What to do when you want to go skiing in beautiful BC's best mountain but all of the friends you…read moretypically rely on to watch your precious furbaby come with you? Call up Anna and her wonderful dog walkers! I've used Whistler Dog Sitting for the past two trips in Whistler and I am happy to report both times went without a hitch! Anna and her sitters enabled me to enjoy my ski trips without worrying about my dog making a mess in the room or me having to quit the slopes early to take him out. Maybe it's a common Aussie trait, but Stephanie bonded easily with my dog and gave me status updates and photos of their adventures together. She accommodated all of my requests (room access, treat allowance, keeping him warm) and communicated with me quickly if there was a problem. I never had to go through her boss Anna for any issues. I will caution you that they have a two hour minimum ($20/hour) and only accept cash! So if you are traveling from out of country make sure to get some cash handy to pay the sitters (they must be paid each day for service). It will be well worth it!

The owner, Anna responded promptly during the holiday and sent over a liability and waiver to sign also wanting to gather details of our dog, Chip, so they could care for him. We arranged for 2 nights of sitting with this company for 3 hours each so that we could go out for dinner. First night: we had some transportation issues getting up to Whistler and arrived many hours later than we had anticipated. I went back and forth with Anna several times that day on email and she was highly responsive and understanding. Our sitter patiently waited for us and also texted me so I could let her know when we arrived. Carolyn had treats but was sure to ask if he had allergies, let us know what her plans with the dog were and she was very sweet to him. When we arrived back he was sleeping in his Westin Heavenly Dog Bed and was in good spirits despite a long dark bus ride up from Vancouver that day. Second night: we met Tamara in our hotel room and Chip got along with her right away. She provided an itinerary as well and took him out for an hour long walk. I left toys and treats for her to use with the dog and she asked us about specifics around food and his history. While we were waiting for our dinner reservation we did spot Chip out and about tail wagging happily and flirting with all the ladies. When we returned Chip was again well exercised, in high spirits and well behaved sleeping on top of our bed waiting for us. Will hire these folks again. Solid customer service and great sitters. Thank you Anna and team!

He is anxious, and there were times he did not play appropriately with smaller dogs (he had too much energy, and he does not always recognize/respond to the other dog's body language of "please give me space." They gave me great feedback on how he was doing, but his trainer and I decided that daycare for my anxious dog would not let him be "his best self." I then transitioned him to their Woofer Walker Munchkin March pack walks, which is a much better fit for him. He gets to socialize with the other dogs in the pack walk, run himself silly, and sniff everything (animate and inanimate). Obi would walk over my dead body to get to Woofer Walker Judy! He is so excited when it is Woofer Walker day that he waits by the front door, staring at it until he hears the van pull up, and then loses his mind. Judy is very patient with his excitement. They let me know which days would be the best fit for him regarding the other dogs' personalities and play styles, so he goes every Tuesday and Thursday. They also post videos of some of the highlights of the walks and post pictures - it is the highlight of our evening to watch the videos! I've downloaded some of the images since they are great shots!

As I met more people, I had several people tell me about Woofer Walkers and decided to try them. My dog is always excited to go to daycare when we arrive. He loves so many of the staff and I always feel like Ali'i is in good hands. There were a couple of times when I had emergencies come up and the crew was always ready to receive Ali'i... they are always patient and understanding when things come up. One of the best places I STILL take Ali'i when I have to go away for the week or even just a day in daycare. Thanks to Bella, Justin, and crew for keeping our pups safe!

And stood there amazed as he CHOSE to veer off in a long arc toward me, coming in full tilt to a sit. I am still sort of in shock that he gave me priority. When I called he was 40 yards away from me and within four car lengths of the deer and he is a focused high drive dog. Thank you to our trainer Greg Houle. Never in my wildest dreams did I think he would stop chasing a deer that he had an excellent chance of catching and come to me because I asked him to. I am so grateful for In The Flow K-9 training, that he came, yes, but the WAY he came to me, eyes shining, leaving what was probably his heart's desire, full of happiness that I had called. He was 100% into the next thing that we were going to do togethe r, focused and looking up at me for direction. Making that bond between you and your dog the "something big", the "pay off" for your work, is what Greg's teaching is all about from the very first minute. I am 70 years old. I have had many dogs and used many methods to get to where I thought I wanted to be with them. This method is like the place where all the paths meet....like the pearl in the oyster.Over the last two years I have watched Greg guide little kids, teens, adults, seniors, into better relationship with their canine companions. He just kind of walks into the mess you've made with each other and tidys up the room! Everyone feels better. Everyone does better. Then, if you want to stick around, he can show you how he did it! You won't find a more generous teacher. This kind of training makes you and your dog both feel better, do better, be better!

Then we rescued another full grown dog who wasn't small. She was wild and required a team just to walk her. We have been working with Greg and both dogs on and off since November. We aren't terrible consistent, but we do try. People have been stopping and applauding us for the noticeable changes in both dogs' behavior. I have actually had some success walking both dogs together. Life at home is much less frazzled, although there's still plenty to work on. What I really like about this training is that Greg is practical. The training is to the point. It's really sensible. Greg understands that people are busy, that some dogs have structure and other dogs have toys. He adjusts and supports as needed. Greg has a diverse background with a biology degree and has worked a broad spectrum of jobs. He takes his career seriously and gets things done pleasantly, timely, and correctly.

My pets have always received the best care possible. I took one of my young dogs to a session with Joyce for help with his aggressive behaviour. I had sought help previously from a series of recommended trainers and vets. In one session,Joyce provided me more help than all the others combined. One of my very old ( 16+) dogs refused to eat one day. Realizing that this was not normal for him, and knowing his age, and after trying unsuccessfully to reach me, they took him into their home and sat with him. He passed away peacefully in a few hours, in the company of loving humans. After speaking to me, they took him to a local vet and had him cremated and gave me the ashes. It was a hard sad time, and I cannot imagine a better way to end a long life. This is absolutely the best place for a dog to be. The only drawback is that they are so good- and it is not easy to get a space.
