I boarded my two dogs. Yes they are very active boys, but they have never injured each other. Not only did they come home with one of them requiring 10+ stitches, but the injury was not even discovered/communicated to me by the "professionals". When asked about it... I was told my other dog caused it with his dew claws- which had been removed before we adopted him. $$$ vet bill later... Please don't subject your pets to this abuse! read more

I'm glad I didn't read prior & let any of the horrible reviews here sway me! I have had a hard time trying to find a groomer for my pup! Normally (when i was living CA) would take him to his vet but his here & none of them in town do grooming anymore! Friday, I got a last minute Saturday appt with *yughck* PetSmart (absolutely hate big chains would much rather use a small business) only for them to call me an hour before my 9:30AM appt to say that groomer isn't coming in & they were full for everyone else smh. I was disappointed I really need my pup groomed, he's blowing his summer coat something awful! So I called around to literally every groomer on Yelp & Google search. Not a single one would be able to take me until I reached Mandy! She happily said "I can get you in around 10!" I was ecstatic, not only was it that day, but also, I only had to wait 45 min to take him! I zipped up there & got him taken back while I filled out his paperwork. I dropped him off & got called back around 1:43, in the meantime my lack of wanting to eat due to a huge migraine had caught up with me. I was feeling so weak I could barely go in, before I could even call & meekly ask if he could be brought out to me; she was already taking him to pee before I even noticed them in front of me! I told her I didn't feel well & she let me send my card back in with her so I didn't even have to go inside Granted i know my boy is a rough one to groom as he's not cooperative, but the only thing I could suggest is a slightly more through job done, his neck under his chin was super full of shedding fur that's too thick for me to hand pick out. I lost my furminator in the move back to Kansas ! I would love for a "super shedder" add-on service to purchase just so he can be brushed out for more length of time! Otherwise, EXTREMELY happy they were able to squeeze me in! I wish I had taken before & after pictures but like I said was not feeling up to par at all that day Thank you Mandy!!!! read more

I was not happy with the service today. It was my pup's first haircut and I'm sure he was a little feisty and didn't want to cooperate very well. But my biggest concern was I dropped him off a little before 10 and I called around three to check on him and was told they were still working on him. Ran a couple errands then stopped by about 415 and the girl informed me that he should be ready because all of their groomers had left for the day. No one had called me to inform me that he was ready. So he was there from 10 o'clock this morning until 430 this afternoon. That does not sit well with me. if they were having with him, they could've called me and we could've maybe done another time to finish up so we wouldn't have had to be there so long. But mostly I didn't appreciate being called to let me know he was done. I have used them in the past for a few years and never had any problems.. I guess I'm gonna have to find a new place . Not recommend to any dog owners if you love your dog. They didn't ask for any vaccination documents when I sent my dog to day care. This worries me because I can't be sure my pup and others are safe. My dog is sad when we picked her up and you will know what I mean when you're a good owner. My dog literally hold her business for the whole day and this is the main reason why I need day care. Had to wait in the cold for 5-10 minutes, while there were two female workers at the front desk on their cell phones. Had to call again to be let in, then dealt with the attitude of who I can only assume, based on the other reviews, was the owner. The place was a mess. They had no record of my appointment. I am 100% behind this business. It is great to see a business owner have so much heart for the dogs. When grooming she does not stress the pet out so allows for them to take short breaks when needed. This may take longer than usual but I greatly appreciate them putting my dogs needs first. I have also enjoyed taking my dogs there for daycare. Took my nine year Australian Shepherd in for a grooming. They were told not to shave her. They shaved her entire body. Not only that, as if that wasn't horrific enough, my happy go lucky sweetheart came out frightened and sad. She has never been that way. These people didn't consider breed specific grooming; you don't shave an Aussie! It will take months for her fur to grow in and longer for her to get over whatever else happened there. There is no reason for her to have come out of there with her spirit shattered. read more

It's hard to rate a service that I wasn't able to fully observe. I have seen other reviews saying that the grooming was wrong, the dog was bitten, or things were damaged or missing. I can say that the boarding service was acceptable, in that my dog came back home healthy and safe. She did drink almost a full bowl of water as soon as she got home, but anytime a dog is in a new place they can be finicky or stressed and throw off eating/drinking/normal behaviors. The grooming, for what I expected for $30 or more was subpar. She didn't seem any cleaner, but if she was bathed Saturday and played with other dogs for two days then it's pretty understandable. Her nails were only clipped on one foot. If she seemed stressed by the process and they stopped then I would understand that, but maybe figure out a better way to handle it. The only thing I could not handle was that she smelled like she had been doused in perfume. Maybe it was to make her seem more recently bathed, but it was definitely overpowering. Overall, pretty average service. Good boarding, grooming needs improvement. read more

THe DIrty Dog is as Its name Says. Took my dog there and when i got her back she had little sores all over her. Watched a close eye on them for a week then yesterday I noticed they had a fever in them and extremely red. Took her to the vet sunday and he told me that she has caught " 2 degree Staff" wth!!!! he then asked me if she had been around any other dogs lately. She is the only dog in my household so i started to replay with a no then I forgot I had taken her to " The Dirty Dog " week ago. Mandi, Karli and their team provide a safe, active and loving environment for my fur kids. My dogs, both seniors now, are cared for as if they are the only ones staying there. The staff follow my special instructions for their feeding and medication and allow me to bring their own beds. I love seeing their pictures posted on Facebook while I'm out of town. I know they are loving their stay. I appreciate the care the staff takes to ensure that my babies are in a group that is made up of others of the same size, temperament and activity level. I can see from the photos that they are having fun interacting with other dogs in their group. When I pick them up they are well groomed and happy. I would never take my pets anywhere else in Topeka. read more

Terrible experience!!! I urge everyone to reconsider if you are thinking of bringing your pet here. We took our dog to get her hair and nails trimmed. Her hair was not cut as requested and our dog came home with dog lice. We did not notice the infestation for several days and when we called to inform the facility, we were told that we would receive a call back. We did not receive a call back, but did receive a reply to my husband's review that they treated our dog for fleas. Well, apparently they make it a practice to medically treat your dog without permission or consent. Also, I have a dated bill/receipt from my vet showing when we took our dog in BEFORE we brought her in to get groomed and vet can confirm that there was no infestation of any kind. We have a teacup Yorkie that is pee pad trained so she is truly an indoor dog. She went in clean without any infestations and came home infested with bugs. I will now file a report with the better business bureau for treating my dog with medication without my knowledge, consent, or permission. This is truly a terrible, terrible business!! read more

My dogs are rescues, as a result our border collie is even more anxious than other dogs of this breed. I'm his mommy, and can't even brush him! But at The Dirty Dog he just lines up for his hair cut and nail trims, no prob. My boys strut like show dogs after a spa day at The Dirty Dog, we call it "Going on Vacation". They know that going on vacation is fun for them, and no longer stress when the suitcases come out. read more

I just read the reviews on The Dirty Dog, and I wanted to add my two cents. I have been a customer of TDD for almost five years. Amanda (Mandi), the owner, has gone above and beyond the call of duty for me in caring for my two dogs on more than one occasion. I was on the way to the airport and took them to be boarded about six months ago and forgot their food. Mandi asked me what brand they ate, and she promised to purchase them some (with me repaying her when I picked them up) when she ran errands later that day. My dogs LOVE going to TDD and are always happy and tired when they return from day care or boarding. Mandi and her staff don't just care for the dogs when they're there, my fur kids are actually LOVED and cherished. Although we are not regular customers, the dogs are always greeted by their first names. I think people are more likely to write reviews when they're dissatisfied. I wanted people to know that I am more than satisfied with the care my fur kids receive from TDD and am planning for them to be boarded the weekend after next. read more
