I'm reposting because they got it taken down. Maybe my photos will help. They illegally trespassed onto our property and chopped down a redwood tree.Our property is fully fenced with a gate. We were not notified by them nor pge. We came home to a beautiful young (15yr) redwood chopped down. they also broke our fence but instead of telling us they laid it back together so it wasn't immediately noticeable. When we noticed it we contacted the/ them. Then they sent us through their insurance, Broadspire who denied the claim. This would probably cost $100 to fix nd make it right. Davey Tree should train their employees when they trespass on someone's property and they break a fence they should accept responsibility for their actions. The fact that they sent it to insurance just tells you what they ultimately care about, money. read more

Kudos to the Davey Tree Team! We needed a tree that had engulfed the power line leading from our home to the main PG&E line cut down to code. I first had a great experience when I called to schedule an appointment with the customer service rep. Second, TJ came out to evaluate the job and create a proposal. Davey Tree blocked our driveway without notice and would not move their truck. My wife and kids waited over an hour in her car behind their truck and they would not move it 10 feet so she could get home. She had to cancel her afternoon plans. Even when they were done for the day they waited until they were all packed up before moving and letting her in. We called the office and only got their answering machine. read more

A limb fell from my Liquid Amber tree near the corner of my house. I contacted T.J. at Davey Tree, and he promptly scheduled a visit to assess the situation. He arrived the next morning and, fortunately, my house was not damaged. He arranged for a team to remove the limb and later scheduled a full cleanup of the tree along with my Magnolia. The first crew did an okay job, but there were a few broken lights that T.J. took care of right away. The second crew, who handled the shaping of both trees, were absolutely stellar--polite, punctual, communicative, and even thanked me when they finished the job. The pricing was incredibly fair. I've trusted Davey Tree Service for over 20 years and wouldn't have anyone else care for my trees. I'm truly grateful to T.J. and his team for keeping my trees happy and healthy. read more

Early in the morning on the 9th of January, 2023, at 2:12 am, we were awakened to the sound of a redwood falling into our living room. After contacting Davey we were fortunate enough to have one of Davey's specialists, Jeremy, come to our house to help us remove a widow maker that had punctured through the ceiling into the house. Jeremy was one of the best servicemen we have had the opportunity of working with. He was able to patch-up our roof and take care of the job within less than two hours. Honestly couldn't ask for more from a professional.. The best part was that Jeremey was kind enough to only ask for a five star review, no charge! Truly a blessing during a season to remember. Working with Davey Tree Company has been a dream! We had a 30' pear tree that we tried to save over a few years, but eventually the blight won, probably because we didn't know to hire Davey right away! TJ came and removed the tree quickly, chipped everything, and even left the yard cleaner than when he arrived! Octavio was just as wonderful when he arrived to grind the stump, making sure we could plant our new avocado tree in the same spot. Octavio even took away a few extra wood rounds we had in the yard that we no longer needed, which was so kind of him. He also blew off our patio and made sure everything was pristine when he left - above and beyond! They both also looked over our remaining apple tree, which is struggling, to give advice on how to save it. We will be hiring TJ to prune and help us get it back to a healthy happy tree. Between the storms and blight, we lost 4 very old trees in the past year and a half. It was very sad to have them removed, but TJ and Octavio really made the experience easy. They are kind and thoughtful and you can tell they truly love what they do and are passionate about saving any trees that can be saved! The crew was on time and very professional. They gave my 35+ year old Japanese maple a much needed trim and she looks great!

October 6 2023 I contacted Davey Tree via their web form. I had three limbs, each less than a foot in diameter to trim, to cut down because they were leaning on a fence and on the house. I am 72, and I had no ability or tools to do it myself, nor any way to dispose of them. Wanted to get the work done before any storms when they would be busy. Jeremy came out. He quoted $150 for the job. He emailed the contract to me on Oct 6th, contract stated $300 for the job! Twice quoted price! Advised it was incorrect, and he said he would resend the corrected contract. I received corrected contract October 7th. Work was scheduled for October 10th. No one showed up, no call, no email. No one contacted me between Oct 10 and Oct 26. I was trying to be cool, but finally I emailed asking status, and if they still intended to do the job. Jeremy emailed and said they would be coming out November 1st at noon. Once again no one called or showed up. Re-contacted him on November 19th and asked if they had decided not to do the job and he has never responded. Wow. So I contacted another company on December 18th, they came out December 20th, job took a half hour to cut and dispose of limbs. Same price. I don't know why my time was wasted by Davey Tree, but I was lucky to find someone to do this small job in the middle of the stormy season that I had tried to avoid by starting the process two months earlier. But it does seem like once I rejected the quote doubling the quoted price, they didn't care one way or the other if they ever came back. So if you have a small job, good luck. read more

A big tree came down, which pulled down power lines. The Fire Department and PGandE tried to carve a space in the foliage for us to drive through, but it was Davey Tree who cut up the limbs and made everything safe for us. Thank you, Davey Tree! read more

PG&E replaced a powerline pole through another company that left tree limbs covering the entire sidewalk in front of our house, which is the only sidewalk on that section of street and comes to a blind corner. The Jonathan and Manuel crew from the 17 yard of Davey Tree came out at the behest of PG&E and did a huge amount of work in a short amount of time, apologized on behalf of the previous company, and removed logs that had been thrown into a large rosebush in our yard, which is impressive because that rose bush has scimitar thorns and stands about 30 feet high. They wore protective gear for that. We are deeply impressed by and grateful to Jonathan and Manuel from the 17 yard of Davey Tree. read more

Just another BUTCHER job on our trees. You asked my husband to keep the fence open and you couldn't even close the damn fence. You cut branches that weren't even near the wires. Do you even know how to trim trees correctly? Your work is always a huge disappointment. read more

Davey has been to my house--for PG&E--at least 10 times in the last 29 week days. Some times for a couple of hours, sometimes for 10 minutes. Sometimes they do a little work, sometimes they just run out the clock, hanging around next to my house until 4:30. Sometimes they have lunch and leave wrappers and toss empty cans and bottles. Sometimes they top and trim oaks, bays and redwoods and leave sprawling branches for me to deal with. Or they chip the branches and spray the chips wherever they like and I have to rake it out of the ditches. A neighbor says a crew ate all the berries inside a fence next to her house. For 35 years, Davey would send a vegetation management person out beforehand and we agreed on the work that would be done and I got it in writing and signed my agreement. Now there's no paperwork. This month, when I asked a foreman why there wasn't documentation anymore, he said there never was any documentation of what they would cut or trim and that they have always just come and gone as they liked and cut whatever. He seemed to be calling me a liar. Yet they are the ones that now lie to my face. They volunteer, "We are only going to cut dead branches" and then they cut live branches right by my house. The boldness of the lies is off scale. In the past 30 years, they have run over outdoor furniture and hidden it. One guy backed a truck into a shrub I liked and when I said to stop, he sullenly snapped, "It was in my way." They have limbed a beautiful tree nowhere near a power line and dared me to complain about it. They have cut down an entire redwood tree and refused to limb or chip it, claiming they didn't cut it down. (Like who else would come onto my property and cut down a tree near a power line?) And that was in the good old days. Now it's far worse. read more

A tree came down in a storm, called Davey tree to come for estimate on the following Monday. Had an opertunity to take call of it on Saturday and did so. Forgot to call and cancel on Monday because it was a holiday. Davey tree still came out on time that Monday and Jeremy could not have been more understanding, nicer or more professional. read more

Expert and professional service... I had a 30' Queen Palm in my front yard that was far past due for pruning-trimming. Manager Travis Evans had previously seen my 'project' when meeting with a neighbor across the street. He provided me contact information and I followed up a few weeks later for an estimate. I received what I feel is a fair and just price for my job and his team scheduled specifically around a trip we took out of town. Service team showed up 10-minutes prior to appointment and was setting up at exact appointment time - did a beautiful job and also cut out a giant bird-of-paradise setup next to the palm as a courtesy to me... thanks to Nature First - Davey team... pros with the customer concern in mind. read more

We have had the local Soquel office Davey Tree team out to our mountain home to keep our trees trimmed and healthy. They have never looked better. The team was very professional and left my property looking better when they were done then it did before they started. They are very knowledgeable about the trees I have and were more than willing to answer all of my questions. I would recommend working with Travis and his team for all of you tree needs. Then Davey tree came out to prune our trees at the hospital there were cars parked where they needed to prune so I came after hours to block off parking I asked them if I could get some of the chippings they said sure and drove away I called the office to ask about them leaving and not leaving me some chips never received a call back two days later they dumped a load of crap on the property I guess you get what you pay for with them read more

This is a review update based on management response to my complaints. The manager came in person to follow-up and informed me that all the issues I mentioned to him (the same as what was posted in my first review) would be addressed in a staff meeting. They seem to be actively trying to correct their mistakes which shows a high level of professionalism from the management. Hopefully the work crews make the same level of effort to begin with in the future. The site was left very clean afterwards, and the manager came himself to finish this portion of the work. read more

In the mountains, oftentimes folks hire just a tree cutter. I'm a firm believer in the value of having a qualified arborist. Go no further than Davey Tree. I continue to have challenges with PG&E maiming my trees (though I understand the need), but Davey Tree was able to provide expert response to my questions about the reason, results, and how to correct. I've had them out twice now on a beautiful ash tree that they have resurrected with skill every time - and not just another hack job; done right and to the benefit of ensuring the stability and grace of this tree. I also have a number of redwood trees on my property that need to be cared due to unusual growth patterns. Davey Tree far surpassed any other service I've received in terms of understanding the special needs without compromising the tree itself. End all, the whole team was friendly, well trained, and actually knowledgeable in tree care and characteristics (this surprised me). Travis was thorough and had his team complete the job to specification without any adjustments or concerns on my part. I paid only a slight bit more, but the value in having the job done correctly and under the care of those who actually had a concern for the outcome of the tree's life, look, and sustainability was well worth it. The results? - Beautiful trees and a job done quickly, efficiently, with good cleanup, at a fair cost, and even with discussion of the process/outcome afterwards. I call that thorough. I highly recommend Davey Tree. I worked with Travis when he was in the San Jose office. His team trimmed, treated and planted trees for our home in Willow Glen. One time I used a different company because their quote was lower and regretted it. Now Travis is in the Soquel office. I have cypress trees at my home in Pacific Grove. I trust everything Travis tells me. He has deep watered, treated and trimmed our trees. He is a knowledgable, trustworthy and extremely responsive.
