Definitely doggie friendly, but I would really like a place that has the human pet parents in mind. As a dog mom I would like a place that has items for me also like: coffee with creamers available and treats for the human pallet also (cookies, cupcakes, muffins etc. There could be a glass front fridge with different drinks available. There is no restaurant right next door and my bet is it isn't up for small orders at cash register. It doesn't look like there is even a credit card machine to pay for any items you might want. read more

After reading reviews of other dog bakeries, I kept noticing a pattern of 'I wish I had gone to The Dining Dog instead.' Fortunately, I listened to those reviews and went straight to The Dining Dog when Scrappy's 14th birthday rolled around. The Dining Dog is owned and operated by Dorothy. After spending a few minutes with her, it is obvious that dogs are her true passion. That passion shows in her product and the long relationships she's developed with her clients (both two and four legged). In addition to her special bakery orders, Dorothy offers a four course meal for your friend or if you prefer, an a la carte menu. From the little treat Scrappy tried out, I was impressed (and a bit jealous). There is definitely a little bit of love in every bite. My dogs celebrated their 2nd birthday this last week, so I began researching dog bakeries and was thrilled when I found this place with such high ratings. Good thing I checked their hours on Yelp, because I almost drove 45 minutes to take my dogs to The Dining Dog on their birthday. Yelp said they were open Thursday- Saturday. Knowing that most businesses don't reply to inquiries on Yelp, I took to google in an attempt to try and find an email or website to email the business and ask about reservations, and a couple other questions that could have easily been answered on a website, but the website I found wasn't even active. My next attempt was to try Facebook. Sending my message, I asked my questions and patiently waited. With no response. They read my message but couldn't bother to answer my questions? I was already pretty turned off by this. But ask asked again, and pointed out that I could see my message was read, but never got a response. Finally, 3 days later and I get a horribly written response with one excuses after another as to why they read my message but never responded. And even more frustrating, my original questions weren't even acknowledged. Turns out though, they're only open 1 day a week, which is fine. But it doesn't match ANYTHING on Yelp, Google or Facebook and it took them half a week just answer THAT question. I won't be driving the distance to bring my dogs here because I'm so disappointed by the lack of customer service this place has. I'm not sure how this place has such high ratings when they are so hard to get ahold of and further more, ignore you, take days to respond and when they do, don't bother to answer all your questions. I will avoid this place. Since leaving my feedback, the owner decided to spill all her personal issues out as excuses as to why they can't reply to a couple questions. The Dining Dog Cafe and Bakery is not a place where one goes to eat (or bake) dogs, fortunately. It's a restaurant FOR dogs, run BY dogs. Even the waiters are dogs and they bring you the food by pulling a little cart out to your table. Okay, that part isn't true. But it would be a classic idea, so hey, Dining Dog people - make that happen. Anyway, the place is set up like a quaint little French bistro of some sort. They've got linen table cloths, nice place settings and very cozy decor. It's very sweet, and believe me, that's tough for me to say. They have leash tie-ups at each table so you can keep your dog still if they're a little excited. And if they're anything like my dog when he gets around other dogs and/or delicious treats, they will be. The waitress, who also happens to be the owner, will bring all the dogs at the table water and then start bringing out the appetizers. We had the "cheesy hot dogs", and I'm guessing by Elvis's reaction that they were pretty tasty. Not that I'd know. Okay, fine, I ate one. At some point, you just choose a meal off the menu and order. It's a bit hard to keep a straight face through this process, especially when the waitress asks "What will Elvis be having tonight". *eyeroll* Well, generally he eats anything I drop on the floor, so what do you got? Elvis did end up having the chicken pot pie, and he seemed sated. The food is all dog-friendly and healthy - lots of veggies and pretty easy on their stomachs. It's shockingly cheap, too. Elvis had an app, his entree and desert, and it cost me a whopping $10. They have a little dog bakery in the cafe as well, and she'll bring around the desert tray at the end so you can order some dog pastries. It's the same kind of thing they've got downtown at the dog bakery near the market, but I actually thought these were a little higher quality. So if you're looking to do something nice for your dog on his or her birthday, I recommend you take a trip north to Edmonds. It's a little out of the way, but I assure you that you're dog will be ecstatic. Keep in mind that it's only open from 3pm-7pm, Tuesday through Saturday. We had a group of about six dogs, so we called ahead for a reservation. Oh, they don't serve food for people there, but you can get human food at the restaurant next door and bring it in. Something about health code violations keeps them from preparing dog food and people food together. Blasted health department......always ruining my good times. read more

We celebrated Little Jimmy's 6th Birthday at the Dining Dog and had THE BEST TIME! Dorothy is fabulous and so wonderful with our two little shih tzu and giant lab mix. Went to a birthday partyu there with my Shelties - thought it would going to be goofy silly, but it was a great time. The owner is such a happy person, and loves the dogs - everything about the place was for the dogs. Don't panic if your dog jumps on the tables, they are allowed to, and I *do not know* how they know that! My dogs have tons of obedience in their history, do not even beg when we have company over for dinner, and my dog jumped up on a chair, waited a moment, then next thing you know had climbed up onto the table, lol and there was not even food there! It was so nice, they had a low piece of furninture for my old dog to be fed at because she could not sit in a chait at the table , and a waitress fed her because I was busy breaking up dinner for my cleft palate dog who has to eat carefully. He thought he had died and gone to doggy heaven, he never gets cool stuff, but darn it, I was going to let him enjoy this birthday party : ) Yeah, he snorked and snuffled a little, but I get the feeling he thought it was worth it : ) So for a more serious dog person to end up being enthralled, it was pretty neat experience : ) 8 people and 11 dogs laughing it up and having "cocktails" (dogs two choices, humans got sparkling apple juice I think it was). JiJi and I have been going here for the past 2 years to celebrate both our birthdays together. We're from Shelton, and we don't mind the drive. We have been going to the dining dog since around when they opened, staff is always friendly and always willing to help us. We have had many complications with our one dog and they would spend hours at a time talking with us about which is the best diet for our dogs. They were willing to help us choose the best treats for them from their doggie cafe as one of our dogs has allergies. Amongst all this COVID-19 chaos we stocked up on food but started to run low and the staff at the dining dog were happy to fulfill a curbside pickup for us, I didn't even have to get out of my car as they simply put it in my car for me. This place is the BEST. I found Dorothy in 2009 when I moved back to Washington. She made my dogs birthday cake. the next year we had his party at the diner. the dogs had a great time. Dorothy always makes it fun and interesting. I have couples massage, birthday dinners, (mine and the dogs) or even just picked up takeout for my little one. This is an awesome restaurant for your fur-babies!! They owner is very nice and friendly. I went here for my sister's dog party and all the dogs that went seem to have a blast. They serve a 3 meal course, and it comes out looking very beautiful. The owner and the other waitress did a great job of going out of her way to help make the fur-babies comfortable. They even remembered all the names of the dogs that came out to the party. Over all a fun experience for the fur-babies. I would definitely have my dog's party here!! Simply put, this place is awesome! I have brought all 3 of my little dogs for events and lunch and they all have a great time. The decor is very creative and designed to allow you to truly enjoy a meal next to your pup. The food for people is made in the restaurant upstairs, but the owner was gracious enough to offer to pre-order it for us or go get it. I actually didn't order human food, mostly because juggling an Italian Greyhound, a Pomeranian and a Chihuahua is hard enough (especially when they want their sisters food); but those that did order human food said it was good. The owner, Dorothy is great with all the dogs. She comes around and individually serves each one and helps them relax with belly rubs and kisses. :) My girls just love her! The prices are very reasonable $10 for most 5 course meals and she has a cookie, biscotti and donut case that you can buy from too (around $1-3 each). read more

I decided to take Simon and Mojo to The Dining Dog because it was Simon's belated birthday. Dorothy was catering that day but she took time out of her busy schedule to prepare a meal for Simon and Mojo. Since Simon's belated birthday we returned to The Dining Dog for Valentines Day, Mojo's birthday, St. Patrick's Day and Easter. Simon and Mojo go wild when they see the plates, all the dogs I've seen at the restaurant love the food. Dorothy goes around the restaurant interacting with all the dogs; it's obvious that she does what she does because she loves it and not because it's the "in" thing. I visited the dining dog when I was visiting from CA. I joined my sister and her dog and wished my own dog was able to come because the Dining Dog is the coolest place I have ever seen for dogs. Dorothy cares so much for these 4 legged patrons and pulls out the stops for their dining experience. I know that if my dog could have come, she would have been on cloud nine. I don't know what this Christina V is talking about, but I have known Dorothy for a very long time. She is the best groomer I know of and I have been to several groomers. She loves animals and she would never ever hurt an animal intentionally. This woman said these things about Dorothy without knowing Dorothy. If what this woman is saying about her dog is true, I know Dorothy, she would do everything in her power to make it right. Dorothy's place she is talking about is her home which is adorable and very clean. Dorothy does soooooooo much for the dogs and their owners and doesn't charge them. You are never going to find a most caring, loving, giving and sincere person than Dorothy. If you have a dog, you must go to The Dining Dog. You and your dog will love it. Hi there. I have been here, several times, with Winston, the Pug. We love it. It is the most fun. Dorothy is a great hostess, as well as her staff. I wish she had the time to open more cafes so we can go out more often. The food looks good enough for me to eat but Winston beats me to it. He is even allowed to walk on the table, which is not allowed at home. It is a lot of fun. Try to get there. Really.
