We left our 1 1/2 year old golden doodle with the Doggie Chalet for 10 nights and we could not have been more confident and comfortable with the attention and care he would receive there. We have never been away from our dog Max ( usually he vacations with us) for more than a day or two, and so naturally we were a bit reluctant to kennel him for a week...we spoke to a few people and they said to look for a place that has a lot of open space so that Max can have a vacation too! For context my husband and I don't plan on having kids so our pup is an extra big deal in our lives. When it came time to leave him for the first time we really struggled to find a place we were comfortable with. We live in JC but expanded our search to all of North Jersey. Our dog is very social with both people and dogs so the idea of him being locked away and alone for our trip wasn't going to work for us or him. We truly spent two months visiting kennels, homestays, and dog hotels before finding the Doggie Chalet. When we took our pup for his "interview" Nick's knowledge of dog behavior immediately put me at ease. Adriana answered all of my questions and unlike other places we toured didn't make me feel crazy for being so concerned. When Nick came to pick up him up I'm sure he had a schedule to keep, but he paused and asked if we were finished saying goodbye before taking him. Little things like that showed me that they understood that they weren't just watching a dog, but caring for our family member. While we were away they posted loads of pictures to instagram so we could see him playing and relaxing in his home away from home. The Doggie Chalet has been caring for our redbone coonhound mix, Lucy, for close to 5 years, and we cannot imagine what she would do without them! She goes to daycare several times a week and also stays for boarding a few times a year, and we have never once worried about her. She was a timid rescue dog and has gained so much confidence as a result of her time with Nick and Adriana. She looks forward to the arrival of Nick to pick her up in the morning, and I think she secretly likes when we go away because she gets a vacation herself at The Doggie Chalet! A few days after posting my review about how horrifically my dog Henry was injured while under the care of THE DOGGIE CHALET this past July one of the owners,Adriana Bradley,had the nerve to call me to tell me today that what I wrote and described,in great detail about how Henry got so injured while under their care, was not true. I never got a call or had any contact with this place since August. Why now? Because I wrote an honest review of my experience???All Nick did,when I spoke to him several times during the crisis THE DOGGIE CHALET created in allowing Henry to get so seriously injured, was defend himself. Never once in all these months has either one of THE BRADLEYS reached out to me or my husband to see how Henry was doing. The last time I spoke to Nick was a few days after Henry was returned to me by Nick, crippled. We happened to be in the ER at AMC because Henry was in such pain he was whimpering and howling, just moving his head.I had just written Nick an email earlier explaining how seriously Henry was injured due to their lack of following my very detailed instructions on Henry's care and that I would be sending him all expenses we incurred and any future expenses to get Henry back in the shape he was in when I turned Henry over to Nick to care for him that fateful July 3rd morning.. So now I get a call from Adriana, not Nick who was at our home for over 45 minutes going over with us how Henry had to be cared for, arguing with me,or at least trying to,about how what I said in my review was untrue!!! All I can say is that I have the videos that clearly show that Henry was just fine when Nick Bradley took him from me on the morning of July 3, 2017. I have the pictures they themselves posted on their FB pages showing Henry with the pack and not in a quiet area with older more senior dogs, as repeatedly promised Henry would be by Nick Bradley during our in home visit and several phone calls. And I have all the many, many, videos I have taken from the day he was returned to us to this day on how much rehab and work Henry has had to do to get better. My documentation from his entire team of Specialists at The Animal Medical Center, from the Director Of Orthopedics at AMC to an entire team of Rehab Specialists including the Director of the Rehab Department at AMC, is very detailed. And so are all invoices for the thousands of dollars we have spent to get Henry back to where he was before Henry went to this place.THE DOGGIE CHALET did not live up to all they had promised us in how expert they are in taking care of Senior Dogs with Special Needs. Not by a long shot. They allowed Henry to do exactly what I explained they could not allow Henry to do. I asked Nick repeatedly if he was sure his facility could take on Henry and was repeatedly reassured that it would be no problem.As I said in my review. It is not hard to take care of Henry. He just needs to be kept from running around, climbing and rough housing with other dogs and he needs his meds,which are not rocket science to administer to him. All I can say is this. Don't add insult to injury. THE DOGGIE CHALET did not live up to what I was reassured they could handle in taking care of Henry. I have all the evidence to prove this. Do yourselves a big favor. Leave this alone now. Take your deserved medicine with this bad review and move on.I still say, SHAME ON YOU. It is a disgrace that you are contacting me now, after all these months, because I wrote an honest review of my experience with THE DOGGIE CHALET and how gravely injured you allowed my dog to get because you did not do as you promised. Adriana's call this afternoon,still trying to defend what happened to Henry, when all along you should have taken the responsibility for what you allowed to have happen, is only further indication to me that I made a very painful and costly mistake and Henry paid the highest price of all. I mean really, how unsympathetic and unfeeling can you both be!!! Again I say, leave this alone, take your well deserved medicine for the correct, bad review, in my opinion. I will not be commenting on this further. It has taken me months to be able to sit down and write the review because it brings back all the pain and suffering I had to see Henry go through and now more time writing in response to a very callous, selfish phone call from Adriana Bradley. Our dog Nikka just returned from her first stay at the Doggie Chalet and we were very pleased with Nick and Adriana. They both clearly love and understand dogs and seem to take excellent care of each and every pet staying with them. Their regular posts on Facebook and Instagram were very reassuring that Nikka was having a good time while we were away. They were also very accommodating with any special requests we had for Nikka's stay including a complicated food regiment and medication. During out Meet and Greet I was very impressed by the cage-free spaces available for the dogs and how they are able to group the dogs together by size, energy level, temperament etc. Plus, their M-F pick-up/drop-off service to the NYC area is amazing. We have a very smart and social puppy and we were very apprehensive after touring a number of chain kennels in our immediate area. We knew our dog might be safe, but certainly not happy in a concrete floored cage. Luckily, my wife discovered the doggie chalet and after a visit and tour I was incredibly impressed with both the premises and Nick & Adrianna. The location has a number of outside running areas for the dogs, was very well organized and impeccably clean. Nick & Adrianna are complete professionals and are obviously very experienced with dogs; it's clearly a family business and they care for the dogs staying with them. Thankfully Adrianna was able to squeeze our dog in for a 12 day stay at short notice. We were nervous about how our dog would do as this would be the first time away from home. He stayed in the house which was ideal for him as he got an opportunity to play with other dogs and be around people. We were regularly updated on social media with videos and pictures of our wee man having the time of his life playing with his new found friends at the chalet. I'm glad to say our pup was probably sorry to have to come home after the end of his vacation! We wouldn't think of sending him anywhere else - they offer pick up / drop off and a frequent flyer package. read more

When we ended up with a last minute need of dog boarding for over a week vacation, we were a little panicked. We had only had our energetic rescue dog for 6 weeks and after visiting a few chain boarding places we were worried he would not do well. Nothing but good things to say about Doggy Chalet. They picked him up and dropped him off dirty & tired (that's a good thing). And as they predicted, he slept for 2 days once he came home. He came home with no illnesses or bad habits. In fact, he slept later in the mornings and fell right into his usual routines. The 2 main reasons we picked Doggie Chalet was the open space he would have to run every day (he's part greyhound) and the fact that they post so many pictures and videos on facebook every day. Nick & Adriana run a wonderful crate-free dog boarding facility in the northern NJ countryside. Nick picks up our dog the day we leave for a vacation and drops him off the morning after we come home. While we're away we check in on their Facebook page to see photos and videos of all the dogs hanging out together. We love the 'sofa room' where all the dogs sleep. Our dog is typically very protective at home but Nick has one of those 'dog whisperer' personalities and truly leads the pack. We always get a happy and exhausted pup when he returns. They communicate quickly by phone, text, email, and they take credit cards. It simply couldn't be easier. read more

Nick and Adriana are the warmest, most wonderful people, and it is so reassuring to know that our favorite little pooch is staying warm and cozy in someone's home with all of his other little canine friends. Adriana went so far as to send us a Valentine from Cliff, while he was with them over Valentine's weekend. The best is that they pick up and drop Cliff off, making our lives even easier. Cliff comes back exhausted, but happy and excited to see us every time. After recently moving to Montclair from California, one of our main concerns was finding a cage-free boarder that lets our pooch roam and sleep wherever his little Cockapoo heart desires. Enter Doggie Chalet. Our dog loves it here, and Nick and his family treats him so well. My 2 dogs just returned from 2 weeks at this awesome "summer camp" for dogs. It was obvious they had a great time running around and playing with all the other dogs. They came home happy and pooped out from so much fun. I highly recommend the doggie chalet. The dogs are not put in cages but instead get to be outside playing. The pick up and drop off are really convenient and the price is very reasonable. I also liked that I could see them on Instagram since I missed them so much. We have been sending our dog, Layla, to The Doggie Chalet for over a year now and we literally don't know what we would do without them. After searching everywhere around Montclair and neighboring towns for a place to send our high-energy, sweet lab/border collie mix, we came up empty handed: either the business didn't take larger dogs or they were kept indoors all day, in and out of crates, or they wouldn't offer to pick our dog up. Both myself and my boyfriend work in Manhattan so a pick-up /drop-off service was essential. By chance, we spotted Nick's van outside our building one morning when he was picking up a neighbor's dog. We remember most that the dog looked really happy. We scheduled a meet-and-greet with our puppy at 'The Chalet' and we were sold. No cages, lots of time outdoors and lots of love and attention from a couple that simply love dogs. It is incredibly and unbelievably convenient - Nick picks our dog up before we leave for work and then drops her off at our apartment in the afternoon. We can't imagine ever sending our dog anywhere else and it gives us tremendous peace of mind that our dog is happy, playing, and in safe hands while we are at work. And the bonus is that they post photos and video on their facebook page for those puppy parents who are curious about what their dogs are up to! I do not trust anyone with my dog, except for the Doggie Chalet. If he is not with me and my family, he is with Nick Adriana and theirs. When I used to live in Montclair, Moe attended the Doggie Chalet every day for doggie daycare, but after moving to Jersey City, I still use Nick for boarding. They treat Moe like a member of their family, which is very important to me. Nick and Adriana are professional, flexible, and responsible. I landed on this page a couple months ago when I was researching places to board my dogs. I usually get suspicious of places with all 5 star reviews, but their services seemed to good to be true - no cages, outside for most of the day, responsive and friendly owners, and daily pictures while you're away. I really can't recommend Nick and Adriana highly enough. They bring the dogs in as family members - as someone who owns a 'scary' looking dog, it's an incredible feeling to see him hanging out with someone else's children without my supervision. Why would you pay for 'premium' packages like exercise or leaving the cage, when you have an option as good as this? Please, do yourself and your dogs a favor. When mine come back from this place, they're not only happy, but they are completely worn out from being in the pack all day. read more

The Doggie Chalet is the ONLY place that I would send my Jersey Boy to. They are professional and we enjoy being able to see our dog run with others on the webcam. Recently we discovered the wonderful benefit of the "doggie taxi" pick/delivery service. It was so convenient knowing that our dog would be driven safely back and forth. The new facility is large and allows the dogs to run and enjoy being part of a pack under professional supervision. Why would you cage your furry family member when you can send them to The Doggie Chalet and allow them to run free. We have a number of "dog spas" near us that CAGE the dogs at night - my dog will never be caged and the only place for him is The Doggie Chalet! read more

I have been using Nick and Adriana for the last 8 years and just love and adore them. I know that when my 2 pups spend time at the doggie chalet they are in good hands, Well taken care of, loved, fed, they get to play with other pups but are always supervised and watched over. It has always Been important for my that my dogs go to a place that is kennel- free, get outside, have fresh air, etc.. when we have to leave them for vacations.. when I had my first daughter 6 years ago and she was early, I called nick and he was able to accommodate us and watch my pup no questions asked, no stress or worry. I had to go out of town for a family wedding, and since my usual dog sitter (dad) was also going, I needed to find someone to take care of my dog. I have a senior dog that can be grumpy around puppies because he just wants to lounge around and hang out with people. It was immediately apparent that my dog would be in great hands after the meet and greet, Nick and his wife are very caring people and great with all of the dogs. My dog had an awesome time staying at this facility, and I was given peace of mind with frequent facebook updates of pictures and videos that showed him having fun and making doggie friends. I also loved that this place is completely cageless, and the dogs have 24/7 supervision. Like one of the other reviewers below, we found The Doggie Chalet when the place we planned to board our dog cancelled on us 4 hours before we were to leave on an international vacation. I was very nervous, but the situation could not have worked out better for us! Our then one year old Labradoodle was very well cared for by Nick and Adriana. Thanks to Nick posting pictures and videos to Facebook, we were able to "check-in" on our dog several times a day. It was so reassuring to see her running and playing with the other dogs. I love the cage free setting, and the drop off/pick up service made life so easy for me. She came home dirty and exhausted, as we expected, but I am so confident in their care of my "baby" that I will never use any other boarding service. We could not have been happier to have our two dogs, Oscar (11 yrs.) and Mack (1 yr.) stay there over the holidays. We had such a peaceful trip knowing that the dogs were well exercised and NOT put in crates. Our dogs came home so happy! They rested for days! Adriana and Nick have been taking care of our energetic golden doodle Lucy when we go out of town since we gave them a desperate, last-minute phone call after our boarding arrangements fell through on our honeymoon last year. I started sending my dog Riley earlier this year and I don't think he will ever let me stop! I work in NYC so days can be long for my pooch when he's home alone, and The Doggie Chalet has become the perfect fit for him! A previous neighbor of mine highly recommended Nick and Adriana's business. I thought I would give it a try. What a surprise? When I start getting ready for work my dog now waits by the door almost every morning awaiting Nick's knock. The best part about it is the pick up/drop off, their flexibility, and reliability. I send my dog twice a week. Sometimes the day before he's next scheduled to be picked I need to the days that week because something came up and The Doggie Chalet is always so accommodating. I had to live in a hotel for a few weeks earlier this year because of a water pipe bursting in the floor above my apartment and they were able to take care of my dog the whole time on short notice. While I was scrambling to find a place to stay, my dog was loving life at The Doggie Chalet. What I also love about it is the dogs get to socialize with each other and run around and just have fun. My dog loves to meet and and play with other dogs which makes this paradise for him. When I get home from work a day that my dog has been at The Doggie Chalet he is sleepy and just wants to relax(which is great because he's full of energy). It really gives them some great exercise and bonding time which is another added bonus! As mentioned in a previous review on yelp another added bonus is being able to see your dogs on video and in pictures enjoying themselves throughout the day. I book with the Doggie Chalet whenever I go out of town. Nick and Adriana are wonderful with my dog, Toby, and their facility fantastic. The first time I met Nick and saw his facility was by invite for an evaluation of Toby. Nick had Toby and I come into a small pen area to observe Toby interact with a few dogs. One of the dogs almost immediately tried to assert dominance by mounting Toby. Toby turned and growled in protest. I worried this behavior might be mistaken as anti social and Nick might not want to board my dog. My worries were quickly put to an end when Nick praised toby for vocalizing his dislike of the other dog's behavior rather than physically acting toward the other dog. It was this moment I suspected I had found the perfect boarder that shared my philosophy on caring for dogs. When Nick shared with me that he believes dogs should live in a pack rather than be separated in crates, I was absolutely sure this was the boarder for me. Even though Doggie Chalet is a bit far from me, I'm happy to pay a few extra bucks for pick up and drop off knowing Toby will be in good hands while I am away. read more
