First visit is my last. Extremely disappointed. I rented a room and day membership for $51.00 What blew my mind is when I asked for a fresh towel, as mine was damp from the shower, I was informed it would a $1.00 more! I thought it was a joke as I've never had this happen before at any bathhouse. Sad but true, there policy is to charge an extra dollar for every towel exchanged. After spending 51.00 they want more! I found this very small minded. Additionally every tv was playing a 1980's vintage porno! One TV screen was frozen. Another in the sling room not working at all. With all the streaming options available today at least stream a current movie for the enjoyment of your patrons, not some throwback to the 1980.'s. Room was dirty and featured a tv with no remote so one could not adjust volume or channel. Sling room was pathetic. Owner obviously doesn't know how to hang a sling properly for the enjoyment of the guy in it. I did speak to the attendant about these concerns and unfortunately, he took it personally which I told him it was not intended to be. I just told him that for what they are charging and then providing it is definitely not worth it. Especially the fresh towel additional charge. The attendant was very polite and kind. I realized that it's not the attendant who makes the policy but the owner. Overall, I was very disappointed in this place. I feel bad for the people in Grand Rapids that this is the only outlet they have to meet others in a safe environment. Drive the three hours to Chicago or two hours to Detroit and visiting a real private men's club would be advisable. When compared to places like Steam Works, Club, Fort Lauderdale, and even Club Columbus, this place falls very short. read more

First time going, was a great experience. Staff was helpful and friendly, the place looked great, a little bit small, but overall, a fun place to be. I've never tried going to a gay sauna but I had a great time. The rooms are spacious, full of different options, and comfy beds. It's a safe way to meet someone through an app, get to know other gays in the area, and have fun. It's a little bit pricey I must say. But it's affordable! Since I'm a twink, the way I've met different guys is a better way than meeting someone through Grindr. Although the attention is a bit overwhelming, I enjoy it. I've enjoyed the atmosphere of the club too. It's a mellow/chill vibe. I've had various amounts of fun so far. I'd give this a place to go. If you're looking for fun or just wanting to have a great time, I'd highly recommend The Diplomat Club! I will continue to go here as it's the only place I can be myself, thanks to the staff. I visited this club a couple weeks ago. Very kind and nice people. Even the owner talks to you, and asks if there is any special ocomodations he could make to make my night a bit happier. I said to him. That I enjoy your place an am thankful, but I would enjoy meeting maybe some femboys. HE smiled, and told me he had a secured place in the back for men, who had a equired taste. It is a decent club to see people who are relaxing! Lots of guys that want someone to talk to and get to know! You could meet a office worker, FED Ex Driver, or even a lawyer there! After hearing about this place and it's new ownership and renovations, I thought I'd give it a try on its advertised "busiest" night. Located about 15 minutes from downtown GR, the pluses would be: super nice staff, a shop for your essentials, a place to meet people, close to downtown and plenty free parking. The layout is unique, as it is small compared to other places I've been, but has long corridors and opens up into large community spaces. The personal rooms are a small (with no tv's), a Jacuzzi, and some large open public rooms showing pretty updated movies and even a mini theater. The place has promise, and with some additional upgrades can really be amazing. The clientele ranged from twinks to XXL Bears of all ages, shapes, and sizes but wasn't very busy due to pouring rain outside. read more

I've been an off and on again member of the club since 2011 and I'm certainly glad a place exists like this for us gay gents....I really enjoy the showers and hot tub it's nice to relax and meet new people...plus the staff is very attentive to what you might need...owner is very friendly as well and likes to talk and joke with members....did I mention the massages you can get there....definitely gotta get one :) read more

What an Oasis! I was a bit concerned about coming to the Diplomat from some of the things that I had heard about the past style of management. I was extremely surprised when I was met by a personable and good looking attendant that went over and above to make sure I was comfy in the club. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the entire space, and the way the staff keeps any messes cleaned up, linen changed when necessary, and videos playing in all areas! The other thing that impressed me was the fact that there was music in the background, but you could actually relax and not have it pulsing in your ears! Everyone I met at the club was friendly, considerate, and a lot of fun to get to know! This is one of the first men's clubs that I have ever visited that I felt comfy and happy during my entire stay! Only suggestions are... 1). Maybe some new mattresses in the rooms? 2). PLEASE repair or replace the sling upstairs! It is in deed of some attention! All in all, I give the "Dip" 5 stars for friendly, clean and proactive staff that makes it a great place to go and feel safe and relaxed! My first time visiting a club like this and I couldn't have had a better experience. All of the guys that work there are super nice and are more than happy to walk a newbie through the process. The owner went out of his way to make sure that I had everything that I needed and that I was comfortable staying in the loft room located upstairs. I was lucky enough to have picked the first weekend of the month to stay there. The first Saturday of each month is a busy day all day long, cumulating in a really enjoyable party at night that lasts well into the morning hours. They also provide free testing for anyone that wants it on the first Saturday of every month. The crowd is diverse and the owner and employees are really just great guys. I was completely comfortable being there within an hour. My helpful hint is just to go in planning to be yourself, hang out, and have a good time! read more

The positives first: The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the lobby area has many amenities and things for sale. People I met inside were also friendly and helpful. Facilities include a sauna, a hot tub, showers and lockers. Not so impressive: compared to other gay saunas/bathhouses I have visited (over a dozen around the world), this place was bit odd. The lighting is very bright or just bright everywhere. The gloryhole room has been moved to make way for yet more of the lucrative private rooms, and the new gloryhole room is bizarre: bright lighting, white fixtures(!), no divisions between holes, and everything viewable from outside the area; in other words, the complete opposite of what you want in a gloryhole area. There is no hope of anything approaching anonymity. It's like they don't want it to be used, but can still claim that technically they have one. I was surprised to see sheets with bedlinen (instead of the usual vinyl pads) in the open area; again so brightly lit that only a real exhibitionist would consider using them. I didn't see anyone doing so. They're obviously trying to drive you into the private rooms which take up most of the place. Condoms are provided but lube must be purchased; there's a big emphasis on selling you things. There is an area with free coffee and snacks, but looking at the open bowl of pretzels and considering where the hands that had dipped into it might have been only minutes before was enough to make me shudder. No thanks. The music was a constant techno mix which seemed at odds with the décor but in line with the tastes of the staff. The place is old, and while it has been patched up on the inside, the outside is all rotting wood, falling eaves and peeling paint; it looks very down-market and seedy, almost on the brink of collapse. This is by far the most laid back and comfortable setting and club for gay men, it's the only place you can feel comfortable and actually feel good about yourself without being judged on top of everything is always so clean and staff does a great job maintaining this place I have been here 6!times so far in month because I'm so impressed and I'm absolutely in love w this place and safe way to meet people read more
