We've lunched at the Deli on quite a few occasions. It has very stylish bright decor, efficient staff and cosy ambiance. It has a full license and carries a large selection of wines.
There is an excellent, but not too extensive, selection on the lunch menu. The food is well prepared and presented. The Irish Steakburger(with fries), which is cooked to order,is excellent and very filling. The cod (in beer batter) and chips are also excellent as is the cajun chicken salad. BLTs go down a treat.
Recently I had the Beef Stroganoff (from the Daily Specials' Board) and, yes, that was excellent as well. It was a toss up between the Stroganoff and Mackerel with veloute potato dish. On this occasion the Strog won but next time, if it's on, I try the mackerel.
My wife and our friend reported the Lasagne as being "first-class". We usually finish off with a very good cappucino.
At 12.30 there is usually a queue but a table is worth waiting for. Get there for 13.15 and you should be seated immediately.
As I've stated above, the staff are always "on-the-ball". My wife and our friend don't particularly like the lasagne portion served separately in a dish - they prefer it on the plate with the fries. Our waitress said, "No problem," and they got the food the way they like it. Excellent.
Concepta is the bistro's head waitress and she keeps room ticking over nicely. read more
