We had Tony as DJ for our "Christmas In July" wedding. Where to even start. He was nothing but amazing from beginning to end. Music is such an important part of any wedding. For our ceremony he was able to quickly and flawlessly edit 2 songs that we really wanted to use. He cropped my processional song so that it played the intro, my favorite part and reached the chorus in that short walk down the aisle time. He was also able to turn our other song into an instrumental version and it all worked out beautifully. Tony was so great about quickly answering all of my questions along the way. He would check in and just made me feel at ease and excited for the big day rather than nervous. He also had the perfect uplights to give it the winter wonderland feels. The whole wedding was an amazing whirlwind and the end was kind of a blur. But seeing pictures/vidoes of everyone dancing and having fun was everything to me. Tony was able to get everyone dancing, not just on the dance floor but all over the ballroom. People of all ages... and amazingly... people I did not expect to be dancing! Tony was SOOOOOO good. We've just gotten back from our honeymoon, and all our friends and family keep telling us how much fun they had on the dance floor! Tony was a massive help in the planning process, and even helped us by making some mixes for the Mother / Son and Father / Daughter dances. As an emcee, Tony made sure that everything ran through without any issues. At one point during the evening, my husband needed a little time to sit down because of the heat (which meant we had to shuffle things around on our timeline). You would never have known! We had a dry wedding, and only 40 guests, yet I have never seen a fuller, more energetic dance floor in my life. Every single song he played was a hit - so much so that it was hard to take water breaks in between all the dancing! Everyone raved about how amazing he was and what a great time they had, and we couldn't have asked for a better time. He also was super creative and came up with a unique intro (i.e., introducing us like the Chicago Bulls) that was perfect for our personalities and was so much fun for our families too. Our wedding was one of the best parties of our lives thanks to The DJ Hawaii (aka Tony So). We have the somewhat now-typical COVID wedding story where we were supposed to get married December 2020 but then we decided to push the date back a full year. So we had been in contact with Tony since Fall of 2019, and had overall been keeping in touch with him for OVER two years. When we had our intimate wedding ceremony with just family in 2020, we even asked Tony to create playlists for the entire evening so we felt like we had a DJ there and he delivered without even being there! Fast forward to our new date in 2021. After much anticipation, anxiety and over two years of planning, we were finally were able to have our wedding in Hawaii. Tony not only served as just one of our vendors throughout the process, he gave us planning advice, kept us updated on what was going on on the island (regarding daily Covid restriction changes) and was just an amazing resource overall. After reading many positive reviews on the Wedding Wire, it didn't take me long to finally choose Tony from "The DJ Hawaii" as my emcee/DJ for my wedding. I had researched many different websites and found out that DJ Hawaii had done a superb job at different venues and every occasion. He is very easy to talk with. During one of my first conversations with Tony on the phone, he sounded very genuine. I got that feeling that he was willing to help me in any way he could. I had done most of my communicating with Tony through email since I was living in the mainland. In fact, Tony showed that he cared and showed concern when he emailed us to see if we were ok when Hurricane Ike struck Texas in 2008. Tony responded very quickly to ALL my emails and was always willing to accommodate anything that I needed. I needed a DJ/emcee who was fun and entertaining and who could liven up any party, in this case, a wedding. I also needed a DJ who could get people on the dance floor, including non-dancers like myself. I read somewhere that another person was afraid no one would get on the dance floor, but Tony somehow got everyone dancing at that party. This was something that I wanted to see for myself if Tony could get people on the dance floor. We met several times a couple of weeks before our wedding. My wife and I sorta had our wedding program set, but not quite. Tony was nice enough to help us tweak our wedding program for our reception to make it flow better. I don't know of any other DJ that will do this without charging extra. Tony showed his experience doing weddings because he made sure everything would flow perfectly on our programs and assured us that he knew exactly when to play certain songs at certain times. Tony also took into consideration the type of songs we wanted played at our weddings. When the day finally came, I remembered how professional Tony was. At one point, my wife was not too happy about our unity candle not being set up in our reception and that the room was not filled enough. Knowing that my wife was already stressed from making sure everything had to be perfect, Tony stayed calm and told us that he would wait a few more minutes for guests to arrive, (being it was a friday night) and proceeded to make sure that the unity table was setup in a timely manner before he would start the program. I was amazed at how smooth our reception went. Everything was in order just like we had planned with Tony. Tony did a great job with the emceeing and not to mention the AWESOME music that Tony and his assistant had played for the reception. This showed us that Tony was also very organized. We had our destination wedding in Oahu just 2 weeks ago and as all destination brides may know, it is a daunting process to find all the vendors from afar. A year before our wedding, we had made a visit to the island in hopes to book some of our vendors. As some of the reviews have mentioned, the wedding industry in Oahu, is small and if you're good, word will spread. We had already heard some good things about Tony, but wanted to meet him in person. When my husband and I first met Tony last year, he was so positive, happy and we could already tell then that he was going to do his best to make our day perfect. But we wanted to be careful with who we chose as our DJ and Emcee so we proceeded with meeting other vendors (flower/cake/venue) and other DJ's as well. Each time we met a new vendor (non DJ's) we asked if they worked with Tony before and took notes of their reaction. Needless to say, all the vendors we were meeting had worked with Tony at atleast one other wedding and only had positive things to say about his work and professionalism. So we booked Tony! Leading up to our wedding day, I had some wild requests such as stitching some musics together for a surprise dance I wanted to do for my husband and having very specific music (edited/remixed versions) to play during specific times. Tony was always responsive to all the emails, kept all the music files I sent via email. On the day of, I wasn't worried but kept telling myself, "If for some reason he doesn't play the exact remix edit... don't freak out..." Well guess what, he literally played all the remix songs I sent him at the exact time I had hoped it would be played. In some areas, such as the cocktail hour, dinner and dance, I trusted him that he knew our type of music. And boy did he nail it. The songs he played during cocktail hour was exactly what we had imagined to hear in the background. The songs played during dinner made us say "Oh yeah! There was that song!" So many good songs were being played during dinner, my husband and I got lost in listening to the music and watching our guests. In a romantic way, it was like a music video was playing in front of us. And the party dance music was spot on. Our friends are still talking about the songs they danced to. The songs he chose got our 80 year old grandpa to get up on the dance floor as well as our little 5 year old guests. It was perfect. And besides his skilled ability to bring out the best music, he was the best Emcee we could've asked for. He was so friendly to all of our guests as well as us, some of guests thought he had asked a friend of ours who happened to be a DJ to be our DJ and Emcee for the wedding! Hah! He made everyone feel comfortable, was able to communicate everything in a very friendly way and make everyone feel like the wedding was moving smoothly. It was perfect. I could probably keep going, but I'm going to end with the last song of our wedding night. In the document he sent us, there is a space to request a specific song as the last song of the night and originally my husband and I had planned to fill it. But as it got closer to the wedding, we completely forgot about filling that space. About 5 minutes before the last song, we realized we never gave him a specific song. Needless to say, my husband and I were both happier that we didn't request a specific song! It was the perfect song and created the most amazing ending to our big day. My husband and I were both like "This song is perfect" as we danced our last song together under the stars with all of our guests surrounding us. It was PERFECT. Tony So- where to begin! We are from California and had a destination wedding @ Turtle Bay Resort. Anyone looking for a DJ, destination wedding or not, knows how important a good DJ is. We had heard about him from other vendors, stalked his Instagram, did the whole investigation (lol) and the hype ... was all true! From the moment we emailed , tony was on top of it. We did our call with him and he was super chill and flexible with making our vision become reality for a good price! I didn't get a wedding coordinator (i knowwww) and Tony literally kept everyone on a schedule for us. Was on time! Had MC'd, and had everyone dancing all night. My wife and I started looking into a DJ about 2-3 months before our wedding date. We looked at some reviews on Yelp and found that "The DJ Hawaii" had some pretty solid reviews, no less than a 5-star rating. Little did we know that we were about to find out why. Shortly after looking into different options for the DJ, we scheduled a meeting with the man himself, Tony So. This first meeting helped Tony understand what kind of music we liked, as well as what we needed as far as our ceremony and reception. Tony made things easy for us by providing us with some outlines for the wedding day and worksheets for our music selection. As we got closer and closer to the wedding date, Tony helped us to get things organized for the ceremony (mics and music) and assured us that we would not have to worry about a thing. In addition to Tony's role as DJ, he provided uplighting for the ballroom, and a projector for our slideshow. Though he did not have to, Tony also helped us to keep the timing for the ceremony and reception as much on schedule as possible. His skills are also available for MCing. If at all possible, I do recommend having Tony MC for your wedding, as he will make the transitions from each of the different parts of the program so seamless, and keep your guests engaged. Tony also has a great relationship with a lot of different hotels and venues so they trust him and he will get you what you need. Usually, when the formal program for the reception is finished, that's usually when everyone starts to go home. When Tony started playing music to dance to, EVERYONE joined in. Even that one uncle that you thought wouldn't dance at all.. he did. Tony really knows how to work a crowd. He mixes the music so seamlessly and has the energy to keep your guests thoroughly entertained and excited. For our low budget wedding, our big splurge was definitely in hiring Tony So as our DJ and Emcee. Tony made our wedding stress-free, fun and memorable. If you are looking for a professional, funny and amazing DJ/ Emcee, Tony is your guy. When I first met Tony he told me that he had the ability to get people on the dance floor to dance. At first I was a little skeptical, because I've been to weddings, where people are often too shy to dance. SURPRISE! Our dance floor was packed! Even our grandparents were all dancing. Prior to the wedding: What I loved best about working with Tony was how quick he was to respond to every e-mail I sent. I always heard back from him promptly. On multiple occasions he actually initiated by checking-in to see if I needed any help or if I had any questions. Tony met with my husband and I multiple times to iron out our timeline, and provided us with a lot of useful tips and questions that he recommended we ask our vendors ahead of time. At our last meeting he ran through the timeline and script with us again, which put me at ease. I felt like I didn't have to worry about anything for my reception. He also provided us with excellent templates that helped to keep us organized throughout the planning process. He also recommended us to some great vendors, like Photobox. We felt very taken care of from our first meeting to just gain information about his services all the way to the end of our reception. Day of the Wedding: Tony was on-time for our wedding, and did an amazing job uplighting our ballroom. The best part of the night was his music choice. I loved that his dinner music, matched our taste completely (Colbie Caillet, Jason Mraz, etc). From meeting us, he really got a great sense of what mood we wanted to set. He definitely isn't one of those "showy" Emcees, that steals the show, but he kept our program moving perfectly. We didn't have to worry about any inappropriate jokes/comments, or unplanned speeches. Tony is amazing! I wish I could give him more stars since he totally made our wedding fabulous!!! My hotel events manager recommended Tony to us. He was a bit out of our budget since we did not plan to have a DJ but after contacting Tony he hooked us up with a great affordable rate within our budget! Not only is he extremely professional, genuine and amazing to work with but an overall GREAT GUY!! This guy knows his music! He doesn't play the typical cheesy crap you hear at most weddings, but a great selection of the music we liked! He took the time to get to know our taste in music and also wanted to make sure he pronounce our names and bridal party names correctly. I've been to so many weddings where the DJ butchers the families' and bridal party's names so it was reassuring that he cared about this important detail. He definitely got the crowd going and made our wedding one to remember! I would highly recommend Tony to all my friends and family. If you're considering a DJ for any event, go with TONY SO!!! DJ Tony So was AWESOME!! We've been to other weddings within the last few years, experienced one wedding with Tony, and decided to go with him because he was the best. We told him we wanted an upbeat wedding with people out of their seats and dancing on the dance floor and that's exactly what he delivered. He was a solid guy when we first met him before our wedding, worked well with us and our day-of coordinator, and absolutely killed it at our wedding. Many of our family and friends said we had the most enjoyable wedding and we think it was because of Tony's ability to captivate and entertain everyone.
