Five stars for advancing the nursing profession knowing you will take personal attacks for upsetting the medical monopoly! I appreciate bold clinicians who do not do the easiest thing, but rather speak up and create positive change. This clinical doctor is taking the heat for claiming her hard earned title just as dentists, chiropractors, audiologists, veterinarians, podiatrists, and medical physicians have done for decades. Advanced practice nurses have proven outcomes to be as good, if not better than physicians, at a better price, with the higher satisfaction rates (above even clergy, school teachers, police and certainly physicians). A provider who is clear about her credentials and fearless in using her hard earned title is exactly the type of provider I want caring for me because this provider will advocate for me, as her client, as well. She will trust that I can be educated in the changes of modern medicine and engage in the informed consent process. I will be a respected partner and an active participant in my healthcare with mutual decision making a high priority. Advance practice nurses who are doctorally trained should not be victim to manipulation or oppression by physician colleagues, and neither should healthcare consumers. read more
