I Don't Care is a speakeasy tucked inside the Amway that leans hard into the hidden-bar concept. There are no signs and you need to put a code on the key pad outside to get in, and the only way to get that code is by signing up for their mailing list. That said, it is pretty painless. You can sign up on the spot and the email with the code comes through within minutes, so it does not slow things down too much. They offer outdoor seating even in the winter, and while it is technically heated, you will still need a coat. It was cold enough that we chose to sit inside instead, but the interior was also chilly. Every time the door to the patio opened, a draft of cold air rushed in, which made the space feel colder than expected. The drinks are on the expensive side, but the quality mostly backs up the price. I ordered the Donna's Kiss and it was absolutely worth it, very well made and delicious. My friend had a Moscato that was sweet and easy to drink. We also ended up getting two free shots of tequila because they liked our vibes , which was a nice and unexpected bonus! My boyfriend and I first came to IDC about two years ago for our first date and had a great time. Since then, we've given it a few more chances, but each experience has been disappointing. especially the overpriced drinks served in plastic cups. Last weekend, we waited 20+ minutes outside while watching multiple people walk in and out without waiting. We eventually used the entry code because we assumed that's what we were supposed to do. We had no intention of cutting anyone. Once inside, we waited by the sign to be seated while several staff members walked past without saying anything. Then, three employees immediately told us we had to wait outside because we were "behind the group outside." We would have gladly waited if someone had simply communicated that to us, but the way it was handled came across as rude and arrogant. They made it feel dumb, even though we thought we were doing what everyone else had. If there are specific entry rules, communicate them clearly. Why have a code if customers are expected to stand outside for 20+ minutes with no explanation? It's a bar in Grand Rapids, not NYC or LA. The attitude is completely unnecessary. Came in for the first stop of the night on Saturday 10/4/25 around 6pm. There wasn't a wait nor was it full. We were sat right away at a tall table with a great view of the street. Our server was very nice, she was busy but we didn't wait too long. No bar nuts - and as the only food on the menu I was disappointed because I'm starving. But it's no big deal. Fun experience! We had dinner across the street at Ato and wanted to grab an after meal drink. After a little online research, we were able to find the secret door and passcode! We have been trying to get in here for the past several years. This is a speakeasy located in a hidden spot in the AmWay plaza. We had some difficulty finding it and the hotel staff will not help you. I recommend going on line for assistance. Once we found it, it seemed pretty obvious though lol. You also need a secret code to get in. I believe you have to subscribe to their online newsletter or something to get the code. When you walk in you are greeted by a host who will seat you. There is an indoor area but it's relatively small. I was a bit concerned when the hostess started walking us to an outdoor patio. I mean it was about 50 degrees out so not freezing, but I didn't want to be cold at all. Have no fear though. That patio was super warm. There were heaters and fires going. I couldn't get any great pics of the view but the city was lit up with Christmas lights and it was really quite beautiful. They have a ton of photo op spots up there as well which is always fun! We had a scotch tasting to get to so we only stayed for one drink. I would definitely love to come back in the summer and enjoy a longer visit but this was definitely worth the wait! Like many others have mentioned, the only real perk of this place is it has a fantastic balcony view and it's a nice spot to relax on a cool night. I was staying at the hotel for a business trip, and someone said, "we have a speakeasy!" So, I was like hella cool, I want to check out the speakeasy! So I got the passcode and then went to find it. Once I got in the door I was ... confused? That's probably the best way to put it. When I think "speakeasy" I think low lighting, mellow jazz music, you know, prohibition style themes and decor. This was NOT that. It's basically a yuppie chic kind of style with rave music - so it was loud, crowded, and generally just not a pleasant chill vibe like I'd been hoping for. I got one drink - and like most have said - service was slow to non-existent. Took like 20 minutes to get a single glass of wine for one person. Once I'd finished it, I paid the tab and left - and didn't go back for the rest of my stay. I've been to IDC twice now, and it's definitely an experience you don't want to miss! From the "secret" code entrance to the view, it's an iconic spot in downtown GR. The drinks are on the pricier side, but the Donna's Kiss cocktail was one of the best I've ever had! I also had the Butter My Rum, and it wasn't my favorite, but that's likely just a preference thing. Service is pretty middle of the road, but that's expected, considering the server is running all over a whole patio. The ONLY reason IDC is getting so many stars is because the view is very cool. The wait to get in was not terrible. The host was the nicest guy, but our server seemed to not care at all. It was very difficult to get her attention, and she only checked on us one time on her own. The drinks were okay. They were presented very well, but for the price, I expected them to be better. The bathroom is outside of the space, meaning you need to be let back in either by the host or knowing the door code. Honestly, I would like to go again to see if I have better experience, but I was really disappointed! I think my favorite place about this was finding the speakeasy. We had to wind our way through the sky bridge and found the secret door after getting a code to enter. The speakeasy is cool because there is a balcony that overlooks a street in the hotel district in downtown Grand Rapids. There's music playing and heaters so you stay warm. I like it here! I've been here a handful of times, mostly with just 1 other person, but also with a group. Even on a Friday or Saturday night, it isn't too busy to get a seat/table. One night they had even rented half of the place out for a birthday and they were still being very accommodating and trying their best to get people seated. I have only ever sat outside, but I see that there is indoor seating. Never once have I actually seen someone sitting inside, though. The drinks are good!!! The cocktails that I have had from their menu are very good. They are on the pricier side, but it is in the Amway, so it is expected. But they have cocktails, beer, wine, etc., to cover everyone's needs. The concept of the secret bar is cute. I'm not sure how secret it really is anymore, but it is still pretty neat. I'm glad that this gem is available in the heart of the city. It's in the Amway Grand and gives you a great view of the city. There is a code on the door to get in, but we actually had someone at the host stand. We were promptly seated outdoors on the bar stools and while I enjoyed those seats, the actual seats were horrible! The bar stools were really uncomfortable and wobbly so we ended up standing instead, but really still quite enjoyable. So my husband and I came here one night since we were in town for a wedding. Its a short cocktail menu and there is no food, I recall there being nuts or pretzels that could be purchased though. The outside patio over looks part of the DT Grand Rapids area. Decent view. Located inside the Amway Grand Plaza. You could see it from the sidewalk and theres loud music playing from it, you can hear it from the street. We arrived, then walked inside, in which it wasn't the easiest to find. After walking around a bit, we found a door on the 2nd level, unlabeled to where it led, but there was a small host desk and a few people lined up. I honestly didn't know if I was in the right place until I asked a couple people. So we are waiting in this odd line for what seemed to be 15-20 minutes. I kept thinking, wow this place must be really awesome to have this line and people waiting. So when we got up there, we were let into the bar area...it was SMALL and there was a small bar to the right and some indoor seating to the left, then it could lead out the to patio which probably only sat 20 people or so. There was no menu to preview, so we got there only to find a small cocktail menu and less than a handful of snack items. The interesting part was it wasn't even busy or packed at all, but they held people in that line as if it would be. I personally think it was trying to build up hype that wasn't there. The experience overall was a bit frustrating in my mind or perhaps my expectations were in the wrong place as Chicago rooftops and patios are pretty lit and packed 24/7. Inside IDC, you'll find the antithesis of the Grand Plaza. From the elegant, traditional and grandiose hotel, to the opened door of IDC- modern, flashy, stimulating. This venue boasts the rare experience of year long outdoor and indoor areas. The heat outside is impressive! Lights and fires create a reddish glow which contrasts the stark white furniture. A view of Monroe Ave creates a bustling vibe for such a secretive spot. The drinks here at IDC are good; but your wallet may object. I attribute the bar staff and menu creators for their well designed and seasonally diverse drink list. The drinks are appealing, and respectfully trendy. Watch out for the "personal disco punch" as it's strength speaks for itself. Otherwise, the fruity cocktails are fun and above average. The staff here is outfitted to the nines in disco worthy wear. The bartenders, waitstaff and management alike have been nothing but outstanding. In summary, IDC is a fabulous place to celebrate with friends; it's a go-to for an after (or pre) dinner drink with your SO, and a perfect destination to show off GR to out-of-Towners. To get the code, you just have to sign up for their email list, which is obnoxious. People get excited to type in a code to open the door but there's usually a wait outside with a host holding the door open anyways. We sat outside and the heaters couldn't keep up. This was a chilly fall night and everyone was very cold except for the people near the fire. It's a cool vibe outside on the deck looking over the street but the drinks weren't worth the cold. It was March so it helped keep us warm as well. The seating options included tables, lounge-type areas, and uniquely shaped furniture. The service was very good and everyone was very friendly. IDC only has drinks and bar nuts- no food so don't come hungry. It's the perfect place for pre or post-drinks. I got the Chocolate and Flowers drink which had Godiva, crème de violette, lavender bitters, vodka- so amazing!! Make sure to access their website in advance to get the secret code to get in! Pre-COVID experience IDC stands for "I Don't Care," and that's kind of how I felt about this place. There's a secret code that you have to punch in to get into the bar that they'll send it to you if you sign up for their emails. We asked where the door was at the front desk, and they told us the general direction but wouldn't give us the code. (We didn't need it.) The best part about our visit was getting to enter the code to open the door. The bar itself is tiny and doesn't have much space inside. They have an outdoor patio that is heated, so we sat out there in October. It was rainy but we stayed dry and pretty warm. I don't think I'd want to hang out there in the winter, though. The big loopy seating structures were fun but not the most practical. We all had to squeeze around one tiny cocktail table. The music they were playing was upbeat and fun, and not too loud out there. The cocktails we tried were okay, but nothing mind-blowing. I really liked the big red mural, which is super Instagrammable and very cool. Do you enjoy waiting forever on a not busy night to get a drink and then decide after 20 minutes to just go somewhere else, but can't find the waiter to tell them, so you just leave since you never got anything (not even a water), then shortly later get accosted by security saying you "skipped out on your bill" and are forced to go back and pay for drinks you never even got and STILL HAVE TO WAIT over 15 minutes to get and don't even get all of what you had ordered? Then this the place for you! The name fits because they truly do not care. If you want good drinks, service, and ambiance, go literally anywhere else. *RESPONSE TO THEIR RESPONSE (since I can't reply to their comment): We did speak to the GM and they did nothing last night aside from apologize for the "confusion" and say next time they will take care of us, but there deff won't be a next time.
