My dog absolutely loves going to The Dog House. She will typically go once a week or so for daycare. She does a happy dance in the car when we start to get close, and happy cries whenever the workers meet her at the front door. It's absolutely precious. She literally will run to the door where they let her back and wait until they let her in. My dog is a huge baby and can get overwhelmed. Whenever she's nervous she will literally come to me and want me to hold her like a child. The fact that she runs to the door practically jumping out of her skin out of pure excitement (instead of cowering next to me) speaks volumes. She LOVES the staff. Speaking of the staff, I'm pretty sure they know every dog by name and it blows my mind. But you can tell they truly love their job and all the pups they get to be with. On top of everything else - this is our first daycare where the dogs are out playing all day. We've been to others where they have "rest time" in the kennels. It's 100% worth every penny to me that my dog is constantly playing. She's a 3 year old border collie that needs all the playtime she can get and more. Highly recommend!! read more

This spot is not safe for anyone. I see no safety precautions regarding covid-19. I requested them to wear masks when we visit. They refused and disregard customers' safety. There is no social distancing, hand-sanitizing, and so many more. The spot is pretty small for large and medium-sized dogs. It's unfortunate that they do not value customers and dogs' safety. We have a 1.5 yr old golden retriever who absolutely loves going to doggies daycare at the dog house. In the morning on work days he will sit by the front door whining and won't eat breakfast because he is so excited to go to daycare. The staff of very friendly and helpful. It has been so wonderful to watch the new owners really take pride in the business and spending the time and money to improve the facilities!!!! Not only do my furbabies LOVE The Dog House, but my boyfriend and I do too! They get all their energy out and we don't have to worry about them while we are out and about. We have been bringing our little German shepherd/cattle dog mix puppy here about once a week for the past two months and we let our two year old German shepherd try it out for the first time today! Our puppy, Oko, starts bouncing around in the back seat as soon as we pull into the drive because he is so excited! The employees always remember his name and they greet us both with a smile. Even just a half day of fun tires Oko out. Although, he loves spending the whole day at daycare too! We waited to bring our German shepherd, Luna, until today because she is a dominant dog and we worried she might not do well with so many other big dogs around. The staff did such a great job slowly introducing her to the other dogs and making her feel safe. While I observed through the online cameras, I could tell that she was having a great time! The staff clearly loves dogs and treats all of their furry visitors as their own. On top of that, the ten day package deals are much better than any of the other doggy daycares around! $120 for ten half-days (up to 5 hours) and $180 for ten full-days. Took my dog to here for the weekend. They never told me that he was going to be the only dog, all by himself and left unsupervised all night. He escaped his cell at night and they charged me a total of $200 for the 24 hours he was there to "cover his damages" and left me scrambling to find someone to pick him up when I was out of town since they were kicking him out. There would not have been any damages if 1) they told me he was going to be all alone 2) they had adequate facilities meant for dogs 3) they supervised him. He's a normal dog that's been at many different boarding facilities and has never had any problem. They refused to take accountability of their poor facilities and lack of supervision. read more

I found out about The Dog House from their website. Their website says they charge $28/night for boarding, and I thought it was a deal. During the scheduling process, I told them that I wanted my dog boarded for one night and that I would be picking him up before close the following day. Everything was set up, and when I arrived to drop my dog off I was completely shocked to read on their door that they charge an additional $18 for pick-up after noon! At no point when I made the reservation did they ever mention this charge! It makes boarding $46 for ONE night! I asked to talk to the manager, which was a surly guy who kept interrupting me and telling me I needed to "hear him out so he could explain why he charged what he charges". Dude, I don't care how you justify ripping people off. After having a less than professional experience with the manager I took my dog and left. I wouldn't trust that place with a plant, no less a dog. The guy was rude, and the facility smelled bad and was eerily dark (literally, there wasn't a light on in the place.) Thank goodness my favorite boarding facility that is professional and forthcoming had availability. Our dog started refusing to get out of the car when we dropped him off. He is a quirky German Shepherd so I did not think much of it. But..I think there may have been a reason why he hated it there. I worked at The Dog House in Englewood for 2 years, I started there fresh out of high school and worked my way up to general manager. I was general manager for a year. Understand that this was the best job I've ever had, it lead me to pursue my passion and make a career out of caring for animals. But this was also one of the worst jobs I've ever had. The owner Jeff Sizemore, as mentioned in other reviews, is a very crude and disrespectful man. But behind the curtain of customer/owner relationship, he is also very greedy and holds no care in his heart for the well being of your dogs. He said himself that in 2001 he saw the profit he could make and bought his business solely for the money. The reason that I am speaking up, is that over the course of my employment, and the reason that I left, I could count far too many health code violations, safety violations, and upfront breaking of the law. HIS CUSTOMERS HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW THIS. Almost never were they staffed 15 dogs to 1 person. Often 60 dogs were being watched by two or three people, which was one of the major causes of fights at The Dog House. The walls behind the white plastic that you see, are covered in mold, and Jeff Sizemore refused on two occasions to do anything about it. The kennel gates for their boarders are bent and broken, causing sharp metal edges that the dogs cut themselves on. One dog even got her head caught between the drain and the concrete brick above it. She was suffocating for who knows how long and the fire department had to be called in the morning to free here. Jeff Sizemore will tell you that the dogs are monitored 24/7, but from 7pm-6am the dogs are alone, unwatched, and unmonitored in the kennels. The concrete that the dogs walk on in the yard is laid on top of old wire fencing that pokes through and can cut your dogs feet. The fences surrounding the facility are not secure and on several occasions they have had dogs escape. More often than not the big dogs and little dogs are intermingled with little to no regard for the dog itself. And all of this, myself and previous general managers have lied to you about. Because we were told by Jeff Sizemore that it was Proper Business. It isn't. Every employee at the Dog House applied because they love animals and they love to provide their care. The Staff Is Amazing. You will not find a more tight knit crew, nor people that care about every little thing that your pet does, as the Staff at the Dog House does. But when it comes to the safety of your pet, they can repeat the same thing over and over to Jeff Sizemore and he still will not change. I tried for months to improve the facility and to no avail. It pained me to leave the Dog House because of the dogs I fell in love with and the customers I developed life long relationships with, but I could no longer stand by such a corrupt business owner. Our dog was the one caught in the drain! First of all I'd like to say she had been going for almost 4 years and boarded many times. Separation anxiety was not the issue! Second they never ever contacted us to see how she was even though she never returned. Her neck was so swollen for almost two weeks that she couldn't wear her collar and hides and afraid to even go outside. She loved going there and staff in the beginning seemed to really care about the dogs. Lately I've seen a extreme difference. The girl checking in was very nice. However, my daughter took her labradoodle to boarding for three days and he came back with cracks in his paw pads and was limping. After a 62.00 trip to the vet, the vet said to not take him back and was surprised they did not have fake grass. We have to keep him on soft surfaces for two weeks for his pads to heal. I love this place. I am one of those overly protective, worry about everything pet owners. When the holidays roll around and it's time to board the dogs, this is the place we go. Last Christmas I completely forgot to book a place for our 2 dogs to stay when we were going back home for Christmas. I called every place in town and everyone had a waiting list. When I called these guys, a week and a half before the 25th, they said they were pretty full but would take our dogs. My husband downloaded an app on my phone and I was able to check up on the dogs and see them on all the webcams. I even called just to check up on them and they were really nice. Our dogs have stayed here numerous times, the prices are about as average as any boarding place is going to be, but I like the facility, the staff, and I defiantly feel safe knowing my pets are there for extended amount of time. read more

I took my pup there last week and she seemed to love it, they have cameras. I also enjoyed how easy they were about coordinating things. They told me drop off was at 7 am and pickup was by 7 pm. I arrived at 6:30 am to drop off and was so impressed that they were open and took her early. They said dropping her off at 6:30 was no problem. Bottom line, my puppy came home tired with a full report card (she swam in the pool) and they are by far the most reasonably priced place I have found. Multiple staff walks about cleaning frequently but never speak, touch, or interact with dogs. My dog was traumatized by being shunned by people. I do think it was a clean facility and well organized. Absolutely terrible, staff is nice and caring but the owner does not care at all, I worked here for about a month and could not handle the horrible boarding conditions. The place is gross, dirty, and when boarding your dog they give you the equivalent of a jail mattress 2x2 plastic pad with no blanket. I started bringing my Border Collie puppy here in December. He only goes about once or twice a month, mostly when it's too cold for him to be outside all day. They remember him, calling him by name without me having to remind them. He senses where we're going when we're several blocks away and starts getting very excited in the car. I love that I can leave him here all day, and some nights, and I don't have an ounce of worry. I love the webcams where I can check up on him occasionally, and the staff is incredible and friendly. We had a trial day and my dog loved it. You can get camera access to the place so I was basically watching my puppy all day from work. ;) They have people cuddle and pet the dogs from time to time. By farrrr my favorite doggy daycare! All the girls who work there are so sweet and know my dogs by name. I especially love this place because it's never too overwhelming with the capacity of dogs unlike a lot of the doggy daycare chains. My 90 pound pup is always nervous going in, but they definitely took the time to give him extra attention and make him feel comfortable and it definitely shows in his behavior! I recently took my new, 15 week old puppy to board with them and they started her out with the small dogs, and then slowly introduced her to the big dogs and she did great. We have used them 4 times in the past year and have had satisfactory results with exception to the last couple of times. We had the heat wave here in June this year and my dog suffered for days after we brought him home with burnt feet. His hips were also very sore to the point where he struggled to get up from a laying position. Normally our 1 1/2 year old dog has tons of energy but was in pretty rough shape. I called them after I discovered this and they said that the cement and rocks in the yard were hot. Well yea! It was 100 degrees for a few days in a row!!! I didn't want to use them again and tried to send my dog to another place for the holiday weekend but they were booked so I ended up at the Dog House again, and they said they would keep him mostly indoors so I agreed. This time I noticed a new Man at the front desk (Could be a new owner) acted bothered and very rude. I questioned the bill after my dog was there for 5 nights because there were some extra charges that I was not informed of, but I understood. After paying up he turned away from me and started talking to his staff and I said thank you 3 times to him since he ignored me and he would not even make eye contact with me. Really? just for asking a question about my bill.... In parting I will say good luck to you in the future because you will need it with that arrogant unkind attitude that doesn't have enough sense to bring dogs in out of the heat that can cause injury. read more

I have been taking our dog India to Dog House for several years for daycare and boarding and they have always been amazing, but my recent experience made me truly grateful to their staff. India was there for boarding while we took a short trip out of the country, and she began experiencing diarrhea and blood in her stool. They were immediately concerned and called my emergency contacts, who then were able to contact me. Because we were out of the country I contacted Dog House via email and they quickly responded, contacted my vet, and went above and beyond by not only taking a stool sample to them but also picking up some medication for our dog after it was prescribed. I can't express enough how much this means to us. Our dog is a senior (12 years old) and they always treat her with great care, know her name as soon as she comes in the door and I love the ability to check on our baby via the webcams. It gives us such great peace of mind to know our girl is in such caring hands when we go out of town, or even leave her to play for the day. Thank You! read more

We just moved to the area and are so happy to find a dog boarding facility close by that our dog likes. We had to make a sudden trip home and in just a few days they let us do the trial so we could board her that weekend. When we came back, everyone knew her name and you could tell she was really loved. I like that this place isn't huge so your dog isn't going to get lost in the mix. They can even give your dog a bath on the same day with no appointment! Great prices, super friendly staff, clean facility and a happy dog! I love this place and so does my dog, Murphy. They have a great staff who is always very friendly and know and recognize all of their regulars (even semi-regulars like us). We bring Murphy every other week or so when we know we won't have time to let him out during the day and he absolutely loves it. Their outdoor area is huge - much bigger than most of the other daycares we looked at - and it is right next to a park which isn't a huge deal but it just makes the overall feel of the place nicer (compared to the daycares in the middle of industrial districts or right next to major roads). The best part of The Dog House however is their prices. They are by far the cheapest daycare and boarding I've found period. If you buy a package (which won't expire) you can get daycare at $15 a day. They also offer $10 daycare every Monday making it extremely affordable. Boarding is only $23 a night and the dogs are given large kennels with windows. We've left Murphy there overnight a few times and I feel good knowing he is getting to play all day and is spending the night in a comfortable kennel where he has room to move around and stretch. The only downside (which wasn't enough for me to take a star away) is the fact that the webcam only works on PCs, so if you have a Mac you don't get to check in on your dog while he's at daycare. Other than that though, everything about this place is awesome. read more

It was decent and the owner was very understanding and refunded me for a package once I no longer needed to board my dog because she overcame her separation anxiety. However, recently after not having used the facility in over a year I received an email from a former employee raising concerns about the care they provide for dogs. Even if "The Dog House" is out-of-the-way for you it is worth the extra effort to take your dog/dogs there. I can't say enough wonderful things about this facility and it's staff! The staff is very welcoming, kind, and loving. Just go to their webcam and see all the love and attention they give the dogs, it's wonderful. They pick up the dog poop right away, they're constantly giving the dogs affection and they Genuinely Care about the dogs. Whenever I pick my dog up he is relatively clean (I mean he has been playing with dogs all day long, I don't expect him to be perfect). I have picked him up at some other doggy daycares and he's been covered in mud and his butt has been covered in poo. The facility is clean, reasonably priced and I love how you can buy a package, which makes it Really Reasonable. Another bonus is they offer half-day prices and half-day packages. This is great because there are days when I only want leave my dog for a few hours and do not want to pay for a whole day. If you are considering a doggie daycare please go and look at this place (it's actually out of the way for me). My alternate doggie day care is not bad and is much closer and more convenient for me but they do not have a webcam, have less space, no half day prices and offer no packages that make it much less. They also do not offer other services besides boarding. At "The Dog House" they offer many other services besides boarding and you can go to the webcam anytime and see your doggie. When I walk into the "The Dog House" I always have a good warm feeling. Therefore, unless there is a "time emergency" I feel that my dog is worth the extra effort to take them to "The Dog House" and would suggest the same to you and your doggie. I like this place a lot. They always recognize my dogs the instant we walk in the door and you can tell that they truly love dogs. They have last minute availability for boarding which is great because I travel a lot. The rates are fair and the facility is clean. They have webcams which is so nice; I can watch my dogs right from my iPad anywhere I go. The only downside is that the small dog indoor webcam has been down for over a month :( I emailed them when I was boarding in June and they said it would be fixed soon...still not fixed. My dogs love this place. My mom dropped them off and they couldn't be happier to be at The Dog House. The facilities are very clean and I feel safe leaving my dogs there. I didn't see any aggressive dogs, which is probably because there is an interview process (meeting the dog and seeing if the boarding environment is alright for them). My young adult dog took their trial today while I was at work. I checked the web cams a few times to see what he was doing. I dropped him off at 6 AM. Hadn't seen him outside a single time. To add to that, there were multiple times where no handlers were outside or other areas were unattended. I finally called to see what was happening. The gentleman who answered didn't seem to really care when I asked about our dog. He said our dog bit an employee and they would let him outside soon. I caught them red handed. My dog had been crated all day. We've trained our dog and socialized him since he was 3 months. He's high energy but is never reactive or fearful. I called again later to get a better understanding of what happened. Apparently, they had him in a transition room (not sure what that entails). According to the lady I spoke with, he didn't want to come out of the room so they tried to force him out by pulling him by the collar and he nipped at the employee. While I agree my dog shouldn't do this, I would say it is more important that someone who makes their living working with dogs should know how to treat and interact with dogs effectively. If a dog is clearly overwhelmed or overstimulated, forcing them into an area by grabbing near their neck is probably not the best idea. A leash or treat would have been better. I was then told I should consider training and socializing my dog. I have spent time doing this almost every day since I've had him. If you want your dog in a mosh pit with inexperienced and inattentive handlers, this is the place for you. read more
