I've been taking my Wee Angus to the Doghouse once or twice a week, since he was a pup (he's 6 yr old now). Although I've often thought of writing a review, I never got around to it but when I picked Angus up yesterday, I knew I had to tell anyone looking for a doggie daycare, what a special place the Doghouse is and how wonderful & caring the people who work there are. You can expect your doggie to have walks, play and cuddles, but on occasions like Halloween, you can expect the staff to go above and beyond and add another layer of fun to the day. My Wee Angus really loves coming here. I really appreciate the environment Christine (manager), Laura and Jenna have created for the doggies & the positive work environment they seem to have with each other. Our rescue Markus joined our family December 1, 2018, he was terrified of humans. During the day he has been going to daycare at The Doghouse. Every visit the first year he gained confidence, he has best friends, human and of course many dog buddies. Check out Instagarm and you will see Markus and all the dogs. He is so happy to attend and gets excited when we are a block away. The staff truly love the dogs and interact with them. When we pick him up we get updates, lately Markus is going on longer walks which is awesome. He is ready for quiet hang out time at the end of the day, having walked, played, napped and snacked. Staff never force him to walk, some days he is more quiet and just wants his pee breaks and short walks, other days he leads the pack. We reccomend The Doghouse 100% ! read more

Disclaimer: I have nothing against other daycare places for dogs, I'm simply endorsing this one because it met the needs of my little Chihuahua pup. Most places have about 3-4 different rooms for different sized dogs and sometimes according to the age as well. The downside about those places is that they are just one big room where dogs just roam around and are left to deal with each other with one staff checking on them from time to time. For larger dogs and those that have been adequately socialized this isn't a problem but it's not conducive for young puppies that need a more confidence-boosting environment. Enter The Doghouse and my puppy. This place is wonderful because while it's basically one big room, they divide it up into smaller areas with what I can only describe as 3 feet high dividers that look like those plastic panels on the more modern park playgrounds. By dividing the room this way, they can separate the ones that are more rambunctious and the ones that just want to nap and chillax. There are always at least 2 staff working at all times so if a dog wants some lap time they're there for them. This is what I love most about this place; the staff really know how to deal with different temperaments and how to help the shy ones (like my pup) and bring them out of their shells in their own time. When my puppy started there he was timid and shy and spent most of his time in a staff's lap and now he's more playful and interacting with the other dogs. Your first visit is always by appointment and they'll give an honest assessment about how well your dog will do in their particular environment. If your puppy fits, then every visit after that is on a drop-in basis. In the subsequent visits they like to communicate to you about how well your dog is or isn't doing and can make recommendations about what you can do at home to bring out the happy pup in your little pooch. Their hours are from 6:30am to 6:30pm. If you're late the first time you'll get off on a warning, but they do charge a late fee after that. That's understandable since you're cutting into the staffer's own time who is waiting on you before they can go home. read more

Wow! I love this place. And so does my pup! The team takes care of my pup so well that when I mention "daycare" she turns 360's; or if we happen to be driving near granville island, my pup will get very excited and look out the window for The Doghouse or her friends. My dog and I love this place!! Have been coming here for a few years! The girls always know her by name, and take such good care of her. She was a nervous reck at another daycare but when she came here, she instantly fell in love. My dog practically runs around the corner to get to daycare! When I pick her up at the end of the day, she is always very happy and very well taken care of! I also love the fact that they have a small dog location - perfect for when my dog was just a puppy. read more

I'm really happy with this daycare for my little dog. They take great care of him. He gets so excited when I drop him off. He stopped wanting to go to the first daycare I took him to (I think because of some yelling which scares him). I'm really glad I found a great daycare where I can take my little guy. I can't say enough good things about the doghouse. We used to take our pup to another small dog place nearby and I couldn't even get him in the door he would lock his legs and I would have to basically drag him in but then we tried out the doghouse and haven't looked back! Our dog is so excited to be dropped off I can't open the car door fast enough! The staff are all so sweet and seem to genuinely love dogs. I suppose it's all about finding a place that your dog is comfortable with and this is definitely the spot for us. We were on a wait list for a a week to two, then they called to say there was a spot but we had to make an appointment for the initial drop off as they wanted to make sure there was an extra staff member on to make our pup's experience a positive one (I won't lie, I thought this a bit strange and funny as though I were dropping off my child but now I realize they just knew what they were doing and it showed with a happy dog upon pick up). After that we were free to drop him whenever we need, no appointment necessary. Seriously love this place and so happy we found it! On one hand The Dog House is pretty good. They have a 3 day trial to make sure new dogs are a good fit. They put dogs that are acting out in kennels for a time out. They have an outdoor play area and on hot days a doggie water park. And if your dog needs it they can feed him/her breakfast, lunch and/or dinner depending on how long they are there. On the other hand, they don't tell you about your dogs bad behavior. You have to prompt them and push to find out if your dog was causing issues. Which then makes it very hard to train these bad habits out of them (especially if you have a puppy or a reactive pooch). It also makes me skeptical of the 3 day trial. If they don't want to tell me about my own dogs bad behavior do they then allow aggressive and bully dogs to stay in the daycare? My dog is not perfect, I know my pup will act out but I care about my dogs behavior and I cant fix the problem if I don't know about it. Also on that note I have found that a few negative behaviors are being re enforced by the staff ie., chasing my dog around to grab her. This is an issue for dogs in training or rescue dogs. One more thing I would like to add is that if you buy or get given a multi-day pass it is only valid for that one dog (so beware if you plan on bringing two dogs, you will need to buy multi passes for BOTH which is $$$). Also if you have multi 1/2 day passes you wont be able to use them towards keeping your dog there for the full day. They will charge you for the full day and ignore your 1/2 day passes. Not a big deal for everyone but we did not know and even mentioned it at drop off that we wanted to use 2 1/2 day passes for the full day which we were told "thats fine!" only to pick up our dog and get given a full days bill read more

I never thought I would see the day.... when my little pup was all grown up and read to attend doggie daycare. I felt like a proud parent dropping him off at The Doghouse to spend the day at play. And play he did! A pint-sized fire cracker, otherwise known as a jack russell cross, my pup has been know to have endless energy - including an attraction to anything wood, which doesn't bode well for my sofa. The Doghouse is the perfect cure. A fantastic (yes, I'm going to say it) doggie daycare that will treat your four-footed kid to a day of playtime and pampering. Because my little terror is of a "smaller" breed, we take him to the "small dogs only" branch = a perfect solution to his hyper-active ways as he receives 10kms of walks a day. The space is clean, and the pups are always happy when they are picked up at the end of the day - not to say pooped (pardon the pun) from a full day of rigorous play. They even provide treats/snacks and cuddles for those who are to tiny to survive an active schedule. We wholly recommend this daycare (even if the wait list is 3 months long) and the sofa is much happier for no longer being a chew-toy. read more

This place is amazing! We have tried other places and have been burned it this daycare is the best. I have a small chihuahua that is shy and the Granville island location was the fix. They helped my dog adjust to being with other dogs and made him more confident. He now loves to play with others and is not bothered by other dogs or shakes like he used to. Whenever we drop him off he gets out of his dog carrier and runs towards the door to be let in. It's the cutest thing ever, I don't even get a goodbye he just wants to get in and play. They also take pictures and pictures speak a thousand words. I used to take him to a daycare that scared him and all the pictures showed my dog cowering in the corner with his ears tucked back all scared. The pictures from this daycare show him happy and playing. I also know from when I pick him up, he looks so happy and they always tell me how he did for the day. I have been taking my little rescue terrier, Buckey, to the Doghouse since I first got her in October. The staff have been so patient and kind to my little one, that she has really grown confident and even more loving since her stays with this wonderful day care. I never worry about leaving her here for the day. On mornings that I do bring her here, she pulls me towards the doors and gets so excited when she sees the girls. When I come to pick her up, she is so excited to see me, and she is tired and calm...she passes out in the car and is so well behaved at night because she has been well socialized and exercised in the day. I can't say enough good things about the girls at the DogHouse...they love my dog as much as I do, and it shows. They are responsible and amazing with her. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! read more

Both my dog and I give the Doghouse 5 stars! The first day he was anxious, but everyday since he is so excited to go to the Doghouse. The staff are very caring and attentive to the needs of the different dogs, and the dogs are given enough potty breaks and walks. I would recommend this facility to anyone. read more
