This is not the place for any dog. I think they are in the cage way more than they let on, the guy at the front desk is so unfriendly and I felt like I was bothering them when I went in. No idea what the dogs eat, how often they go outside, and my dog was never tired when he got home. What kills me is that they say it's upscale, but it really is not, it's dark, and you can't find out about your dog during the day, no pictures like my last place, no way of knowing what's happening. And if that really is the owner at the front desk, then he needs a new line of work because neither people nor dogs are his thing. read more

Do your dogs a favor and go somewhere else! Dogs were filthy and smelled strongly of urine when we picked them up. The kennels must have have been disgusting. They couldn't find one of our dog's collar (umm it had her name tag on it?) and the other dog had punctures on the top of his head from another dog. I hear the aggressive dog is a GSP that belongs to the owner and that it has attacked numerous dogs. read more

I have two elderly dogs (15+). My schnauzer has arthritis and has difficulty standing on the grooming table. He also doesn't like the brush around his face. He got groomed today and they did an excellent job with him. They were patient with him and allowed him to lay on the table. ( they worked with him). Great cut. I have a completely different opinion of The Dawg House in Gulfport than some of these very negative reviews. . My boxer goes for day care a few times a month and we both love it. She's well socialized though and plays well with other doggies. The facilities are clean and well kept, the outside play area is large and well maintained. There are some new(er) staff that I really feel are more invested in the place and care about the dogs rather than this just being a temp summer job or whatever. I know there were issues in the past with some staff who didn't provide the care they were supposed to. Hazel Mae is very happy to have play days at the Dawg House! read more

This place was awful. I'm pretty sure my dogs were kept kenneled the entire time with only breaks for the bathroom -- no playtime. I say this because they've been kenneled and in daycare since they were pups and have never torn up their beds. A great indicator of not enough play time or stimulation. I went in during the week and picked up on a Sunday. The whole place smelled like urine. Won't be using them again. read more

I would not bring my dog here again. When we picked him up he was covered in urine and he had bite marks on his face. We were not made aware what to expect when we picked him up. We are still finding bite marks. Please do not take your dog here. read more

My family and I were in Gulfport Ms and we dropped coco off at the Dawg House of Gulfport ,MS the staff was friendly, caring and treated my fury friend like family!. My experience was Great, and my pooch was happy and when we arrived!!. I thank the dawg house staff for what they do, to help family with pets it not always an easy task they are like children!! The Dawg House in Gulfport is great! Hilo's 2nd visit was today, a full day of doggy day care, and right now he is peacefully sleeping in his bed. Thankful to the Humane Society of South MS for including info about The Dawg House in our adoption paperwork. Great family-owned business! The only place where dogs can play together. However, there is a temper screening, and they do prohibit aggressive breeds. Just a heads up! Very reasonable prices for daycare, boarding and grooming (we don't this too much). Too bad we're moving because we and our dog love this place. He gets exhausted for about 2 days after daycare too. For boarding, make sure you supply enough if his/her food along with any medication(s). With clear instructions, they will handle the rest. read more

Won't be using The Dawg House to board any longer. They were able to watch my standard poodle over the Christmas holiday, and the reviews were pretty good so I felt comfortable after making the arrangements. I was advised to bring a blanket and some toys - personal belongings to help him feel comfortable. He isn't neutered and I knew he would be in the kennel more often then not so I bought a new bone, toy, packed a blanket... my boy was going to be comfortable. When I dropped him off they took him back right away, and I was offered extra add ons (kong, camera, grooming, etc). I asked for the kong so he could have something extra to keep him occupied and the camera since he's never stayed away from home. They were out of cameras... okay, nothing I could do about that. The overall price was cheaper than what I was quoted over the phone so that was a nice surprise. Fast forward to 5 days later when I was able to pick him up... didn't ID me, I feel like that should be a standard. Yes I knew his name but it just made me feel weird. They gave me his food and the bag filled with his toys before they brought him out. As I loaded up the car I realized I didn't have his blanket. When I mentioned I was missing his blanket they said it was on top of his kennel (who knows for how long) and when they brought him out he smelled like he was laying in pee for HOURS. I had to bathe him that night because the odor was so dang strong. Once I unpacked his belongings I saw that the new bone and toy weren't touched... the bone had peanut butter in it so that he would be occupied for a while and he lives for his toys. I wish they had a camera available so I could really see his living environment, but the simple fact that he wasn't given the items I was advised to bring is enough for me to not use their services again. It was convenient at the time but I felt so bad for the poor boy when I picked him up. read more

Seriously aggravated with this mediocre place. Staff looked like they didn't know what the h*** they were doing. Forgot to inform our dog needed shot records and called after 30 mins we dropped her off. Did not take time with my dog to groom her. She gets very anxious around barking loud dogs which it's packed with. They said they couldn't touch her because she was too scared, And left her like she was. Rude on the telephone. This place is awesome. I have a dog that was scared of other dogs. They took time with her and she is now able to be around the other campers without any problems. She gets to go visit about once a month (or maybe a little more) and would much more often, but we live about 40 minutes away. Great place to take your dog for socialization and exercise. I've been taking my dogs to daycare since they where puppies in Virginia, we moved here and the only place to take them was the dog house. My dog has been injured 3 times now and had to have expensive vet visits and they say they have no idea how his leg got cut open, or why he is limping and barely moving. they said he is just rambunctious, but for years in VA he was rambunctious and never had to go to the vet. Either they are not paying close enough attention to the dogs while they play or they are lying either way I won't take my dogs back there. Also when I had my dogs groomed there they came back still wet and smelling like wet dog. read more

Dropped both dogs off at the same time for four nights. Got a call stating that although I specifically told the girl at the front desk AND wrote it down on the forms she had me sign that they are to be fed apart, they were NOT. They got into a scuffle & the girl working over the weekend stated "I only work on weekends so I didn't know they were supposed to be getting fed separately" WTF kind of excuse is that? Came home early from my trip to pick them up & got home to find out one of the pups had scabbing all over his belly. These kids here have no idea what they're doing. Called to find out where these massive scabs came from and NO ONE KNEW. I was told I would be getting a call from the owner & surprise....no call. Should've known better considering the location & the amount of kids working here. I never write reviews but I felt it nessacary to warn others. They've never had issues at any other boarding places except this one. read more

Look, I'm new to the area, and my dogs are my best friends! They mean more to me than my own family. Those drunks, they will never understand! But anyways, I was going on a men's only golf trip to Vegas, and needed someone to watch my dogs, that's when my yoga partner Donny told me about The Dawg House. I was skeptical, sure, but I took Lucy and Ethel there and immediately I could feel the dog-pounding love as soon as I entered the door! Needless to say, the gentleman at the counter took care of me and my little puppies! They came home smelling absolutely delightful and were so wore out from doing so many dog activities, that I thought they might just faint! What a grey service for the community! I love the Dawg House! They keep it "doggy style" and that's what's up!!! read more

Terrible place. If you love your dog, don't leave them at this place. We left our dog there for 4 nights. The dog was filthy after having been sitting in her own feces. She was tremendously dehydrated. We had to take her to the vet immediately following this stay. And, as far as we can tell, they didn't bother to give her the food we left for her. She was fine going in and has never had a problem with boarding before. read more

We are RV folks from Washington state. Yesterday I called the Dawg House after reading numerous reviews. I was hoping they could groom our Shih Tzus as this Gulfport MS weather was so hard on them. The receptionist said no problem. they could be done the next day at 9:00. We have skittish dogs but the groomer said no problem. She explained it would take about 5 hours for the two of them as she plays with them a while before she starts. the business was neat and clean. They even have a doggie playground out back with all sorts of equipment. She said she would call if there were any problems and she would call if it they finished early. She called us by 1:30 and said they were ready to pick up. We were impressed with her. She told us about our male's dewclaw problem and other issues she had seen. The receptionist even commented about our male having a crooked tooth and he liked his smile! I mean these folks cared! Time came to pay, and we thought it might be spendy due to the short notice. They charged us less than our regular groomer! Please know this is a wonderful business and if we are ever in the area, we will return! read more
