The neighbor even bought a cap and blocked the pipe so my land and the north neighbor's land was flooded rotuinely as never before.. I pursued the neighbors pipe as the issue and hired johnston. I kept asking for him and his engineer friend to provided a pipe assessment to assess how the pipes were adding flooding to our land at a substantial cost. Johnston and his friend kept pushing me away from the final assessment so i went to acap. Acap provided no assistance and paraphrasing stated that lawyer's are allowed to pursue cases against the ligitgant's wishes. I am a medical professional and we always present the diagnosis and treatment plans to our clients and they decide their paths. Our previous documents were more than 2 decades old. Our attorney retired, as had the others in the firm. We had also moved and wanted to find one in the area. In addition, we wanted someone who specialized in this category and was young enough to hopefully still be working when we died. After experiencing what surviving family have to deal with while in the throes of grieving, we certainly wanted to have a much better plan in place so that ours did not have to contend with that. A huge hurdle was just getting someone to respond. I lost count of how many we contacted that didn't bother to return a call or email regarding our request. We don't chase such "professionals" as we don't believe they will be responsive to us once we are a client if they can't do that to get one. Even a response to explain they aren't in a position to add more clients would seem polite. In continuing the search, we identified Adria Dickey, looked at her website, reached out and had a response quite quickly. That was exactly how the rest of our business proceeded as well. We soon had consultation scheduled. We came prepared with old documents and lots of questions. She was thorough in answering in a way we clearly understood. That was good, but we also found her a great listener regarding our background and what we wanted to accomplish. She demonstrated that wasn't just going through the motions to provide some boiler plate language by asking lots of excellent questions and got us thinking about conditions we hadn't anticipated. She explained the fee, which we considered quite fair, and we hired her on the spot. Within a few weeks we had drafts of updated documents and a narrative to guide us in reviewing all the documents. We asked for a few slight changes and soon were again sitting in her office, making everything official. Highly recommend this experience professional. When i hired him I laid out $8000.00 for initial retainer. Then I never really spoke to him again. The only people you will ever see or talk to are his paralegals. After a couple of months waiting to get to a trial his office calls and says we are out of money and need another $8000.00 retainer! Unless you have money to burn, stay away from this guy. His reputation is based on old merits and he is not the pit bull attorney he supposedly once was. This is all presuming you are paying for your own attorney btw. If you are the party looking to take your soon to be ex to the cleaners and are planning on them paying for everything, including your attorney fees, you can disregard. But why would you want to waste all of that money giving it to this guy when you two could save it for yourselves and your children?

I interviewed 8 different lawyers. Mr. Cario is the ONLY one who mentioned how alimony had recently changed and I would be looking at paying the tax on alimony payments. That is a huge factor and no one else mentioned it! He asked what I wanted as the outcome: % of custody, house, retirement plan, and other things. He presented me with a brief review of a balanced outcome that might be in my best interest, with options based on what we had just discussed. Of course, he explained if he represented me, this would all be adjusted as information was provided with possible outcomes. He also clarified he takes care of the digging into the details because that is what he is paid for. The entire team at his firm is on top of everything. He also called me from his cell phone when I had a very urgent issue, while he was away dealing with just as serious of an issue for his family. When I apologized for taking him away from his issue, he told me not to worry. I already knew I had made the right decision, that just reinforced it. My outcome was more than I ever hoped for when talking to friends and family who have gone through a divorce before.
