I never expected to write a yelp review about a DJ company, but with the experience I had with The DC DJ's I had to share. I first contacted Mario about 3 weeks before a huge event for my office. Worried I was too late, they told me about this very last minute, mario assured me he would be happy to help! This was the third DJ company I had contacted and this was also the only one who got back to me. I was so relieved to hear I had a chance. Mario took the time and "interviewed" me basically to figure out what my party needed and how he could make that happen. He came to "survey" the space a few days in advance to know exactly what he needed to bring, equipment, lights, everything. He arrived early, set up and was ready to go before the party started, past experiences with DJ's (like for a 20th anniversary party) have shown up over an hour late, and then take about 45 minutes to set up. Everyone LOVED this DJ, he had a great energy, he was keeping the dance floor packed! I had never seen my boss do the wobble but it was probably the best night of my life! I was over joyed with how professional and fun Mario was, people still talk about that DJ we had and often ask for the information. Personally I am planning my own wedding now and I cannot wait to have this company at both my ceremony and reception. Do you have a Corporate Event that needs a DJ and skilled Emcee to engage a somewhat tough crowd? Yes? HIRE THIS COMPANY NOW and read this review later. First off, I don't do reviews. I can count the number of times, I have done them on one hand and those were all negative (which is par for the course especially for online retailers) but for once I have an exception for Mario of DC DJs which is extremely rare. So as a little bit of background, this is the first time our company has done this type of event which was to have a Holiday Dinner party WITH music and games afterwards. It's normally eat and bolt type event which are relatively easy to do. To say I had my doubts about DC DJs initially went without saying since most reviews for them were for weddings and other dance related venues. I even scoured reviews about them from other sites to no avail (for corporate venues). As such, I even quoted several other DJs, small and some large. So my company had viable 4 options to go with. To my surprise, going by the plain hard facts we got: 1) Great pricing, so good it put 2 DJ's on Santa's naughty list automatically for absurd level pricing. 2) Very responsive. Mario focused on the look and feel or HOW we envisioned the party. He asked the big questions that are often missed by people doing it for the first time. 3) Punctual. The last thing I need is stress so not having to worry about the DJ was a big plus. 4) Took all the games, prizes, timetables, we had, which was a lot and made it his own to emcee. The above is 4/5 stars. What made it 5? 1) He managed a somewhat tough crowd (we work for gov't agencies - read introverted) which is hard to warm up and had them falling all over themselves to participate in games. Also company games sometimes have a negative stigma associated to them, but Mario turned that paradigm upside down to my surprise. 2) I opened the event to warm them up to Mario with a stand up/monologue of sorts, but he needs NO introduction. He could have done a cold open and would have been just fine, if not better. 3) We HAD a backup plan which was for me to emcee it, but with all of Mario's 12+ years of experience, he just ran with it with almost no direction from me. So instead of this event being nerve wracking for me, I actually had time to enjoy the evening. 4) No one 'snuck out' before or during the games that I saw, which is a testament to his stage presence. 5) He impressed our top execs (which is VERY hard to do), I have a problem doing that and I WORK with them. So it is no longer an IF we will use DC DJs again, it's now a matter of WHEN and how often. read more
