WOW - where do I even begin with how incredible Marcos and Toshi are?! I could truly write a novel. We just got married 2 weeks ago in a torrential downpour, and our venue basically flooded. Everything that could go wrong, did, but Marcos and Toshi SAVED OUR WEDDING. Most vendors would have given up on us and refused to show up in those weather conditions, but not Spectrum. They were there and ready with the most amazing attitudes and cheering everyone else on and keeping spirits high. We ended up having the most epic reception of all time, all thanks to them. Our friends and family are still in awe at what an amazing time they had - we all feel like we went to a music festival. Some of our friends even seriously thought that Marcos was Steve Aoki hahaha. He was such a good sport wearing the face gems and light up leis and scrunchies we had for our guests. I already know that at every future concert I attend, I will say that my wedding DJ team was better than that. They have so many special effects as well - cold sparks, LED screens, lighting, fog machines - we used all of it and it was AMAZING. We definitely recommend upgrading your package to everything they have, because it made our reception so memorable and special. After some research, I went with this entertainment company and am SO glad I did! They have great prices and Toshi is very responsive. For our wedding, Christian was our Emcee and DJ, and he is just a charismatic and overall fun guy :). They also did uplighting for me and projected a monogram that my husband and I chose. Who's THE BEST? Toshi!! We worked with Toshi for a few years, considering our wedding was initially planned for 2020, and then COVID happened. By the time our wedding was finally replanned for (the last time), we were all prepped and ready to go, many thanks due to Toshi! We had a Zoom chat with him 2 weeks before our wedding in late summer 2021 where we hammered out all the final details, and Toshi was extremely accommodating to work with. Very professional and fun at the same time! He made our wedding reception at the Four Seasons such a success, with all of the music we love, and kept everything on schedule. We had added headaches due to group size restrictions (thank you, COVID), and Toshi did his best to respectfully and tactfully keep the numbers of intermingling guests at bay, which is very difficult when your guests are 5 mai tais deep, lol. We also had a couple of last minute, unforeseen changes occur in the midst of our reception, and Toshi handled those like a pro. He and his team worked like crazy the entire night, but he made it look effortless. After the reception was in the books, he told us to come visit him when we return to Oahu for beers. My husband and I were on a major time crunch, because we went from having 11 months to plan our wedding to about 5! Toshi went above and beyond for our wedding!! We have interviewed a handful of DJs/MCs and decided to go with him due to his professionalism, warm personality, and also his amazing taste in music. During planning, we ran into a strict noise limit issue unfairly set by the venue outside of our contract. Toshi jumped on it and took the initiative to meet with the venue owner and even came up with a great back-up plan to rent silent disco headphones. TOSHIIIII! I wish we had more time with Toshi, who gave us the most amazing lighting and music during our reception! We didn't want the night to end due to all the energy he produced! My husband and I instantly liked Toshi from our first phone conversation with him. He was personable, experienced, and had the most adorable laugh. He gave us tips that no other DJs we had interviewed with had ever mentioned, so we knew we found the right person. We were so impressed with how proactive he was with everything, especially when our responses were incredibly slow. You know, wedding planning is not easy peasy lemon squeezy. Once he had his information, he would coordinate with our wedding coordinator, Nicole from Aulani and from what I heard, Toshi was detail-oriented with everything. I truly appreciated that because when it comes to lighting, design, and music, my husband and I are not well-versed. We felt SO comfortable with Toshi handling everything for us. The morning of our wedding, we needed to execute our emergency plan and without much guidance from us, as it was absolutely chaotic, Toshi was able to perfectly work with our new configuration for uplighting and DJ placement. Despite us saying our dance floor would be rather quiet, since we weren't the party type, our dance floor ended up being packed until the very last minute. Toshi kept the music going and synced the songs according to the groups of people on the dance floor. He is truly the DJ master! I have to also note that we upgraded to the cold sparks and that's an upgrade you should never compromise. GET IT! Cannot rave enough about how awesome Christian was during our wedding night. Toshi started the initial conversation with us and we had a face-to-face meeting with Toshi and Christian a week prior to the wedding to finalize the song list. They were incredibly receptive to our song choice and had everything we wanted. During the consultation, they also provided suggestions to songs and how to tailor our song choices to the wedding vibe, and it worked out perfectly! There were a lot of flexibility working with Spectrum. We had an ukulele player for our ceremony and they set her up with a mic and system to play on short notice. We also had an unexpected surprise hula dance, which Christian was very quick to provide the hula song accompaniment. We also had a dance-off, which Christian help facilitate to perfection...people loved it and it set the vibe for the entire night. Besides providing music as we requested, Christian was very perceptive of the crowd and was an excellent emcee who carried the energy all the way though the night. I believe he even tailored the dance music (which we provided a balance of slow and club music), to feed the energy of the crowd, which ended up being just full energy the entire rest of the night. It was an excellent call he made on his own and our guests love it. The lighting was an unexpected surprise. Had no idea they had cool lights along with the music. I planned majority of our wedding on my own and he was hands down my favorite vendor to work. He responded to my emails quickly, which helped a lot during the planning process. We only met once prior to our wedding, but it was more than enough. He followed up with us hours after meeting and even helped us fix our reception timeline to make the night flow better. Toshi and Christian did an amazing job with our wedding I am so glad that they were a part of it. From the very beginning they were very easy to communicate with and very collaborative in understanding what type of music we wanted as well as offering options for uplighting and dance floor lighting which added a beautiful touch for the night! We really appreciated their attention to detail in making sure they were fully tuned in to the wedding day timeline and pronunciation of names for the bridal party/speeches/etc. They really thought of everything and also allowed space for us to give input to make the whole experience what we envisioned. Both Toshi and Christian were just lovely to work with. Since Toshi had another wedding the same night, Christian was our DJ. Toshi was responsive and very on top of stuff. He helped us to keep our timeline of things that we needed to get done prior to the wedding while also being very laid back. When we met with both Toshi and Christian in person, they were on top of it and knew what they were talking about. I liked that they give us "homework" to give input the type of music we liked. We had a small package that included 6 hours, emcee, and 8 uplighting. It was perfect for our purposes. Christian did a good job of emceeing, and my dad thought he was funny. Christian was also very professional. He was always very thoughtful and brought us drinks, like when we were taking group pictures. Christian also did a great job of taking our input on the music. When we said that we wanted music that was popular in the late 2000s since that was when were in high school, he definitely gave us what we asked for. We were very happy with his music selection. This cable company stinks! JUST KIDDING! Poor Toshi and Spectrum Entertainment now can get mistaken for the subpar cable company that tons of people have problems with. :( Ever since the first day we met Toshi, we have had amazing things to say about him. I personally am more comfortable going with companies that have great communications skills and as much attention to detail that I have. He was very patient in answering all of my questions (trust me, there were alot) and understanding when having to explain something to me in more detail. Our reception was outdoors at one of the Kualoa Ranch sites that has this beautiful monkeypod tree that I fell in love with. Spectrum Entertainment does uplighting and, lo and behold, in his portfolio, Toshi had THE tree and it looked magnificent. I honestly didn't even consider uplighting to be something we would look for in our DJ and even expected to hire a separate MC. He explained all the services that he provides and was willing to work with us on pricing while still ensuring that we understood the quality of sounds and lights that we would be paying for. We had a few consultations with him (including an initial "interview" session) and he has the ability to make everyone around him feel comfortable. We seriously felt like we knew him forever and his personality had so many traits of our good friends that we swore we must have crossed paths with him one way or another. Other MC's we interviewed seemed to BE the center of attention and, although we are a couple that doesn't prefer the spotlight ourselves, we knew that that's not what we were looking for. Toshi explained (and executed) that he was NOT the center of attention or dominate the program and could make the program iself the focus if we weren't comfortable having it on us. That's exactly what he did. He worked with our planner and me on the timeline and carefully went through the pronunciations of each name. We had our grand entrance by boat and he timed our entrance perfectly with his announcements. His DJs handled editing and looping the music well and he followed the timeline exactly as it was written. The wedding party that had the itinerary commented how everything was perfect, down to the minute, and flowed very well together. We were doing table pictures prior to the tables heading to the buffet line and in between pictures Toshi was running up to us with our glasses of water! How amazing is that kind of service?! He constantly checked up on us throughout the night to see if we needed anything. I mean, wow!! The weather slightly prevented the proper lighting for our trees (because of flooding) but Toshi explained to us what he did with the extra lights and where they were placed. I honestly wouldn't have noticed but he made sure that I was in the know at all times. And if there was anything that people would bring up randomly these two weeks past the wedding, was the music. Toshi was very detailed in asking about music that I listed down and got a better idea by asking for a few samples of each. HE. NAILED. IT. The dance floor was packed from the time dancing started to the last song (about an hour and a half). I chose old school music for dancing but at one point I noticed the numbers of adults started dwindling slightly off the dance floor. Then he played this song that I've never even heard of (and didn't know how to dance to, HAHA!) and wanted to ask what that darn rap kind of music was... but then I noticed that all my nephews and nieces that were in elementary and high school came onto the dance floor! Seriously my jaw almost dropped because they were the "cool kids" that I didn't even expect to take any part in the reception, let alone dancing! From there he did a good mix of old school and today's hits that kept the littles AND the olds on the dance floor. Talk about knowing his sh*t. I had been planning this huge Quincñera for my daughter for over a year. As you can imagine as time approached I figured I have all vendors in place, I'm good to go.....boy was I surprised!!! The attention to detail that Toshi provides is SPECTACULAR to say the least. We met to discuss the details. Which I honestly thought...ok I'm just gonna let him know what I want him to play at the party and be done in like 20 minutes. No not at all....Toshi took his time at our meeting to really get a run down of the festivities, it was important for him to capture exactly what we were trying to create (as Quinceñera's are not popular here), and accommodated to emcee the ceremony. I really never thought how much thought we needed for music until we met and discussed the whole run down of the event. Toshi was so accommodating requesting a list of songs, music genera's, suggested lighting that made the room breath taking and the final song of the party. That really never crossed my mind...FINAL SONG?! Toshi not only comes to play music...He will ensure that your event runs smoothly. I gave him a run down of program, he made announcements, emceed the ceremony, accomidate music requests and ensured that we ended our party on a high note!!! Tried getting a hold of this company for a week now. Left 3 voicemails, 2 emails, and even a message on instagram. Horrible response rate and impossible to reach anyone. All you get is voicemail with no returned calls. I was really looking forward to booking Toshi from the great reviews I read. Very disappointed. Now your emailing me asking to remove my comment? Lol. Your saying you were out of the office for a week but it took 3 weeks to respond. I find it hard to believe you dont have a work email that you can access while mobile. Someone who relies on clients for business should have access to a phone and email at all times. At least a 72 hour reply time. Im glad you never responded though because I had the pleasure of hiring dj neekz and he was incredible. It also took 4 months to respond to this comment? Toshi and his team hands down MADE our wedding reception! We had multiple changes due to Covid (venue and guest count to name a few) but Toshi was so understanding and flexible through everything - even the last minute changes. He was our DJ/MC and took care of our uplighting, audio for our live entertainment during cocktail hour, and ran a video on a projector at the start of dinner. He was very attentive and professional in our conversations leading up - making sure the timeline and song choices would be in line with our vision. We trusted him fully to execute the evening and it went better than we imagined. His MC style is a perfect mix of laid-back and energizing and he has a great ability to read the energy and keep the flow of the night moving (and on time) without feeling rushed. Same for his DJ style - he kept the dance floor full all night with everyone from our friends, to parents, to the kids. We heard from so many guests how much fun they had dancing and had multiple friends ask for his info for their future weddings. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Toshi and truly feel that we owe how much fun and little stress we were able to have at our wedding reception to him. We weren't sure where to start for our DJ vendor, but our wedding coordinator highly recommended Toshi to us. She not only suggested him as our DJ but said he's an amazing emcee and lighting genius too. After our first call with Toshi, we decided to move forward with him and boy were we happy we did! Toshi's not only organized and knowledgeable, but is very personable and has great energy. Not to mention, super responsive via email. He discussed all options with us and let us know that he preferred to also be our emcee. Although I was very hesitant about using someone we didn't know as our emcee, it really ended up being our best decision! Toshi has this crazy ability to read a crowd and keep their attention. He had wedding appropriate jokes and really played off of our guests to create such an enjoyable atmosphere for all age groups! And I was very thankful we didn't have any awkward moments! Well, let's be honest, there were a few close calls, but Toshi smoothed it all out! :) And did I mention his lighting skills?? We had 24 uplights and let me tell you, they were all worth it! Toshi and his crew were absolutely one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. It was tough because we were a COVID couple, rescheduled our wedding multiple times. We are so glad he was available for our actual wedding day. He has a very informative consultation with you, gets to know you as a couple, and what you vision is like for your wedding. He is not only a DJ but also can be your emcee, and offers lighting and other technical rental stuff too. He was extremely helpful with helping us plan lighting around our outdoor event too, which I didn't even think about until he inquired about it. Most importantly, he is such a humble and down-to-earth guy. We had complete trust in him. And most impressive, was that I had created my own playlist of songs for our dinner reception, but instead of just playing straight from my playlist, he created a hybrid playlist with his own selections, and WOW I was blown away, it was even better than I could've ever created for myself. He is very well versed with music and we are so grateful he spent the time to get to know us so that everything media on our wedding day was just perfect. Overpromised & Underdelivered I just made a review on Awesome Weddings by Holli, who ruined our wedding. This review is for Spectrum and Toshi Nakasone - our second big disappointment on our wedding day. Here is why: 1. Poor communication. I should of listened to the bad review on Yelp. It was impossible to get ahold of Toshi few days before the wedding. I was sure we were suppose to meet up on site during the wedding rehearsal. Me and my wedding coordinator emailed, texted and called Toshi but he was nowhere to be found 3 days before the wedding. I didn't know if he just dumped us. Then, he finally called after my email saying that if he doesn't get back to us, we will have to find another DJ/MC. 2. He could care less. My wedding coordinator created a 1 hour delay for the reception and consequently for the whole wedding program. Toshi didn't care to let us know of this disaster and to make some changes ASAP. He said "it was not his responsibility". 3. Boring and low mood wedding atmosphere. Instead of the promised upbeat, fun and high energy. He never interviewed us to get to know us, so he can connect with our guests. 4. Unprofessional. He couldn't even get the names of our parents right, asking what their names were while we were sitting there at the sweetheart table. 5. Poor organisation. Although the program timeline was created together with Toshi, we never got the final discussion of the timeline before the wedding. And this was because Toshi was vacationing and impossible to get in touch with. My emails were not given proper attention, he just didn't see the files attached at the end of the email. That's why he wasn't prepared on the wedding day. 6. Bad DJ. Was it so hard to follow simple instructions and start/stop the music on the exact time I previously provided? Our father-daughter and mother-son songs both stopped at the wrong time. Our first dance song started before we even started walking to the dance floor. I had to make a sign and get them start the song again when we were ready. The excuse? Toshi said that his assistant is trained to start the music right after his announcement. 7. Wrong hashtag. That was the "cherry on top". How hard it is to again follow the previously provided instructions and read the hashtag right? Well he said the wrong hashtag and some of the photos were marked wrong by our guests. This kind of stuff just pisses you off. 8. Way too expensive for what you get. Our package cost us $2,800. To make it fair though, there were good sides too: 1. Toshi Nakasone is a very good salesman. He made a great impression on us, so great that we cancelled other appointments with vendors and chose him. He even brought the littler gift to our first meeting. Also, we were impressed by so many good reviews on Wedding Wire and Yelp. 2. The sparkles effect looked good. 3. He admitted his faults, although for each and every point he had an excuse. However, his biggest excuse apparently was that our wedding was already ruined by our wedding coordinator, so his "little" faults here and there were "no biggie". Yeah, not know our parents names on the day of is a "no biggie"? He even offered a $1,000 discount, which we REFUSED to accept. There is nothing that can make it up to us. All in all, Spectrum Entertainment by Toshi Nakasone is definitely NOT worth the money, especially as an MC. read more

My husband and I have nothing but great words for Toshi and Spectrum Entertainment! We are from Washington state and we had a destination wedding in Hawaii. We planned everything from Washington state. Our wedding was on January 16, 2019 at Paliku Gardens at Kualoa Ranch. Communication: I had no issues with communication with Toshi. All communication with him was through facetime, phone call and email. I initially contacted him through Yelp and received an automatic response to my email that explained he would be out of the office and would have limited access to his email. He did provide a phone number in the email for people with urgent matters. With that said, once he was back in his office, Toshi eventually contacted me with a very detailed email. From then on, communication was effortless! He provided a music template for my husband and I to fill out. The template was very helpful as it was used to prepare us for our facetime consultation with him. During our facetime consultation, we informed Toshi of some of the artists we like and the type of mood we were aiming for and with that, he was able to suggest other artists and music that really coincided with our vibe. My husband and I felt very comfortable trusting Toshi to make some music selections for our wedding. Professionalism: Just like it states in another comment, Toshi was very professional but laid back, which, my husband and I loved! Toshi followed our timeline very well. He had it in his hands most of the time and I saw him referring to it a lot, which was great since our wedding coordinator was not very helpful in that area. Toshi did everything a DJ/MC should do plus more. He really took care of us. I WANT TO SPECIFICALLY POINT OUT...during the start of dinnertime, our caterers brought our plate of food to our table. I was getting ready to eat but then my husband suggested we take group photos with everyone before they headed to the buffet line. I agreed but all I could think about was how all the flies were going to get on our food while we were away from it. About a minute later, I saw Toshi running down to our seats with two plates in his hands. I thought to myself, "Oh good, he is going to get some food for himself...but why he is running in the opposite direction of where the food is?" A couple seconds later, I turn around and see that he covered our food with the plates so that the bugs wouldn't get on them because he knew we were going to take group photos before eating!! My husband and I were so impressed by his gesture and appreciated the thoughtfulness so much. My husband and I kept talking about him the whole night and after the wedding, as well. Lastly, I had a slideshow to play during dinner. I was told by Toshi that all I needed to bring was my slideshow on my own laptop and he would provide all of the wiring to connect my laptop to his projector. Turns out, according to my sister-in-law, the laptop I brought was not a laptop at all. The "tablet" that I brought did not have an HDMI connector, which presented a problem to Toshi but he told me not to worry and told me to continue enjoying my wedding. He told me he would figure it out. Somehow, Toshi and my sister-in-law worked their magic. I am not a tech person so from what my sister-in-law told me, it sounded pretty complicated but even if it was not, Toshi never made me feel worried even though my sister-in-law said that he was! For that, I thank you Toshi!! =) Overall, my husband and I felt very taken care of. Also, after the wedding I found out that Toshi helped figure out some issues with our dessert table. The person who made my cake said she was very appreciative of Toshi's help. I do not know exactly what he helped out with but just knowing that our DJ helped out with a "dessert table issue," blew my mind. Toshi took pictures with us, partied with us and even danced with us a little. By the end of the night, he felt more like a friend to us than our DJ/MC/Wedding coordinator. read more

I've now attended and helped plan two events (birthday parties) where Toshi (the owner of Spectrum DJ's) provided the lighting, sound system, DJ and emcee services. The lighting and sound systems are of top quality, and his lights are great for all types of parties. He provides both uplighting (commonly used at weddings), along with moving spotlights that are great for dance parties or concerts. The sound system blasts crisp and clear music, and the sound system is great for both indoor or outdoor events. Toshi is a great DJ and can mix any kind of music that you want for a party. The best part about working with Toshi is that he is very helpful and eager to help you achieve whatever you want for the event. He pays close attention to detail, and he is always happy to modify anything you want in order to make you happy with the lighting or music. Toshi is also a very entertaining emcee, as he is very friendly and personable but doesn't overdo it on the talking. He's good at getting people to dance and keeping the party environment lively and fun. Toshi is also very professional from the moment you contact him (even if it's just inquiring about prices/services), and he's easy to reach through phone or email. He'll always make sure everything is planned out before the event, and he will usually meet with you at some point before the event to go over the timeline of the event and to discuss what you want in terms of lighting/sound/music. DJ Toshi was amazing from the get-go :) I was looking for a DJ for my wedding and found Toshi through one of my friends! So I setup a meeting with him and it was awesome. He was very helpful and easy going through our entire meeting. He gave me a general program outline of how the wedding night could flow (which was soooo helpful) and how the music choices dictated the mood of the evening. He definitely knew what he was talking about and thus helped me create my first wedding timeline! DJ Toshi's equipment is top-notch! There are different packages to choose from, usually based on size of venue and number of guests. And he also has lighting effects should a couple want to have that choice as well! The day of our wedding was a whirlwind...when my husband and I finally arrived to the reception venue after taking our pictures with our photographer, the music and uplighting was just ON POINT. What I had asked for and what was delivered was way beyond our expectations...and you could see it in the way our guests were enjoying themselves :) And DJ Toshi is a GREAT EMCEE!!!! If you ever are scrambling do not worry!! He is a natural with the mike and gets everyone up and excited when necessary!! I was planning a wedding for my good friends in HNL and needed a DJ that will work with our budget. A friend refer me to DJ Toshi and I set up a phone meeting with him from SF. First impression over the phone...Toshi was awesome, full of suggestions, and most important...He was listening and acknowledge me and my client's need and was willing to work with our budget. Day of wedding. Of course just like most wedding, the set up time was limited. Toshi was prompt and on time for set up and tear down. He knew that we were on a super tight budget and could not add on any extra special lighting feature. Toshi when above and beyond comp. the extra special lighting feature at no cost. I would highly recommend using Spectrum Entertainment for any event, especially a wedding! Two weeks before my destination wedding I found out my wedding planner had not actually booked our DJ. Look no further than here folks. Toshi is the real deal. We had him be the DJ and Emcee for our Wedding Reception, and he also handled the audio for the ceremony. Although we had a rain hiccup that resulted in him having to pause our ceremony (the right call for safety reasons), he made sure that he was in communication with our wedding coordinator and got us back and running soon after the rain stopped. He's got a super chill personality that anyone will warm up to, and a positive attitude, so much so that after the rain stopped he was helping the other wedding coordinator and venue people to help wipe the seats down so they weren't wet. Now to the fun stuff--DJ and Emcee at the wedding reception. He was professional and fun at the same time. Some Emcees try to be over the top funny or excessive with their comments, which most of the time gets people to roll their eyes and look at their neighbor wondering who this goon is. But he kept it short when needed, but added a light-hearted comment here and there to spruce things up. We had some special requests during the reception and he rolled with the punches like a pro. His DJing? On point. I'm not the type of person who hires a professional DJ and then tells him what to play or how to DJ. As such, even though he asked us for songs to play at our reception cocktail hour and dance music, we gave him a list but told him that he can choose to play or not play all of them and we won't hold it against him--we trust his judgement to change the music or flavor at any time because he's the professional! Nevertheless, the list helped him get an idea of the style of music we wanted to get down to, and he nailed it. All of our friends who were at the reception told us that DJ Toshi killed it and was the best DJ they've had. Oh, and did I mention that he did it big for about 2.5 hrs of dancing?! Loved it. All that said, the life of the party is usually hinged upon the bride and groom participation, so make sure you two get down on the floor and work "dat ass!" Lastly, don't forget that we had him as part of our destination wedding. He was very responsive in e-mail and met with us in person a few days before the wedding when we landed in Honolulu to make sure we were all on the same page. Holy moly. I don't leave a lot of reviews but Toshi is not just an amazing DJ, MC and sound guy, he is one of the nicest people ever. We hired him to do our wedding after hearing he was a good choice. The entire time leading up to it, he was super responsive, cooperative and thoughtful in the kind of music we wanted. I wanted a chill/oldie/soulful music type of vibe for our wedding and he delivered 10-fold. I even threw him some super vague descriptions of the kind of vibe I wanted and honestly he was able to figure out what I was talking about and everyone said the music was just perfect. Aside from the tunes, he was SUCH a good MC. It's always tough just choosing an MC blindly when you haven't experienced them. Sometimes they are too cheesy or sound like they are a 1990 wedding DJ but Toshi's calm but assertive energy and professionalism really held the reception together like a glue. I can't wait to see him again in other venues. 10/10 would hire him again for literally any function/gathering. read more

The best part, you capped off the evening with that same Jess Glynne song as the last-dance. You used our theme song and made it memorable. Third, you were able to accommodate all those requests from our friends and guests, hula dancers, and Estee Longah. You had prepared an awesome playlist based on our song preferences, yet you still played all of our requests from the 80s-90s-00s. (Yes, we grew up with Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys!)
