Please keep in mind that this review will be about these classes. I think it's incredibly generous to offer this trial as it allows you to check out several types of dance styles and instructors. They have an app, which I found to be really easy to use. They clearly label which classes are part of the trial and provide confirmation and reminders. The schedule accommodated work schedules and if weekdays were too tight, they had classes on weekends as well. They have 3 studio rooms and they had a person checking people in which could let you know where the class you were taking would be. One studio was large and the other two were about half the size. Each has its own bathroom which was nice. I tried a few Bollywood classes, Latin dance, a barre class and a Tahitian class. While the Bollywood cardio and Latin classes were the most popular, the instructors were all very patient and energetic. The Bollywood cardio class wasn't geared to really teach moves but more for you to follow along as best as you can and hope you get it before the next move. My personal goal is to stay on beat and try to get 60-80% of any class I take which I was easily able to for the classes. There is plenty of parking and the rooms are clean. When I have some discretionary income I'll definitely come back to buy a package so I can keep shaking my groove thang.

Fast forward to today, and I've not only developed real dance skills, but also a level of confidence I never thought I'd have, and built some amazing friendships along the way. What truly sets Studio K apart is the instructors. Every single one of them is insanely talented, highly trained, and genuinely passionate about what they do. Something to note is that there is only one park, so big dogs are combined with small ones. Theres a small obstacle course for dogs to jump and run through. And for the humans, there's also a few benches on the side to sit at.

There are four big pine trees with separate retaining walls around three of them for owners to sit down. With it being so close to the bay, there's often a nice breeze that goes through the park. There's no divide between small dogs and big dogs, so it's best to just keep an eye on your dog, and many owners around here are usually respectful. The street parking immediately adjacent to the park is free, however, it has a limit of 30 minutes, and the parking meter workers are strict on it if they're around. I bring my dog here around lunch time because those who live/ work in the area tend to bring their dogs during their break time and my dog gets his socialization time. They close 8am-11am MWF for maintenance/ cleaning. Currently, both gates are broken so it's not as secure as it should be, and who knows when the city will actually fix it. There're a few agility structures and a water dispenser. The children's park itself looks pretty cool for kids with a lot of structures with slides and swings. There's also another separate area with fixed exercise equipment that looks well- maintained. The water feature in the park is a water feature, not a pool.

I'm a very rusty intermediate who has primarily learned to dance socially. I've dropped into Majesty's studio and social outings over the years to try different classes and have always enjoyed their inviting and challenging teaching styles. I'm now training more regularly and am thoroughly enjoying their full spectrum of classes offered. Jennifer, David, Mary and Adolfo are incredible instructors, patient, joyful and empowering with their students. It's evident the staff and team love their craft and their teacher assistant structure creates a learning environment for everyone. The different tiers of involvement, teacher assistant program, performance teams, and social events, all offer different ways for dance lovers to explore their passion more, grow in community, and sharpen their skill set. I almost didn't join this studio because I let my own doubts get in the way--and I'm so glad I pushed past that. They had an incredible first-month unlimited deal, but I skipped it because I wasn't sure I'd enjoy it or stick with it. This is the only bad review I've written on Yelp. Unfortunately, there's a predator who works there. Miguel is a volunteer staff and has been harassing women there for a long time. There is a public online form about him where many women are sharing their experiences. Some have come forward and still, the owners do nothing. This is why I chose not to contact the owners directly. He meets women at the studio or their dance socials, manipulates, abuses, and harasses them. One girl showed pictures of her bruises. They didn't care. I suspect that since he is free labor to this studio, they care more about that, than the safety of women. The last couple reviews about him on Yelp were removed and the owner DENIED he even worked there! Very telling of the kind of people that run this place. Be careful when you join this studio. PRIVATE LESSONS are so worth it & essential!!! I've misinterpreted basic moves for years. 1:1 Salsa lessons don't only clean up the mess but your entire understanding changes. For years I saw things backwards. And I'm starting to see the "why" of all things. No longer do foundational classes bore me but I thrive on it. Reviewing & chewing on basic techniques regularly & is like studying holy scriptures; folks will know you by your steps & how you relate to others... So when David, Jennifer, Patrick, Rob, Anthony recommend privates with them, they're so right. And we're more than lucky to have them here in San Diego. I've met instructors in Los Angeles and from around the world who hold up a candle to them. Not only are they masters of the dance, they are forever students. read more

I've been going to Majesty on and off for 7 years and was in 3 dance teams (2 non performing, 1 performing). I definitely learned a lot and highly recommend them. Going to the dance socials, Majesty stood out to me when looking at the performances. They try their best to polish their dancers and not just learn flashy moves, although the moves are pretty fun. I really enjoyed the Royal Elegance team as Jen was incredible at teaching technique. I highly encourage people to join the dance teams because you're in a group with the same people, making it easier to learn progressively. People are really nice too. Deciding to learn how to salsa was one of the best decisions I've made! I found Majesty In Motion on Groupon and am now hooked on salsa and bachata and have made a lot of friends in the Latin dance community. David is one of the best salsa dancers around. I'm an analytical and logical person, so I like that David doesn't just teach technical aspects of footwork and moves, but tries to get you to dance to and feel the music. I feel like I am using the right side of my brain more. I haven't taken any private lessons yet, but plan to do so in the future. Also, Majesty in Motion hosts awesome socials on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. I would recommend MIM to anybody in San Diego wanting to dance salsa/bachata! read more

I have been taking lessons with Majesty in Motion since January 2016, earlier than that if you count that I was going out to their evening events and taking their beginner classes (which is how I discovered them!). The instructors here are great and most people in the dance community know who Majesty in Motion is and how they produce dancers that have good technique. I have had so much fun dancing with this company that I joined the beginner bachata dance team there. My dancing has improved so much which has opened up a way to have a lot more fun and connect with many different types of people. Even though I moved to LA and haven't been dancing, I have to give a big Thank You to David and Jennifer Stein. I danced on many teams, but this team gave me so many challenges with musicality and learning so much about being on my feet. David taught me so much about freestyle and shines, and body movement. If you want to learn to dance Salsa properly Majesty is the place. They focus on fundamentals at the begining of every class with footwork & timing. This foundation is great in developing good lead & follow technique as well as enjoyment and expression of the music. If you want to go deeper they have training teams too. I came to this studio excited to learn and have fun, but was made to feel extremely uncomfortable by one of the instructors assistant, Miguel. His behavior was consistently inappropriate, flirting, taunting, and disrespecting me and others in ways that crossed clear professional boundaries. What should've been a safe, welcoming environment felt toxic and unsettling. I'm not the only one who's walked away because of this. It's disappointing and unacceptable, and I truly hope the studio takes this seriously. read more

Majesty in Motion Salsa kids program has been an amazing program for my son. He enjoys taking classes with such skilled instructors. David and Jennifer take their time to really make class enjoyable for these kids. My son has learned so much and looks forward to class every week. If you want your child to learn from professionals this is the place!!! They'll have fun and make new friends while learning to social dance and even have chances to perform throughout the program. I have been dancing with David and Jennifer Stein for almost 4 years. WooW!!! I can't leave them. I like the passion they both have for latin rhythm and the love they put in their teaching. YOu can be yourself with them and can become a confident Salsa dancer Leader or follower. When I started I didn't know who they were or how good they were. TA MIGUEL must be banned!! Multiple women have come forward on this abusive teacher's assistant who like to gaslight, manipulate, physically abuse, and sleep with all the women he can within this studio! Please take this seriously and steer clear, he is very good at what he does. Its VERY disappointing the studio claimed to take it seriously but clearly not if he is still there. I know for a fact I am not the only one. Please handle this accordingly! read more

This is where I started my dance journey and it was by far the best decision I have made. David Stein is a world class instructor/director. We are spoiled in San Diego to have such a great instructor who makes it fun for everyone who takes his classes or joins his team. I started taking salsa lessons with them a little over a year ago and I can honestly say that they're an inspiration. Going to dance class with majesty in motion is the best part of my day. No matter how stressful my day has been at work, I leave the studio with a smile. I've also joined the salsa and bachata teams. The partnering work of the 2nd and 3rd pieces blew me away...mental note to self: work on upper body strength! The rest of the choreography was smooth, wellconnected, athletic, and beautiful; wheras most modern dances I've seen typically looks as if the dancers just got jacked up on Redbull, E and acid, then tossed on stage to do whatever they feel like. The music was interesting and went well with the pieces and lighting; it was not the typical modern dance crazy tribal or gothic "churchy" music, both of which I can't stand. Unfortunately the last piece was "countryish" music, which did not fit with the rest of the show and seemed very out of place; good choreography wasted on a bad piece of music! Overall, I was very impressed with the entire presentation will definitely be back to see future Malashock shows...maybe even take modern classes after a 9 year haitus...

What was actually included was dancing, live performances, live singers, buffet, champagne, and a second round of Filipino snacks at midnight. Raffle tickets were sold separately, so it was a bit misleading. This was an older crowd than what we're usually accustomed to, but we made the most out of the evening and ended up having a really great time. I don't know how to ballroom dance, but several of the dance instructors approached me and led me to the dance floor. I think I did a pretty job for a newbie. At the stroke of midnight, we all toasted champagne and danced the night away! I think we ended up leaving around 1am. This was a fun celebration and a great way to ring in the New Year! I may have to come back and sign up for some ballroom lessons!

The studio is in a shopping plaza with a very popular restaurant, so while there's a decently large parking lot, I took the very last spot in that lot. Walking through the doors immediately takes you to a dimly lit studio, with disco ball-like tiling on the far wall. I was pretty intimidated for about 20 seconds before I was immediately welcomed and brought into the fold. Contrary to many other fitness classes I've attended, the women in this class, both instructors and fellow attendees, took the initiative to talk to me and to the other new person. That alone gave this class a much greater sense of camaraderie and helped me feel less uncomfortable being so far out of my comfort zone. Our class was Bad Bunny themed, which was super fun given his recent halftime show. It was a tad fast paced so I was always a bit behind, but I found out halfway through the class that there are set choreos that the folks who have been there longer have learned, so I felt less bad about being unable to keep up. Despite looking like a puppet in the process of getting its strings cut, I had a good time and got a good workout in. It was very fun and I felt like the time flew by. I definitely want to take more dance fitness classes in the future!
