We were in Nicholasville and looking for a local place to have lunch. Dixie Cafe is just a few miles from Nicholasville and near the intersection of Keene Rd and Harrodsburg Rd in Jessamine County. This place is amazing! Everything on the menu looked great. We asked some of the locals what was good and all of them said that their breakfast was amazing as well as their lunch items. For me, it was a tough decision between the 1/3 pound burger or the daily special which was the chili dog, fries and a drink. I had the chili dog and it was delicious. Great chili on the dog and the fries were good and crispy. We will definitely return here again and again when we are in the area. A short trip off the main road in Keene, but definitely worth the drive! A+++ read more

The Dixie is a hidden gem off Harrodsburg Road in the tiny town of Keene. It's part country store and part restaurant with a warm, friendly atmosphere. We love coming here for breakfasts and it gets VERY popular on Saturday mornings (they are closed Sundays). The Dixie plate is my favorite, their homemade biscuits and homefries are some of the best I've had anywhere! We always grab one of their delicious homemade muffins to eat the next morning (Blueberry is my favorite) and they always have a fun featured flavor depending on the season. The cinnamon rolls are also a great choice and not overly sweet. They even have tables and seating on their back deck overlooking green space for when the weather is warm. A great spot out in the country to enjoy a meal with your family! read more

Dixie cafe & quick stop is my number one place to hit up when I'm in the area. If I'm there, and I don't go to Dixie cafe, it's a day wasted. I love their breakfast burritos. I also appreciate how they put out all the sauces and utensils on the counter by the self serve soda machine. In the summer time the back porch is the place to be! Also, do you guys sell shirts? This was our first time stopping in. We called ahead because my husband cannot tolerate Canola oil. Cody said they used peanut oil!!! This is so awesome!!!! Just that alone was making us jump for joy. Research canola and you'll see that no one should be eating it. We did our research and found it to be the link to 5 ER visits. Anyway... It is great to have a place like my family needs. Variety!!!! Our kiddos that the pancakes so fluffy!!! Daughters was topped with strawberries and our son had plain. My husband got a huge homemade style burger with fried taters!!! This is big y'all, he CANNOT get fries pretty much anywhere. BurgerFi and FiveGuys are the only other place. Again, canola oil. I got pinto beans, cornbread, and cheese grits. They were delicious!!! We will be back. Maybe even today. Again there is a large variety to choose from. read more

We came in for a breakfast early in the morning on a weekday and everything was very good. We ordered a pancake breakfast that came with sides and it was both filling and cheap, which is hard to come by. The workers were also very friendly and there was both nice indoor and outdoor seating for this hole in the wall style restaurant. Keen. An elbow away from the main Lexington-Nicholasville drag but worth the detour. Great little cafe and a great place for a Saturday drive with your wife or best friends. Great food with thought, not a greasy spoon. And the value! Great potatoes, eggs, and real, not quick, grits. I have driven by The Dixie many times without stopping, which turns out to be very much my loss! What a cool spot! Tons of traditional breakfast and lunch options, served quickly, with lots of seating, including a few tables outside. The space also doubles as convenience store, with a few speciality Irish products in stock. I had the Dixie Burger, which was by far the freshest beef I have EVER eaten, and fried potatoes with onions. My companion had an enormous club sandwich, which she was pleased with, too. Prices are more than reasonable for the amount of food you get. Bonus: every meal comes with a surprise cookie! Absolutely delicious and I will certainly be back to try breakfast! read more

Great little quirky place to come eat, It is located out in Jessamine county, so nice to get out of the "city" for a change. You get quite a lot of food per helping so you get more bang for your buck. Their gravy and biscuits taste like Granny's! This is a great family owned place. Well worth the trip., we drove from Berra. We had the 3 Egg scramble which was big enough for two to share but we also added a side of Dixie potatoes with onions and sausage. The whole breakfast was great. I discovered this place only recently. Awesome food at reasonable prices. Had a phenomenal pulled pork sandwich for lunch and then went back for breakfast a week later and was not disappointed. Plus it's a nice scenic drive that only takes about 10 minutes if u live in south Lexington. My only complaint is it's not open on Sunday. read more
