It is a safe space to express yourself and dance your heart out! All of the instructors I've had so far had amazing energy and shared some great moves that were also easy to follow. I suggest letting the check in person know it's your first class so they can guide you (like borrowing knee pads or grabbing a chair for certain classes). Other than my slight difficulty in finding it and somewhat limited parking (there's a small lot and street parking), I love this place and would highly recommend trying it!

The music was interesting and went well with the pieces and lighting; it was not the typical modern dance crazy tribal or gothic "churchy" music, both of which I can't stand. Unfortunately the last piece was "countryish" music, which did not fit with the rest of the show and seemed very out of place; good choreography wasted on a bad piece of music! Overall, I was very impressed with the entire presentation will definitely be back to see future Malashock shows...maybe even take modern classes after a 9 year haitus...

I was a part of DanzArts' adult company Sabor Mexico for three years, and while I came in hopeful…read moreand excited to dance, what I experienced was a toxic environment fueled by manipulation, favoritism, and complete lack of professionalism from the director, Patricia Astorga. Patricia is the opposite of what a leader should be. The moment she senses loyalty from you, she will use you to your breaking point assigning every task possible just to avoid lifting a finger herself. Dancers are expected to travel long distances for performances (many of them physically demanding) and not only don't get paid we're also expected to pay out of pocket for gas and other expenses. Zero compensation, zero appreciation. The company's board? Just her inner circle of close friends who are completely biased and will twist your words to defend Patricia, no matter how valid your concerns are. When you finally see her true colors, you realize this is not a healthy dance community it's a dictatorship masked as a cultural organization. Patricia has spoken badly about her own dancers behind their backs including her co-director and has actively stirred drama to turn people against each other. She even body shamed me when a 13year old dress ripped as I put it on ( I'm not overweight). Instead of offering help or support, she made it a moment of shame. Financially, the lack of transparency is disturbing. She collects donations and won't even tell her board where the money goes. Meanwhile, we've seen her use the company credit card for personal expenses like hair appointments. During a trip to Campeche in 2023, each dancer was required to pay over $300 "for food" to this day, no one knows where that money went. This review only covers the adult side of DanzArts. When it comes to the children's academy, Patricia is rarely present at all. It was Kristina Cunningham, a now former leader who left due to similar issues, who raised funds and ran the program. Patricia allegedly took the kids' fundraising money too, and again no explanation was ever given. If you're looking for a loyal, respectful, and inspiring dance community, THIS IS NOT IT. I wish someone had warned me sooner so I'm warning you now.

There's a door at the back of the studio and several people left a few minutes early, which I found very disruptive. It's not like the class went over in time. I thought it was honestly rude of those people to get up and walk through the class early and make all that ruckus with the door while other people are trying to settle into the final resting pose. They know how long it's supposed to be. The second time I visited, I've booked a class that online said it was going to be outside on the deck. When I got there, the class was inside. At least this time the studio was very clean! I was bummed though to not be practicing on the deck in the fresh air.

Something to note is that there is only one park, so big dogs are combined with small ones. Theres a small obstacle course for dogs to jump and run through. And for the humans, there's also a few benches on the side to sit at.

There are four big pine trees with separate retaining walls around three of them for owners to sit down. With it being so close to the bay, there's often a nice breeze that goes through the park. There's no divide between small dogs and big dogs, so it's best to just keep an eye on your dog, and many owners around here are usually respectful. The street parking immediately adjacent to the park is free, however, it has a limit of 30 minutes, and the parking meter workers are strict on it if they're around. I bring my dog here around lunch time because those who live/ work in the area tend to bring their dogs during their break time and my dog gets his socialization time. They close 8am-11am MWF for maintenance/ cleaning. Currently, both gates are broken so it's not as secure as it should be, and who knows when the city will actually fix it. There're a few agility structures and a water dispenser. The children's park itself looks pretty cool for kids with a lot of structures with slides and swings. There's also another separate area with fixed exercise equipment that looks well- maintained. The water feature in the park is a water feature, not a pool.

The Dancehouse is a great studio with lots of positive energy. The classes are really not that expensive compared to other studios and the instructors are passionate with what they do. Everyone is encouraged to take classes here even if you have never danced before. There are lots of different styles and different people you meet that gather to dance. I don't know how to ballroom dance, but several of the dance instructors approached me and led me to the dance floor. I think I did a pretty job for a newbie. At the stroke of midnight, we all toasted champagne and danced the night away! I think we ended up leaving around 1am. This was a fun celebration and a great way to ring in the New Year! I attended a Jazz Funk class at Play Studio and it was so fun! I appreciated that the class was a challenge. This studio is suited for people with dance experience. While there are likely people here training to dance professionally, there are also people who are just here for fun. But, I like that the classes are at a level that create a challenge and keep your brain moving as you move through the choreo. I hate a boring class and this wasn't the least bit boring at all. The class moved quickly! The vibe was good and it feels like there's a nice community here. I love the variety of options they have and I'm excited to try a pom class next. The studio is located on the second floor of the building. Parking in the area is tough. Although the studio has a parking lot, there are very few spots. There are paid spots across the street, but it's tough to find a free spot, so leave yourself some time.

I came for the workout but ended up finding SO much more than that- a welcoming community, supportive teachers, lifelong friends, and my passion for dance has been re-ignited. Larisa plans so many fun events to showcase our hard work. There is something for everyone! "Vaudeville Fever" cabaret shows, three recitals each year, holiday parades, performances on stage at Disneyland, Fringe Festival/ Taptastic shows, community events, and so much more. There is never any pressure to participate in the recitals. However, if we end up in a class together I might try to pressure you into it because a lot of people end up discovering how much fun it is to perform on stage! All of the teachers have their unique styles and their classes are all so much fun. I always leave feeling inspired and energized! The unlimited package is a great option if you want to try a variety of tap and other styles of dance classes. I take ballet, tap (technique, broadway, and cardio tap), and sometimes drop in for jazz. $600 for a 16-week session and I took about 150 classes- what a deal! They also allow people to pay for one class at a time, or packages of 4+ classes to use throughout the session. Also you can rent tap shoes for just $3! I did that for my first class and then immediately went home and ordered a pair of my own since I could feel in my bones that this was going to become a big part of my life again (after taking 20 years off from dance). I could go on about how much I love Tap Fever. Being part of this community has truly changed my life and I am so thankful to Larisa, Diane, Chantal, Chelsea, Andrea, and Britt for keeping the classes fun, challenging, and inspiring! You can tell you all pour your hearts and souls into teaching dance! I highly recommend Tap Fever to anyone of any age and any abilities! Teachers are all more than willing to work with you and offer modifications that you might find helpful. No worries if you have never put tap shoes before. My dad came to a cardio tap class and it was his first time wearing tap shoes. He did a great job and was smiling the whole time! The class is fast paced and fun, Erika does an amazing job connecting with all the kids. My daughter took classes at the YMCA and she didn't want to dance, but here she loves it. Erika makes dance feel like play, and they end up learning moves and all following along. The best part about the classes is parents can sit in and watch and it's both hilarious and adorable at the same time. They get opportunities every year to be in a full scale dance show production. Last year, my daughter was "Baby Moana" from the Disney movie "Moana" and it really shot her dancing up to the next level and gave her a tremendous amount of confidence in herself to be able to perform on stage. I've included one picture where she got to be on the cover for the Moana show flyer and another photo to show how she's developed herself as powerful, dance competitor in a very short period of time.

Really fun place to take dance classes…read more Bought a package of a bunch of classes at this studio and tried several of the classes and it was a lot of fun. I especially like the chair tease class and the burlesque choreography classes! The instructors are all very good dancers and because they also perform, they also instruct on connecting with your audience and the angle of your movements so all the moves will look good. Parking is really a nightmare in the lot, very few spots and the spots are very narrow, I got a couple of dings in this lot.
