The five course fine dining culinary experience prepared by Chef Ashley Phillips was a great idea but the food was all cold when it was meant to be warm. The salad had zero dressing and all the other course's were cold. The steak was not edible because there were so many tendons coursing through the meat. At first I thought it was just me so I looked around the table an each and every person had the same problem and was on the struggle bus trying to eat the steak cold potatoes and cold carrot. So with it being cold and impossible to eat I had a small bit and left it on the plate. My partner didn't eat it either. The star of the dinner was the dessert. It was a super good chocolate tart and chocolate covered strawberry. I understand that the chef may not be experienced with large banquet style meals. It really takes a special set up to be able to pull it off. While we dined we enjoy the incredible lineup of performers ranging from comedy, aerial performers, and live music hand picked by show producer and singer Morgana Moon! Des Moines' own Morgana Moon and Chef Ashley Phillips of Ankeny were the organizers of this super fun evening. All in all we were able to over look the meal because the performances were so epic! We saw Red Riding Hood. It was all we expected from community theater, and not a lot more…read more It was fun. Not excellent or outstanding, but that's reflected in the ticket cost. Heads up - the play was 70 minutes long and the chairs were fine, but I wouldn't want to see a 2.5 hour play without bringing a bit of extra cushion. Still - a fun afternoon's entertainment. Our anniversary is the week after New Years, so we were grateful to see ANY live theatre to celebrate.

Going to a movie here has become a tradition for our family when we're home for holidays. We enjoy the control of picking our seats out in advance, and love that they have nice leather reclining seats. We also love that they do their own fun version of "previews" before the actual previews start - funny video clips, related snippets to the movie, etc. It's so personalized and fun! But what we love most isn't the movies at all. It's not even the chairs. IT'S THE GRAVY. Yes, you read that right. They make this pepper gravy that is simply out of this world. My family and I exclusively order the chicken tenders and fries as a mere vehicle for this deliciousness. Oh, and ask for double gravy - you'll need it. For my true Midwesterners: they have perfect "runny restaurant ranch" too! And their fries are divine. I'm sure other things on their menu are good too - we've been recommended their breakfast pizza (it has that gravy as the sauce) and chicken sandwich (again, with gravy as the dipping sauce) so we may branch out soon. We like their drinks too - we've had good cocktails and my brother and dad like their beers! The service is great - they take orders before the movie/during previews and get it out fast so the food/drink service doesn't disrupt the movie watching. They have an app you can order from and a button to push with any requests too. We took a weekend adventure to Pella and looked for nearby wineries while in the area. To our…read moredelight, we found Van Wijk which looked beautiful from the outside. We were excited as it was 5pm and they were open until 10 (typically on Saturday wineries are only open until 6). So, we went in, hoping to do a wine tasting and share a bottle on the patio. We were told we couldn't do a tasting since there was a wedding going on. Okay. So we tried 2-3 samples so we could order a glass we liked. The very few we tried were ok. We were at least able to pick one. Then we went to the patio. Photos of the view are attached. Beautiful view of an alley and someone's house and some cars. The best part is over our speaker we heard this couples entire wedding ceremony. We could see it through the patio doors too. Talk about uncomfortable. I'm thinking the winery should close to the public when they have a wedding ceremony going on - since we couldn't get the same service and had to listen to someone's wedding. What a strange experience. Good thing we never come through Sully, Iowa! Seemed like it could've been a cute place...if it closed for weddings.

It was a beautiful atmosphere with preferred seating both inside and out . Prices are extremely reasonable and we bought some wine to go. A fabulous time!!
