I walked in on a Sunday around 3:00pm with my daughter and there were no other customers in the store, 3 employees working. Not a single employee welcomed us or acknowledged us. After a few minutes, 4 other customers walked in and were immediately greeted and asked if they needed assistance. My daughter and I stood at the shoe display discussing shoe sizes and brands and 2 customers stood next to us. Two employees approached them to help them as we stood arms length with no one approaching us to ask if we needed help. I was told AS LONG AS I HAVE THE TAG on the item I can return. I never wore it, and I wasn't dancing so it was sitting in my room. I eventually decided I wasn't going to use it. The sales manager told me after a year I cannot return the item purchased! That is NOT what was told to me when I bought it, and I specifically asked the same girl who works at the cash register. I am furious, I will not be shopping here ever again. They both said "no one has ever done that, with attitude, and they sometimes give some kind of courtesy after 30 days." But that should have been communicated to me, however long I have to decide. It has the tags, it is brand new. Your word should hold up, and you shouldn't be able to take it back your word whenever you feel like it. I would have went back sooner (before 30 days) to take it back if I knew HOW LONG I had. To top it off, they had an attitude that was nasty... I wasn't being rude, it is just you told me one thing, and then it is a flat out lie. She told me the 30 day policy is at the bottom of the receipt, as if I am going to check that. I finally check it today, and the 30 day policy is no where to be found!!! I was so disappointed in how I was treated on Wednesday night at 6:20 pm 1/8/26. My daughter had a performance the next morning at 9am and I didn't realize she needed black jazz shoes not tan for her early performance. I saw online that the dance shoppe was open until 7pm! I was so happy! I rushed down there. Dance shoppe is our dance shop. I've gotten all of my daughter's dance shoes and clothes here. I love everything about it. However when I got there, the girl working told me they were closed. I told her it says open online though and also all the lights were on at 6:20 and the "open" sign said open on the door and also how I needed them for an early morning show and I was a little desperate. She said, "I'm sorry I have somewhere to be". Totally feeling like a failure, I practically begged her since it says open and I'm a returning customer and she said her register is closed and then I prob was annoying but said, "there's no way you can just do it this one time?" She turned around and literally stomped to the register. I'm pretty sure she threw her belongings on the floor to show her annoyance of me but I am Not sure, it happened so fast but she definitely wanted to show me she was angry and I was forcing her. I realized I didn't want to spend my $ here any longer. I feel as a returning customer and me asking nicely and being so stressed, it would have been such a wonderful gesture to help me. They were for my daughter it wasn't like some outfit for me. I was so sad and disappointed and mad and stressed and everything about that situation really was disappointing. I left a few voice mails because I got cut off the first time. I noticed the correct time was on the voice message, but The online time really needs to be changed because many people drive from far and many dance moms are rushing last minute for all supplies. After a stressful week that would have been so nice of her to help me but she didn't want to and acted childish. Maybe I should not have been asking more than once but I was really in a bind and her saying she has plans instead of helping me. It wasn't even a lot past the closing time she told me. I need new shoes for my daughter today and I'm really sad that I have such a bad feeling about the customer service and dance shoppe and don't want to buy her dance items there anymore. I had a terrible experience at this store. I went for my first point shoe fitting, and I was given a wrong fitting shoe 2 sizes wider and 1 size longer than my correct size. My ballet teacher was horrified as to how a fitter could make such a big mistake! Had my teacher not warned me, I would have worn that shoes and damaged my feet! I went back to the store within 7 days and instead of accepting their mistake and apologizing to me, they refused to return the shoe because ribbons were sewn on it(They charge $50 for sewing ribbons themselves, yet they would not accept these shoes). They claimed that the fitter "was having a bad day that day" and all they offered to me was some discount on a new pair of shoes. I rarely write any good or bad reviews and the only reason why I'm writing this is to warn other customers from getting their shoe fitting done in this store because they cannot be trusted and you can badly damage your feet. They want to sell some oversized shoes especially Nikolay brand that they are not able to sell and they will intentionally misfit you. Unless you know the correct size of your shoes do not go this store to buy your shoes. read more

I do not recommend The Dance Shoppe. We went in for a fitting and left with two pair of pointe shoes. My daughter had a little issue getting over the box and the young lady that fit her said that as the shoe molded to her foot and broke in, it would get easier. Sadly, after 4 hours of wear on one and less that that on the other pair, they both died. The entire platform softened and the shank barely held up for one class and broke very low. The only part of the shoe that is still alive is the demi point, so that is NOT the reason it is breaking low. When I called, The Dance Shoppe, Sarah referred me to their Nikolay representative, telling me that the company would issue the refund. I did as they recommended; however, Nikolay said it was the responsibility of The Dance Shoppe to make things right. I reached out again and spoke with Sarah and let her know about the response I received. She let me know that she would pass my information along to Gladys, the owner, and she would be giving me a call back. Unfortunately Gladys could not be bothered to call me, insead she sent an email telling me that she would not refund as there is nothing wrong with the shoe. If you are looking for pointe shoes, I strongly recommend going to The Pointe Shop in Santa Ana (949) 387-2003 or Dance Threadz in Huntingon Beach (714) 377-9902. Their service is far superior than what you will experience at The Dance Shoppe! read more

My dance studio recommended the The Dance shoppe and all I can say is zero customer service and absolutely rude. I went there once before during the weekday to pick up a leotard for my daughter and experience was just ok . Today, I came on a Saturday, the whole experience including their "customer service ," was horrendous. My daughter tried on two leotards. Both leotards came in plastic bags, and when the associate gave me them, one plastic bag already had been ripped open . After my daughter tried on the first leotard we decided that it would probably be the best fit and the other one was going to be too big. So we didn't bother opening the leotard in the other plastic bag. After we decided on the first leotard, we went up to the register to queue up to pay for the leotard, still having both leotards in hand. My daughter being an excited and inquisitive young child , kept wanting to look at some of the hair clips and accessories that they have in the front of their store . The young lady behind the counter, kept glaring at us because my daughter as if age was going to try to take one of $1 dollar clips . As we are standing in line to purchase a $30 leotard. Then the associate calls me away from the line that I'm waiting to pay in and says " can I help you with anything?" I look at her very curiously and confused as I was just waiting to pay for the last 4 minutes in the other line. She never helped me or asked me for help that whole time and just kept glaring at my daughter and I and now she takes me off of the line, to ask me a silly question she already knew the answer to. She then responds "Oh yeah, you have to go back over there in line ." What was the need for that? She was making a statement and that was very disrespectful and rude. Clearly she had seen me when I came in. The other associate gave me the two leotards for my daughter to try on, and she watched as we went to the fitting room, and was waiting in line to pay . She never bothered to ask us for help, as. we were waiting in line for four minutes then takes me off the line to ask if I need help in a rude manner. I was very confused by the interaction and her lack of customer service and just overall rudeness. When I did actually get rung up by the associate who was ringing up at the register" Iliana." She was not very friendly told me my total and then just rang up the leotard . Mind you the one we selected was the one with the ripped open plastic bag . She didn't offer me a bag to even put my purchase in and said I will email you the receipt . The other associate continued glaring at me acting like I was a criminal . I purchase something from your shop. You offer me no receipt , and will allegedly email it to me only .Who knows if that's going to happen or not . I then had to beg for a bag . Was I supposed to walk out of the store , where you have just been glaring at me the whole time , treating me like a criminal with no bag, no receipt , and a leotard in a ripped open clear plastic bag ?? NO THANK YOU ! The sad thing is the people that actually do steal are the ones that you are NOT watching and the ones that are actually hard working individuals that are giving you their hard earned money are the ones that you're watching vigilantly. Just to let you know criminals come in all shapes, colors , and sizes, and do not only come in one skin color. Needless to say, I will be taking my hard-earned money somewhere else. I will never be shop at the Dance Shoppe again. I will let my dance studio know who referred about my horrific experience and I will let all my other fellow dance moms also know not to shop at your studio ! I hope you train your associates better, they're racist and horrific customer service practices need to stop. read more

The place is large, spacious, nicely decorated and plenty of selection. Would have enjoyed shopping here but unfortunately, NO greeting when we came in. Yes, she was assisting a customer at the bar but her eyes didn't even look up to acknowledge that somebody had walked in the building. Actually the parent of the child she was helping made more eye contact and smiled. After watching her fit someone for about 5 to 7 minutes, again... Still no greeting she comes over ask what we want. I tell her, she goes to the back sets them by the counter and says we can try them on back here by the register. She then goes back to help the original child. At that point I no longer wanted to shop there., if my child didn't need these shoes rather quickly I literally would've purchased them off of Amazon (as they were literally more than half off online). Would not return. Owners might want to spend a little time with Illiana on customer service or just basic social graces would have sufficed. It's a shame, it looked like a nice place. I really really wanted to love this place. They carry practically everything for dance for both adults and children with some really cute leotards for little girls. My daughter is currently in baby ballet and was excited seeing all this dance wear. I also had my first pointe shoe fitting here as well, and my mother had her first fitting in 40 years. It started off as an extreme misunderstanding with the pointe shoe fitter and both of us. The fitter, expected, asked us if we have ever had a pointe shoe fitting before. This is where the misunderstanding started. My mom (whose first language is NOT English) mistakenly said she wanted pointe shoes for fun after 40 years. I understand from a pointe shoe fitter's mind, red flag. She calls her manager to ask if she can fit my mom, and I tried to explain that the for fun was not what she meant. And then made it worse, my mom forgot all her previous teachers she was dancing with since 2005 and told the pointe shoe fitter she's only been taking classes for a few months. I can tell the fitter's face looked horrified and I felt really bad it was becoming such a horrible mess. Had to try to keep explaining to both her and her manager that we've been consistently taking classes since 2005. She still fitted us in the end but it was an awkward experience on my end. After my mom's fitting, she left us in the front and we had no idea what was going on until we went towards the back and informed I had an appointment for fitting as well. I felt so awkward by then that I just wanted this fitting to be done and over with and leave. Can I fault the fitter for being skeptical? No. Based on how we answered their questions, it may have come off as we're not taking pointe seriously. I do wonder though if the fitting experience would have been better if we didn't start with the misunderstanding. My mom and I walked out commenting that we didn't feel very welcomed there after the whole misunderstanding. Again, a lot of it was on us which is why I find it unfair if I knock off too many stars.
