampa Marriott Water street. Good alternative to JW based on the price. Also, in the future would book a balcony room with water views.

We were excited to discover that the hotel is just a short walk away from one of our favorite beaches, Upham beach, which made the trip even more special. The property had a fun South Beach feel with plenty of seating to socialize, a cute pool with bright flamingo floats, a hot tub, and a great outdoor pool bar. Natalia was a great bartender, she was friendly and gave the most awesome recommendations off the menu. She did not miss a beat! Randy was a fantastic host. He was in communication via text as soon as the room was ready and greeted us immediately as we arrived on the property which does not require you to check in as they send you your room number and code to get in. In the room they also leave all important information including your parking pass and two complimentary drink tickets for a convenient arrival no matter what time you get in. Unfortunately, the noise level significantly impacted our stay. We were in Room 28, and directly behind the room is a hallway used by staff from the upstairs bar. Throughout the first night, we heard a heavy door repeatedly slamming and staff using rolling carts to transport trash. The noise continued until about 3:00 a.m., making it very difficult to sleep. The next morning, I expressed my concerns to the front desk. He was polite, apologized, and said he would pass the information along. However, the noise resumed again the following night. Around 11:30 p.m., I stepped into the hallway and observed someone pulling trash on one of the carts; they did not appear interested in engaging when I tried to address it. Closer to midnight, after another loud door slam, I spoke with a different staff member who was very receptive and respectful. After that conversation, the noise level did decrease. I understand that hotel operations continue behind the scenes, but for a property positioned as an upscale boutique experience, I would expect better late-night noise control -- especially in rooms directly adjacent to service areas. The hotel has a lot of potential, and the cleanliness was excellent. However, due to the repeated overnight noise disruption, I would be hesitant to stay in that location of the property again.

I wouldn't recommend walking down to the hockey center which is about 20 minutes walking at least and goes under the Selmon Expressway overpass. Some of the areas in downtown can be sketch so you will need to Uber if you don't plan on driving and parking. Parking, speaking of which, will be expensive whether you are valeting at $45 a night or park in one of the garages nearby. Some I think are $15-20 a day but depends on the garage. The valet at least are fast with getting your car. Overall, the staff was friendly and courteous. Our check in went quickly to grab our keys and direct us to our room that was on the first floor. Housekeeping was friendly and prompt as well. The room was easily accessible from the lobby and close to the pool area. Our bed was comfortable with a fridge, plenty of drawer and shelf space in the closet. Our room had some modern artwork as well. The bathroom was spacious and the water pressure was solid. Although it took a minute to figure out how to adjust the water temperature without scalding yourself. They have a fitness center but it's up on the top floor and can be a challenge to find at first if you don't know where you're going. The signage helps a bit. It's in this spooky hallway where the court reporters were located and juries deliberated. You wonder if there were any unexplained or brutal murders that took place but I didn't feel any haunted presences nor are any brought up as an attraction. So probably not. But the gym's amenities are solid between the cardio machines and the weights available. Towels are available and a water cooler. They have a restaurant and bar that serves all three meals as well as ice cream and coffee. I only stopped there for an extra dirty, which was ok but could have been dirtier. I would stay here again. It's primely located in downtown Tampa and not far from most points of interest.

Halei front desk check in, her vibrant, beautiful, bright, charming, glowing loving personality needs to be on display. I would hate to see that she has moved on to another position the next time I visit but it will be well deserved. This young lady is the epitome of how you are supposed to treat people when they check into a hotel. Looking at all of the check-in people that Saturday, I was glad it was her. There was something about her energy that I was just loving. Listening to her. Take care of the person in front of us. Ayu Guest Services, although there was not a lot that she did to professionalism was definitely attentive and with a glowing smile. At this point I had already had my birthday cake surprise waiting for us when we got back to the room Saturday night, but just that one extra smile made me feel like an appreciated customer. I only regret I couldn't tip everyone that I mentioned $100 each, but believe me when I tell you that might definitely be the ongoing goal the next time I visit. This place is amazing. I thought I'd be fighting for the elevators with a sold out hotel, but we never really hit any snags. The room was clean and done in fun colors. We had a decent view out the window, and no problem getting a cart for our luggage. Our room also was quiet and dark at night, so we got a good night's sleep. Lots of stars go to the very helpful front desk staff who are accustomed to helping guests get to the Port of Tampa in a timely manner. Their continental breakfast was also top-notch for a 2-star hotel - they had regular AND red velvet flavored batter for their waffle makers! Incredible! I liked how this hotel offered a free shuttle service to the port. I would have bumped it up a star if it also offered a free shuttle to and from the Tampa airport.
